      the full germany push to russia is generally the way to go.

      I just am skeptical of japan doing early russia play, because the income japan gets out of it is small and he gives up much in his setup. Makes dealing with china / uk pac / anzac / usa really hard especially at a low income.

      I am a full believer in a strong japan going for his objectives. It makes allies commit more and makes allies have less income as a whole

      @wwestpro:

      @Zhukov44:

      I’m unclear whether a successful Sea Lion (G1-G3) changes the political situation.

      Does the fall of London bring USA and/or USSR into the war or do they still have to wait till USA3/R4?

      pretty sure OOB rules are No, they wait like normal in the instance of an attack.  But Alpha 3 states this:

      “If the United States has war declared on it by an Axis power, an Axis power captures London or any territory in North America, or Japan makes an unprovoked declaration of war on the UK or ANZAC, the United States may declare war on any or all Axis powers.”

      Um….you’re quoting Global rules. (1st hint tipping you off should have been the mention of Japan & ANZAC…no Japan or ANZAC in Europe 1940)

      So to answer the OP question. No, it does not bring USA into the war when London falls. OOB rules are pretty clear on that one (See page 19 -21)

      @Gargantua:

      TripleA is cheat-proof

      That’s not entirely accurate.  There is a scenario I can think of in which some shady circumstances can occur - in a particular scenario.

      It’s safer to say - Axis and Allies is cheat proof, as long as your dice are done through a server - and you pay attention to the actual game mechanics.

      Well I’m mostly comparing it to Battlemap, where it would be easy to add units here or there.  If extra units are discovered, there’s no way to tell if it’s cheating or an unintended mistake.

      In my experience, it’s the unintentional mistakes that most often mar Battlemap games.  Consequently, many players spend alot of time checking maps and moves for accuracy.

      With TripleA the above scenarios don’t happen, because you’d have to use edit to add in units that shouldn’t be there.  And any edit is clearly visible in the game history.

      @Zhukov44:

      GG LL, it was very interesting to see your Plan B (or C) carried out.

      I liked your late-game tactics.  I think it could have been a close one if you’d captured FIC for the Allies, so I was pretty determined to save FIC for Axis, and just barely accomplished this.

      I rarely play KJF so I haven’t got much experience with Pacific wars.  But one thing I would try (if I was in a position where USA controlled the Pacific and Moscow had fallen) is shucking from Alaska/Bry (in conjunction with uk shucking to mor).  That way you can take advantage of USA’s production capacity, and you keep your fleet close to Tokyo.  But I guess I didn’t make that easy by moving the tanks through Siberia.

      It was kind of fun to play around a bit with some crazy stuff.  But in the end, it was TMT.

      TMT = too many tanks  :lol:

      See you in the playoffs perhaps, and I already posted the result.

      Cheers

      Good game.

      I was getting a bit ansty stacking Epl and really hoped you wouldn’t do the can opener attempt, but as they say, hope isn’t a plan.  lol!  Luckily I was able cover it.  But could have turned into a disaster for me.

      Look forward to seeing you on the battle field again.

      @jiman79:

      Even with a decent R1 west russia battle, you can pretty much stack Karelia every time, unless USSR also buys 3 arm. Do you consider 3inf 3 arm as the superior R1 buy?

      Yup. Another one I’ve seen and tried is 4 arm, 1 art. That one really makes Germany think twice about moving stacks forward (or buying planes on G1) :)

      Interesting analysis Akreider and AxisRoll.

      Agree that to some extent the discussion is moot, because Egypt is the most popular place for a bid placement.  However maybe people will stop placing in Egypt, hoping to lure the Axis into a more ambitious G1 with greater risks, or simply thinking their bid is better placed elsewhere.

      I hit Egy in low luck games if there’s no bid there, but have stopped doing it in dice games.  My perspective is that if the overall cost-benefit tally between the 2 approaches is close, then I gotta prefer the more conservative approach.  AA44 already made this point well above, and I agree–-a cautious approach to Axis in AA50 is smart because map dynamics and national objectives are favorable over the long game, UNLESS Allies can hit a major break and shut Axis out of Africa or dominate the Pacific.

      But these variables could easily change if Allied strategies improve or average bids go up, which would make an early game 67% risk more attractive for Axis.

      The AA50 ladder is now up and running at TripleA War Club.

      http://www.tripleawarclub.org/modules/comp/

      The ladder is a rankings system, or an ongoing competition, using the TripleA program.  Ladder games are played on the lobby or via PBEM.

      To join up, get an account with TripleA War Club and register for the ladder.

      Each ladder match is a 2-game series, with each playing both Axis and Allies.

      Like the Revised ladder, which used a set 9 bid, there is a set bid for the Allies in AA50.

      41 low luck=11 bid
      41 dice=8 bid
      42 dice and ll=9 bid

      Since every match is a 2-game series, the Ladder competition will soon provide reliable statistics on bids and game outcomes.

      There are a wide variety of skill sets competing on the ladder…from novice to expert.

      Sign up and check it out!

      @Violent.copper:

      To add on to Cmdr Jennifer, You are also leaving the Brittish Navy to Invade the Norway Round 1 or then Sz 5 R2 or R3 overall doing more harm than good to Germany I never want the Allies in SZ5 Personally.

      You know, hitting Norway may not be the worst thing to happen to Germany…if you go Fleet Heavy like Functionetta and Emperor Mollari (and many others I am sure) on Germany 1.  Now their ships are in range of yours (you have to hit it from SZ 3).  Realistically speaking, you may have 2 destroyers, cruiser, submarine, carrier, 4 or 5 fighters and a bomber in range of SZ 3 at this time…depending what you did, what happened to you and how you are positioned at the end of G1.

      The FIC IC is OK if the US goes 100% Pacific. As a matter of fact I think it is one of the best IC positions in this case. It is harder to lose than any of the island positions. Both of the seazones it serves may also give a safe build spot close to the action. Think putting planes on carriers to maximize those two slots. Also as axis_roll pointed to the FIC IC does not require any naval servicing. If it is not needed for ships it can be producing ground units for South West Asia. The Allies are thin here even with the cluster they start with in India, it will not take many troops to decide this area. This opens up the possibility of an IC in India and these can support themselves.

      I do think that akreider2 is correct in that if the US does go 100% Pacific (keep in mind this is how I play Allies) that Japan does need to limit its IC building. I know as the US I love to see a Japanese IC go down in E. Indies on round 2. This is a fixed point that the Japanese navy will have to defend. While FIC is also a fixed point, it can be relived by land, and is more interior, so this reduces its drawbacks in a US PTO game. I think the Key to surviving these as Japan is to avoid having to defend multiple areas that one can not afford to lose. While the islands do matter for IPCs and NOs they can be left for a turn or two in enemy possession if the situation requires it. With an IC at that location it becomes a different consideration an MUST be defended and this is what allows the US to kill Japan.

      @ww2freak:

      I don’t quite follow why Persia is so strategic…does no one build a facility in India for UK anymore?  just have the Russkies (with support) defend Persia??

      Allot depends on what Germany has done on G1.

      Did they buy all tanks?  Did they attack Egypt?  Are any UK units left alive there?

      If Germany gives the allies some time by buying inf, and/or not attacking Egypt, then the allies might consider an IC for UK in India.  USA would most likely need to come hard after Japan then to keep Japan from being able to focus all her might on taking the UK Indian IC.

      This can be a very fine balance for the allies to employ.  but if you can pull it off, it does seem to be a pretty strong game plan.  Hope the russians defend well enough, they need to hold out until UK/USA assistance arrives
