We play 2nd edition OOB, and it takes 2-3 sessions of ~8 hours each.
We don’t take breaks, but we smoke a lot of grass (legal in Canada) and allow ourselves a little time to think and to do math.

Cool. Maybe now we can get a FAQ for the Zombie game?
I took the Ethiopia and Somali with Russians last game. To save time, they hopped on a British transport after taking Iraq.
Russia had lost most of their territories. Japan had taken most of East, and Germany was in all the factories except Moscow.
The African territories, plus Iraq, Norway, and Finland, were providing Russia with 8 IPCs plus another 15 in national objectives. Seven British fighters in Moscow held of the bombing raids, and I think the extra income made the difference for Russia to hang on until the Allies turned the tide.
If the game had continued, I was likely to pick up Tobruk too!
Has anybody else gotten good bonus money for Russia from Italian Africa?
So there is a new AH game to be announced today. Claiming to “breathe life into a decade old Legacy”.
Worth noting:
A&A or not, I am excited to see what they bring. AH has finally been rescued from WotC purgatory, and hopefully has good things coming. If today’s announcement is not A&A, we could still get something new soon. :)
I figured it was probably fairly common.
We were late to the game upgrading to 2nd edition, and are still discovering things. 🙂

Dr Buzzman says high
He see’s that you and your fellow buzzheads play OOB G 40 and recommends a House rule mod https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/36945/axis-allies-global-1940-house-rules-expansion
You can also play it online with triplea https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/17147/gargantua-s-k-i-s-s-triplea-instructions/30
Have fun gaming
Thanks! I’m not much interested in house rules or online play. But I’ve been getting lots of A&A in! We have finished six games this year and are on number seven.
@AndrewAAGamer thanks for the answer!
We are long time A&A vets, but fairly new to G40 2nd edition. So much to explore in this version! 😁😁😁
@AndrewAAGamer
@SuperbattleshipYamato
Cheers! I’ll keep an eye out for opportunities to try that!
@Imperious-Leader
I see no mention on page 23 of sea zone numbers. Only this:
“You can place sea units only in sea zones adjacent to territories containing eligible industrial complexes. New sea units can enter play even in a hostile sea zone. No combat occurs because the Conduct Combat phase is over.”
If you look at page 8, you WILL see this:
“Note: The Caspian Sea (surrounded by Caucasus, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Eastern Persia, Persia, and Northwest Persia) is considered to be a sea zone, even though it does not have a number.”
I suggest you recheck the rules. You might be looking at the wrong book.
@Imperious-Leader said in Why is the Caspian Sea not labelled?:
@zooooma it has a number?
Irrelevant. There is no rule that all sea zones must have numbers. There is a rule that explicitly states this is a sea zone.
See page eight.
If you want to play with a house rule that’s your business.

@Imperious-Leader the rulebook is explicit that it is a real sea zone.
Feeling a bit slow, but I’m struggling to understand how invading Spain can facilitate an attack on SZ 91.
It’s four spaces from West Germany to 91, whether you fly over Spain or through the Atlantic.
You could land the planes in Spain, but it works just as well for Italy to take Morocco or Gibraltar to make a landing strip.
What’s the actual benefit that I am missing?
@AndrewAAGamer thanks for the answer!

Is this ever actually a good idea?
Would it ever make sense for USA to capture Spain in order to invade Europe via Gibraltar; needing only one defensive fleet instead of two?
The money saved on navy, plus the expediency, could possibly be worth the consequent boon for the Axis?
Particularly if Mongolia had already turned Russian?
Sorry that I’m sure it’s been discussed before. Dug back a bit but didn’t find anything.
@cmmiles I think the faster version is called 1942 second edition… 😉
@shadowhawk I tried TripleA years ago. I didn’t like not being able to see the whole board at once. I preferred PBEM games where I kept an actual board set up.
Currently my friend has the extra large mat permanently set up in his basement! When we finish a game, we set it back up.
We’ve been playing a full day every second weekend this year, so I’m not really looking to ramp that up.
I appreciate the tip though!

That’s more than half the fun discovering it on your own :)
It really is! And I impressed my playgroup too.
