      @Funcioneta:

      That is not so easy to see at first sight. Many will get confused and will try add west India IPCs to India total, and it’s pretty possible that West Canada IPC will be missed many times. Another point still unclear is if India and UK are going to have separate tech researchers. And for income board, it would be good have at least one India marker (it’s going to be more tricky sum the income without the board this time with so much territories here and there). In original AAP40, there was a separate aussie marker for that purpose (India and Australia had split income), so there is a precedent

      I thought India and UK would be one and the same.  This would go a ways towards putting the brakes on the Japanese express.

      Three allied victories so far but it’s always a very close thing.  One time deserved to be Japanese victory but the Jap player made a HUGE tactical blunder.

      @Frontovik:

      subs can’t do more damage than a countries’ value
      so japan + korea: max of 11 damage, even with 6 or 7 or 8 or 91569 subs ;)

      I should have said they were spread out in northern Japanese waters.  I had four by Japan and two SW of those.  I’m too lazy to pull out the board and quote SZ.  My bad.

      I’ve played three games with my brother so far.  It’s always very close.  Our strategy trend usually involves how fast Japan can take out China and India.

      In one game India was knocked out by turn three.  China survived until 7 by trading space for time.  Japan owned the DEI as well.

      During the first five turns Japan bought an IC and predominantly ground units.  At the same time America bought only navy and airforce.  At the end of turn 7 ANZAC and the US had a massive fleet and airforce stationed at the phillipines.  Japan’s navy and airforce were based in the SW.  Both of us were playing suicide transport games on the DEI.  He landed troops twice in Australia and got repulsed.  US had a slight navy edge from pouring it’s income into it to the exclusion of everything else.

      Every turn I managed to send a submarine into northern Japanese waters to peck away at his income.  When there were 6 there (-12 a turn for him) he pushed a naval battle and lost horribly.  I was able to break the DEI income for Japan permanently and he conceded having lost all of the Jap navy and most of his airforce.

      The point is that there are SO many strategies in the game that you can get a new experience every time you play it.  It’s not favored for one side or the other.

      @zarnak

      So you guys are taking a game that most people already believe is Allied favored, and making it even more so?

      I pity your Jap player

      In my second game Japan overran India by turn four.  China lived to turn 7.  That’s with the first turn income NO boost.  Japan owned the Dutch East Indies for a good while.  It’s income matched US/ANZAC put together and it was a nail biter for a good while with Australia repulsing attacks.  He finally made a tactical error with his navy that allowed the economic seesaw to finally move towards the allies.  With the DEI, China, and India Japan has an income in the mid-70s.

      Besides- if China is at war with Japan since 1937 and gets 6 bonus IPC for having the Burma road open - and it’s open to start.  Why not?  And the scramble rule as is is not popular either.

      I’ve played two games now.  It is very nice.  I can’t wait to get Europe when it comes out.  The balance to the game is such that the surface has barely been scratched as to tactics.  I do think it’s ever so slightly in Japan’s favor as the USSR isn’t there.

      Two things that my group has adopted:
      a)  You can scramble from an airbase when the seazone is attacked regardless of whether it’s an island or a territory.
      b)  If you start the game with one of your NO’s met - UK w/ Hong Kong and Malaysia, US w/ Phillipines, China w/ Burma road - you get the IC boost in addition to your starting income.
