    • The Americanization of Emily.

      This is a great old black and white movie with James Garner and Julie Andrews.  It takes place right before D-day.  It is really hard to tell you what the movie is about exactly, but it is great.  In short, James Garner is an American  officer who is a self proclaimed coward, and Julie Andrews is his British love intrest who is caught up in the whole idea of “honor, nobility, courage”.  The 2 play off each other really well.  Was just wondering if anyone on this board has ever seen it.  My favorite part of the movie (which I have pretty much memorized).

      You American haters bore me to tears miss baurm.  Oh yes, I know all about us crass harbingers from the states.  We race around your old cathedrals, we talk too loud, we over tip, we think we can buy anything with a Hershey Bar.

      I’ve worked around Eurupeans all my life.

      I’ve had Germans and Italians tell me how politicaly ingenuious we are.  And perhaps so.  But we still haven’t managed a Hitler or a Mussolini yet.

      I have had French men call me a savage for only taking a half hour for lunch.  Miss barum, the only reason the French take 2 hours for lunch is because the service in their restaruants is lousy.

      But the most tedious lot are you British.  We crass Americans did not introduce war to your little island.  No miss barum, this war, that we Americans are so insensitive to is the direct result of over 2000 years of Eurupean greed, superstion, stupidity and barbarism.  So don’t blame our coke-o-cola bottles.  Eurupe was a growing brothle long before we came to town.

      So lay off miss barum, either pick a frock or get out.  It’s not my job to listen to your sentimental missgivings.

      Love that speech!

      If you haven’t seen the movie, you should check it out.  If you have, love to hear what anyone has to say about it.

      I thought the post was funny myself.  Don’t really care about, or for his political views, but it was funny.  I wonder though if the left can find equaly funny the jokes made about the French.  There are a lot of them in this country.

      "the last time the french wanted ‘more proof’ it rolled through paris singing “deutchland deutchland uber alles”.  I know some other ones, and find them funny too.  But I think many on this board might get offended at those kind of jokes.  People who take offense to cleese’s remarks or jokes like the ones I just made are way too sensitive IMO.

    • RE: Dems win in Jersey and Virginia governors races

      @Yanny:

      It’s not big deal at all. It’s just election day, and election day deserves a mention.

      I’m always disgusted by people who don’t vote in off year elections. People wonder why my generation is getting screwed by politicians on both sides of the isle every day. Because probably about 10% of those from 18-24 voted on Tuesday. Hell, most of the political science majors in my class today didn’t realize there were elections yesterday.

      Local and state elections are just as important as national elections. It wasn’t an off year for freeholders, town council, or governor in my state.

      I have always looked at voting in a negative light.  The idea of “your voice” seems kind of stupid to me.  My vote won’t make a difference one way or another (I am 33).

      MTV had “rock the vote” commercials running years ago (may still have them, god knows they don’t play videos anymore lol) and it convinced me of the futility/stupidity of voting.  They kept showing trailer trash and the other bottom feeders of society and the message was “if they are voting and their voice is heard, shouldn’t you vote?”  My answer to that is no.  My opinion is more important than a dumb ass hick who can’t stand “dem neegrows” or someone who is on welfare that refuses to get  a job.  I was of the opinion that if this country went head first into the crapper it wouldn’t be because I didn’t vote.  But when/if that happens I would do a lot more than just vote.  That is what the 2nd ammendment is for.  The people who say “if you don’t vote, you can’t complain” don’t know what they are talking about.  I pay taxes, I will complain all I like.

      I did vote in 04 out of a symbolic gesture more than anything else.  I live in TN, it was going for Bush no matter what.  I used to live in IL, it was going to go Kerry no matter what.  However Kerry disgusted me to such an extreme that I did go to the polls and vote out of a dislike of him.  I may make the same gesture in 08 if they get comrade Hillary to run (or even worse - dean).

      I kind of look at it this way.  I don’t really own a gun (I have a 120 year old shotgun my great grandfather passed down that can no longer be fired), but if the government ever tried to take away my right to getting one I would have one in a heartbeat… and probably join a militia.

    • RE: Paris Riots

      I think Germany will have similiar problems, just not as bad.  And if push really came to shove they could tell the turks there to get the hell out.  Neither the original people who came to germany were made citizens nor their children are citizens.  If this kind of insane crap goes on they could theoreticaly find themselves on a boat back to Turkey ((and REAL poverty) at least as of 5 years ago according to my old college prof.)

      What is happening in Eurupe (France specificaly) is the exact reason that GWB and anyone who agrees with an amnesty program should be politicaly crucified.  No work program what so ever should be instated.  There is no such thing as “cheap labor”.  The criminals who broke the law getting into this country illegaly have children here that won’t be content with min. wage the way their parents are.  They will grow up bitter and resenting the US and you will see much of the same here as is going on in France.

      Either you come to this country legaly or you get out.  However, anyone found coming in illegaly should have to serve a year hard labor than deported so as to have a detterant to people trying over and over again.  The law of being an American citizen just for being born here should be removed, and anyone who claims citizenship based off that have that citizenship removed.  You are from the country that your parents were citizens of.

      This myth of “they do work that Americans will not do” is just that - myth.  They do work that Americans won’t do for crap wages.  That is the truth.  These jobs must get done, and w/o the criminals doing them companies will be forced to raise the wages of these jobs to attract AMERICANS to do them.  Criminals doing the jobs pay higher profits for the companies, and they in turn influence the government to do nothing.

      I welcome anyone who comes to this country legaly.  Immigrants made this country great.  But people crossing our borders illegaly should not be given one iota of consideration.  If they are hit by a car they should recieve no help, just  a hertz to get the body off the road.  Companies who hire illegals should have their CEOs who made the decision serve hard time (not a white collar jail).  Politicians who support aiding the law breakers in ways like giving the licenses, and being against common sense approaches like making forging documents harder - should be run out of office (and some jail time).

      If these things had been done in Eurupe than they would not have the problem they have now.  If we don’t do these things now you can expect the same thing here in a decade or 2 with Mexicans complaining that the South West is really theirs.

      Yeah… seems like some really unsuccessful countries to me.

      The distribution of the United States actually makes the most wealthy country in the world look like an Agrarian nation in terms of level of human security. I’d quote you the line from the excellent book Sacred and Secular, by Norris and Inglehart (probably the two best empircal political scientists in the world).

      He is speaking about socialist nations. Only France and Micheal Moore fits the bill as a true Socialist nation. Spain is getting close, while the others have some policies but are really “mixed economies”.And BTW a line from a book does not make something “the truth” in spite of sales to Berkely students or Rush Limbaughs book store.

      To correct you, socialism can work.  It “worked” in Nazi Germany.  The economy got better blah blah blah.  I won’t go into a huge history lesson over why the nazis were wrong, because anyone posting on an axis and allies board should know that.  But what people like falk equate socialism to a welfare state, and that does not work.

    • RE: Senate to have first closed-door meeting in 25 years

      @Yanny:

      This has nothing to do with Valerie Plame and Karl Rove. The Dems want answers for why we were misled into going to War with Iraq.

      Reminds me of the “Spot” act introduced into the House by Abraham Lincoln.

      Question is, will President Bush claim executive privelage if this move actually results in a serious investigation.

      This isn’t posturing. It’s a serious move by a lot of Senators on both sides of the isle (The Dems don’t have enough votes to call a motion of secrecy without Republican support).

      Not only that, but we won’t hear about what goes on. Since 1830, the Senate has only gone secret 3 times. All three were concerning highly sensitive cold-war era paramilitary interventions.

      This is serious stuff.

      I think that this could be a bombshell, or a buch of crap.  Closed sessions are a good thing.  Sorry folks, national security takes presidence over the national enquires “need to know”.  If they have proof that they don’t want to reveal for national security, hats off… a good move and not at all politicaly motivated.  Mcarthy did not betray this country by telling ppl how he got his info, and that is noble (I bet I get a bunch of people down my throat for that one).

      If it is a political stunt, than it is an act of a desperate entity that is about to die.

      I keep thinking of the movie “Natural Born Killers”.  At one point the 2 sociopaths befriend an Indian.  The indian tells a story about a woman who found a snake frozen in ice.  She thaws the ice, and nurses the snake back to health.  Than the snake bites her, and she yells out “how could you do this after all I have done for you!”  The reply from the snake was “bitch, you knew I was a snake!”

      Its been at least 7 or 8 years since I seen the movie.  So some of what I said may not be percise.  But that was the jist of it.

      I don’t fear or hate muslims in this country.  There may be some terrorist cells, but they are the exception.  I am not Muslim, but I don’t think for a second that the same kind of hate mongering that is happening in Eurupe happens here.

      Look at france, really think about it.  They love to be “better than you”.  That is part of their mentality.  American, British, German, Italian (even muslim) they think that they are more “evolved” than everyone else, and we are all ignorant savages.  Part of the thinking is the socialist utopia.  Which may seem nice on paper, (we don’t care about where you come from) but the reality is they care more than almost anyone else.  They look down on people.  The arabs and africans they welcomed into their country decades ago was a sign of their “evolvedness”.  But when it came time for some real social equality, “screw them…”

      The rioters may have french citizenship, but they are not French.  Neither side has tried to integrate because the french are arogant, and the rioters are brainwashed.

      For the most part in the US our muslims are integrated.  The only recruiting place for muslim nuts are our prisons.  In France it is the local mosque (sp?).

      http://www.washtimes.com/national/20051030-114254-2919r.htm

      I see it more as if the minutemen won. The border is becoming more secure because of the political pressure the minutemen were able to apply by making people aware of the problem. Bush was ready and set for an amnesty program before the minutemen came about. Now the illegals have become desperate.

      Erect a wall, prison time for people coming over illegaly THAN deportation, huge fines and/or imprisonment for corps that hire illegals, a feasable work program that does not equate to amnesty. That is how you fix the problem of illegal immigration.

      To each his own cystic. Call me a tourist or whatever, but I don’t want to hitchike or study on my vacation. I want to be taken care of. I can wander around aimlessly and read at home and not spend any money. And although not as beatnick, a library card works just fine for me and is a lot cheaper than a plane ticket. I can forgo the scenery while I read. As far as hitchiking is concerned. I want a cab. Didn’t some chick get grabbed in the Carribian not too long ago?

      But hey, like I said. To each his own. Have not been to vegas yet, so would like to check it out. Cirque de solei, gambling, legal prostition (oops, did I say that last one out loud? lol). Not now of course, but mardi gras would kick some ass. That and the places that leader mentioned in Germany. World war 2 junky and all. Be kind of cool to see some of the places in Russia where major battles were fought, but the place looks like a real dive to me. The places in Germany aren’t all that great. Kind of like “and here is yet another city that got bombed”. Not too epic, more sad than anything.

October is here and Spaten Beer flows. Just dont eat anything in england the food is poison! Their is good Sauerbraten in Berlin and southern Germany and dont forget the SCHNITZEL!
      If you want to see a bunch of feces then i suppose you can head for france and visit the “Parasites” er paris sites. just watch where you step. In our Germany the streets are cleaned with soap and water and huge trucks do it at night.

      lol leader. joke for you…

      Why do birds fly upside down over France?

      Because there is nothing worth crapping on.

      Didn’t know that stuff was still standing. Would be kinda interesting to see. Closest I got to eating German was in the German pavilion at Epcot last month.

      @Imperious:

      Ok so your actually saying that when your Japan USA or UK your buying more of any other unit besides infantry? your buying more Tanks than infantry? more fighters than infantry? more transports than infantry? more battleships than infantry? more subs than infantry? please tell us how its possible to win this way… I need to know state the nation your playing what the basic build structure is …etc. I have never seen anything like this before. Does this work for 2nd edition too? aa europe? aa Pacific? or just revised?

      Depends on when and who leader. I’m not going to buy hardly any (if any at all) infantry of the first turn with US/UK. What’s the point? I need units that will protect my ships so I can get my land forces into the battle. If the US goes into the Pacific it is the same kind of deal. You don’t need an overwhelming amount of ground forces to take out those islands. But you will need a large Navy to get to the islands. Eventualy the game is won by ground forces, specificaly infantry. But I have been beaten in the old game when America bought nothing but bombers from turn 1 on. I had Moscow and africa, but could not place a unit.

      @F_alk:

      @Zooey72:

      We started the invasion for the same reason you have had American troops in your country for the last 60 years. It is a strategic location.

      When did it become so strategic? What changed between 1944 and 1940?

      Democracy did not take hold in Germany because of American “feel good” mentality. If that is all it took than it would have done happened after WW1.

      Hmmm … there was democracy in Germany after WWI, why do you think there was not ?

      The honest truth why the Germans gave up on National Socialism is because we utterly destroyed thier country.

      True, and you destroyed Germany because of National Socialism. Rather simple equation for a smart person to solve, if that person wants to avoid further utter destruction.

      if allowed… the Germans probably would have voted in some Nazis if they were allowed to vote for whom they wanted. Esp around places like Nuremberg.

      Some did. And others of the majority made the parties illegal.

      The US needs to have a presence in the middle east for the war on terrorism. Iraq is a very strategic location that we can respond to attacks from.

      Why is Iraq so much better suited than Quwait and Turkey?
      You have fallen for propaganda.

      Disagreement is fine, polar f’d up radicalism is not.

      Who watches the watchmen?
      The world agrees that the US are on a good way to f’d up radicalism.

      And you are wrong about the nazis “could not care less about the workers”. It was psychotic and sad, but the whole concept of National Socialism revolved around being German.

      I agree with the second sentence, But where does worker equate German?
      The workers were cattle to the Nazis, useful tools. Needed to be grunts. That’s why programs the Volkswagen or Kraft durch Freude (Power though joy) were created. None of them aimed at giveng the workers any more rights so. It was all “bread and games”. And that is not socialist at all.

      Ernst Rohm, was a homosexual thug pedophile.

      You have fallen for NAzi porpaganda. He was gay, but not pedophile.

      So much so, that on the night of the long knives when he was dragged out of his bed by the SS he thought it was some kind of coup going on. He refused to believe Hitler would do that to him. He died with “Hiel Hitler” on his lips in the middle of a salute.

      Hmmm … you do know that Röhm was imprisoned on the 29th June, and died in prison on the 1st July? I don’t know where you have your information from, but you should check that.

      The reason Hitler got rid of Rohm is because the Army would not cooperate with the Nazis while the SA existed.

      And it surely was the army who also wanted General von Schleicher, Georg Strasser and Gustav Knight of Kahr assassinated ?
      The SA-Army thing was one part of the reason. The removal of critics and inner-party threats was the more important reason.

      Germany was FAR from being bankrupt in 1939. Unemployment was almost non-existant in 1939.

      sigh … simple counterexample: The GDR was bankrupt. The GDR had zero unemployment.
      Everything the Nazis had done was financed on credit. And it was about time thtat the credits were due.

      I only mention that so as to not sound like an extremist when I say I read “mien kamph” for refrences to a few pappers.

      you have read it? And you still take it seriously??

      If “because we said so” does not work…. than how come you have never been allowed to read it?

      I explained that above, with the smart person and the equation. BTW, long live the internet ;).

      In a hurry, but will respond to a few things and get to the rest later.

      Please don’t play games falk, this is not a flame thing. I just don’t want to cover things I know you are aware of.

      meaning…

      What happened that made Germany so strategic, the cold war. And you know that. It was also in our best intrest to have Germany rebuild its military to help with the Warsaw pact/Nato arms race

      You also know that democracy failed in Germany because of the stab in the back mentality of the German people.

      3rd point. Have we destroyed Iraq the way we did Germany? Think before you knee jerk reaction of “yes” because although you like the anti war propaganda, you also know that there is no comparison. There are pro SH demonstrations in Iraq. Would we have allowed that in Germany after WW2? We could solve the problem of insurgency with the utter destruction of Iraq… Not every German was a nazi, and not every Iraqi is a follower of SH. So lets fire bomb Baghdad the same way we did dresden. That is how Germany was converted. When the people were faced with utter hopelessness in thier cause.

      Grr, got to go. Looked up the Rohm thing, I stand corrected for the most part. Can’t remember where I read that… oh well. Mien kamph… if you are going to study Nazi Germany you should read the autobiography of the man who ran it all. Some of the refrences I used was to show what a dumb ass Stalin was for thinking he could trust Hitler when the book clearly states that he was going to attack.

      Oh, and to add. You should be glad that the war started in 39. It was planned for 43. 300 operational U-boats (which what was forcasted) would strangled England in a few months (not to mention the surface fleet that had planned on having 7 more tirpitz class battlehships and an aircraft carrier at that time). The German airforce in 39 was 3 times the size of the British airforce, how large of a disparity would there have been in 43? 4 more years of German tech playing into it too? 44-45 the Germans had rockets, jets, assault weapons, snorkels, almost unstopable tanks, air to sea GUIDED missles, STEALTH technology (that we <the united=“” states=“”>still uses today) and was on the brink of getting SAMs. And lets not forget the possibility of a German A-bomb.

      If the war had not happened in 39, more than likely you would be goose stepping right now with Hitler’s son/grandson in charge of Eurupe.</the>

    • RE: (In depth poll) IF the Iraq war ever succeeds…

      First Falk, I am going to assume that you are German because you say “us”. If you are not, I apolagize.

      We started the invasion for the same reason you have had American troops in your country for the last 60 years. It is a strategic location. No war in History that I can think of has been fought for the reasons stated by the government. The civil war was not fought over slavery, it was fought over tariffs and tax apropriations. But doesn’t “free an enslaved people” sound so much nicer?

      Democracy did not take hold in Germany because of American “feel good” mentality. If that is all it took than it would have done happened after WW1. The honest truth why the Germans gave up on National Socialism is because we utterly destroyed thier country. That was the plan at Yalta. No seperate peace. That is why civilian cities like Dresden were fire bombed. The allies knew the rhetoric that Hitler spouted off to get into office “We did not lose WW1, it was a stab in the back” blah blah blah. There is no doubt we won WW2, and that was the intent… This may be counter factual history, but I believe after the war was over… if allowed… the Germans probably would have voted in some Nazis if they were allowed to vote for whom they wanted. Esp around places like Nuremberg.

      The US needs to have a presence in the middle east for the war on terrorism. Iraq is a very strategic location that we can respond to attacks from. I am not opposed to a “puppet government” if that is what it takes. But I am in the minority as far as that goes. Given time we will move more troops out, and pull our remaining forces into large heavily secured bases and let the Iraqi military handle its own stability problems (the fact there is only 1 combat ready brigade is insane, and someone should be held accountable). This is no more an occupation force than the occupation force you have in your country Falk. Did our military stike down the german government because they disagreed with us on Iraq? No. Disagreement is fine, polar f’d up radicalism is not. You can bet your sweet a$$ if there was another beer hall putsch (sp) the American forces there would come out to fix the situation.

      And you are wrong about the nazis “could not care less about the workers”. It was psychotic and sad, but the whole concept of National Socialism revolved around being German. If anything, thier “love mania” was the whole root of it. Think of a stalker, he may “love” the one he is stalking… but that does not make him any less crazy.

      Your SA thing still baffles me. The “leader” of the socialist arm of the Nazi party… Ernst Rohm, was a homosexual thug pedophile. Almost all historians agree that the regular members of the SA were little better than thugs in uniform. Hitler did not see Rohm as a threat, Rohm held some power yes… but few could really challenge his loyalty. So much so, that on the night of the long knives when he was dragged out of his bed by the SS he thought it was some kind of coup going on. He refused to believe Hitler would do that to him. He died with “Hiel Hitler” on his lips in the middle of a salute. The reason Hitler got rid of Rohm is because the Army would not cooperate with the Nazis while the SA existed. The ARMY saw it as a threat because the SA were a couple million strong, while the army was limited to only 100,000. The SA who were thugs, than went into the regular army and learned some disipline. Oh, and if you want to see the socialist mastermind of National Socialism look at Speer.

      Germany was FAR from being bankrupt in 1939. Unemployment was almost non-existant in 1939. The reason those social programs I mentioned were put in place was to encourage people to work harder. Unlike FDR who tried to do social reforms first, and infrastructure second… Hitler built up Germany’s infrastructure first. Here is another key difference between left and right socialism. Between 33 and 39 the average salary of a man working 40 hours a week did not hardly change at all. What changed was that anyone could get a good job, and work almost unlimited OT if they wanted to. The 40 hours a week would keep you (and your family) fed and clothed and such. But to succeed you had it within your power to do so. When socialim is applied to the left you get a welfare state like France that prides itself for only having a 35 hour work week and huge unemployment.

      Leader hit the nail on the head, so I won’t get into that.

      I don’t know where you get your info from Falk. I would think being German you would have more info at your disposal, and that it would have been more focused on in school. I am not saying this to be insulting (honestly). If you learned some of these things in school, than the German school system has done its people an injustice. I am wondering too, if this is the type of thing that is taught in schools if that it was put in place to missinform Germans to exactly what the Nazi party was like. There is plenty of “evil” to be handed when it comes to the nazis. The German school system does not need to make things up.

      And falk, you can probably tell I am a WW2 nut. In college I took every german history and world war class my univeristy offered. I only mention that so as to not sound like an extremist when I say I read “mien kamph” for refrences to a few pappers.

      If “because we said so” does not work… than how come you have never been allowed to read it?

      @F_alk:

      @Imperious:

      majority of the public (which opposes Iraq) are a bunch of pacifists!

      “Who lives by the sword, will die by the sword”

      Iraq was able to attack her neighbors and had the resources for limited offensive operations. She was stronger than all the nations arond her sake Saudi Arabia which has our boys defending since the last threat.

      It was able to attack its neighbors …up to the last threat. So, you are changing your times you are relating to.
      “Since the last threat” Iraq had no resources for offensive action and surely was not stronger than TURKEY or Iran or probably even Syria.
      Even before the last trheat it was not stronger than Turkey (and thus the NATO).

      The second invasion was not about any threats of invasion.

      What else? I thought Iraq was somehow threatening the US?

      It was about the continued ignorance of UN sanctions that were violated way too many times to even count.

      This stopped once your army was assembled and ready to invade.

      “One nation ,One people, One president!”
      George Bush at the his acceptance speech 2004.

      “One people, one nation, one leader”
      translated Nazi slogan, 1933-1945

      @Zooey72:

      Why can’t they elect a socialist government? Because we said so. That simple. Same is true with a islamic fundamentalist state.

      So much for the freedom and democracy you claim to bring.

      The Nazis were socialist, and see where that got us?

      The Nazis stopped being socialist in 1934 after the Night of the Long Knifes.

      Take all the democracy you want, but you are not ALLOWED by the United States of Amierca to elect people who are fundamentalist Islamic facist.

      What if they chose a fundamentalist christian fascist gov’t ?

      My definition of socialism…

      Want to hear my definition of neo-con or born-again christian?

      If they elected satan himself I could care less as long as it was in the best intrests of the US. I for one, could care less about the Iraqi people. I am not a christian super hero who thinks we should try to save anyone other than ourselves and a few REAL allies. I could care less about “bringing democracy” to Iraq. That has never meant anything to me. And you did sidestep the question of the horrible regime set up in post war japan/germany that were supposed to be democracys but to THIS DAY can not practice thier pre-war politics. Why? BECAUSE WE SAID SO!

      And no, the nazis were socialist after 1934. The work incentive plans among many other things show that. The government had a plan to purchase cars and vacations for its citizens. Hardly a “hands off” government. Not to mention the direct ties the government had to industry. It was as socialist as it gets. It was just to the right, and not to the left. I wish it had been to the left, because than the whole movement would have fallen on its face and bankrupted (even worse than it already was) the German economy. Not a nice thing to wish on Germans, but it beats the hell out of a world war.

      And why would you say the night of the long knives ended the socialist part of national socialism? The SA were the heart of the socialist part of the equation?

      After WW2 neither Germany nor Japan was ALLOWED to follow thier old political parties. In Germany it is STILL illegal to be a Nazi. We will not allow Iraq to become another Iran. Take all the democracy you want, but you are not ALLOWED by the United States of Amierca to elect people who are fundamentalist Islamic facist.

      Socialism to the extreme right may work on some levels (economicaly), at the cost of human rights. Socialism to the extreme left does not work on ANY level.

      My definition of socialism…

      The equal and fair redistribution of misery.

      We are playing a game with the terrorist IMO. I think they have Chem/Bio weapons. They don’t want to use them because they fear the response from the west.

      In reverse, we are not doing the things that would ensure a victory over Terrorism. If we used Nazi Germany forms of “control” over occupied territories there would be no more car bombings and what not. You can point to the partisans in WW2 as fighting the Germans but they were only able to do that because the vast bulk of the German army was fighting the regular war. If it wasn’t, the partisans would have been crushed very quickly.

      The problem is escalation on both sides. If we invade and defeat every country in the middle east, and use VERY heavy handed means of control we force the terrorist into a corner and you will see them use all means at thier disposal.

      Likewise if the terrorist fly a plane into a nuclear reactor in the US killing 10s or 100s of thousands of Americans. They know there will be nothing left of the middle east when we are done.

      Our government is looking at this in a long term way, the same way we defeated the USSR.
