      I wanted to join GTO in Dec. 2014, just before it closed. So i found the only other online live opportunity to play wargames (incl. some WW2 maps), the Triplea Community. I am new to AA so i had not only to study the game but also the Triplea Online Lobby.

      Unfortunately it is true that gaming on the TripleA lobby seems to require alot of memory and seems to work better with up to date operating systems…  But even with my old computer pbem/pbf work fine so I have no complaints really.

      I cannot say this is true, my system is 5 years old (at least), has 4 GB memory (which nearly everyone has these days) and playing online is absolutely no problem.
      Triplea offers now also hosted game, so no one has to solve this by himself. Many of old GTO players are now in the lobby (“refugees” as they call themselves ;) and show their abilities in dice and LL-Games (which they dont like so much).

      How has the server software been working for TripleA for live lobby play?

      The triplea programmer have done a superb job to develop this software in many, many ways. For me as new to turn-based wargames the save possibility is esp. useful, so i can repeat every game in every move/turn to learn. The second great tool (for me) is the in-built battle-calculator which is very easy to use. All in all the functions of the gaming software is quite easy to use (esp. if you are an exp. AA gamer).
      I can only suggest to download the Triplea Software and to check out an online live game, which in my opinion is a quite thrilling experience. And i hope DizzKneeLand33 had already had the time to make this exp. too  … ;)

      Remark: the colors in my attachment of the game have been changed by myself a bit, because of my poor eysight.

      GG Hobo you played an outstanding game.  I get the impression that almost everyone in the playoff is deserving of being champion, which means my odds of winning are only 1/4.

      LL/dice is in the game options, where the bid is placed.  You can turn it on or off before a turn.  Same with tech.

      Thanks, fun game.  Japan was sure in big trouble early, but fortunately the German blitzkrieg saved the day for Axis.

      @Boldfresh:

      i assume you were hoping i would forget that poland is a victory city - and people certainly do that sometimes.  good game zhuk, great to have you back.  playoff time soon!

      GG very well played.  I knew I was cooked many rounds ago; however I wanted a little practice with Allies.  Gj keeping the petal to the metal.

      @MajorJuggler:

      You need to understand probability and statistics to comprehensively answer this question. As a point of reference, I covered the prerequesite material around the 3rd year of my undergraduate engineering degree, so the call for “Math Geeks” is well titled here. :-)

      Geee I surely do wish I had me an education too so’s I could know them things  :roll:

      @Cow:

      Besides I had no bid and a bid of 2 in both my games. So for me to come out on top, even with luck, it still feels good.

      i can count the number of lucky wins i’ve gotten against very good opponents on 1 or 2 fingers.  you can count that many in this tournament alone.  pretty sad cow - i bet it does feel good to win, but it can’t be too nice to have the nagging feeling that you didn’t deserve it.

      @JWW:

      @Zhukov44:

      You didn’t quite finish.

      Regardless, Axis wins, they’ve controlled 8 vcs since G7.  GG.

      not sure what I did there? Thanks for the lesson.

      I was wondering why you were building up/reinforcing France.

      I need to be much more aware of the VC’s.

      Thanks again. Hope I can give you a better game next time!

      Sure thing.  Thanks for the game.

      O

      Cool, can I play Axis this time?

      What was the Allied bid previously? 2?

      Let me set up the next game, if you don’t mind posting our game in the League…

      Assuming a J1 DOW and a Japanese fleet sitting on or around Hawaii, how many turns will it take for the US to neutralize Japan in the Pacific?  3?  4?  Its about the equivalent of waiting a few turns as Japan before the US can DOW.  The tradeoff is Japan gains very little economic advantage and just keeps the US busy in the Atlantic until Japan loses most of its fleet that it cannot replace.
