Hey I like the new NA’s(national advantages) as much as the next guy but playing with 3 per country??? holy crow!! Doesn’t that kinda take away from the strategy aspect and put too much randomness in? I mean with 3 NA’s the brits could get radar, joint strike, and colonial garrison and thats it, game over! I always play with 1 per side unless playing a newb and then i give them 2…but 3??? OUCH

RE: Dilemmaposted in General Discussion
I’d pull the button out’ve the wall and sharpen it with my teeth and by scraping it against the floor, then when the guard opens the door to kill me i’d stab him in the eye with my button, grab his gun, and escape in a helicopter which i called in advance by tapping morse code against the ceiling to be intercepted by my near-by mountain radio crew
What if the guard just shoots you in your cell? No need to open the door then.

RE: Those pesky transport rulesposted in Axis & Allies Classic
But in the PC version (and the way i’ve always played board version) you can pick up and drop off in combat phase. I don’t see why a tranny can’t pick up and drop off in same turn…seems realistic enough to me.

RE: THE MOON!!!posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
I think you’re getting away from A&A a bit. Might as well add the moon and call the entire game something else. Modernize the rest of the units, like fighters are spacecraft, all naval “hover” instead of occupying water, things like that. You could possibly add natural disasters using a roll at the begining of every round, like failed orbital launch, alien invasion, comet\meteor strike on random territories… just a thought.

RE: Who's Nextposted in General Discussion
Cystic is right. There’s no oil or arabs in NK, therefore no reason for us to rush in there. And Kim Il Jong isn’t a complete moron. He knows that if he opens fire on SK that his days are numbered. It seems lately we’ve been having to clean up our old messes. We gave Saddam shitloads of $$$, equiptment, and training to fight the Iranians in the 80’s. So he gassed them and used the equiptment and cash to further his own crooked cause. And now we’ve got to deal with NK who didn’t have nuclear power until we gave it to them. Our US policymakers need to get their collective heads out of their asses.

RE: Warhammer 40,000posted in Other Games
I really enjoyed the computer version of Warhammer but if I tried to paint all those pieces my guys would look like they just came from a paint ball tourney. Plus I can’t keep my hands still enough to paint such small pieces.

RE: Looking for turn based computer gamesposted in Other Games
If you like sci-fi, Star Wars Rebellion by Lucas Arts is a pretty good turn based game also. It has VERY large maps and lots of different units. If you are a big star wars fan it is an even better experience. Lots of planet building and you can build some massive fleets. Also, they allow you to build the elusive Death Star which is really cool.

RE: Saddam: Dead or Aliveposted in General Discussion
I don’t think that Saddam is dead although I do think we have seen the last of him. He’ll probably go into hiding at one of his rich oil buddies homes and never be of any real importance. We have frozen most of his assests so I don’t see him being able to fund anything large enough to cause trouble. Who knows…maybe he’s hiding out in Tikrit his hometown, waiting for us to get there there so he can go out in a blaze of glory. Don’t be surprised if we see chem or bio attacks once we move into Tikrit. Apparently he has a pretty zealous following there being his hometown and all. Anyways, ol’ Saddam is a done deal.

Just a questionposted in Website/Forum Discussion
What sort of items are to be implemented in the “Downloads” section? Will that link be for PC A&A users, or will boardgamers find things of interest also??

RE: Thoughts on Chinaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific
I fail to see the point of trying to cap India through China anyways. Once the allies see Jap dumping hordes of troops to China they just sit back and stock up on infantry. I’ve tried to do this with Japan and by the time i get to India my reinforcements are 1+ turn away and my attacking force just kinda stalls out. If you gonna try to win with Jap capturing a capital, try Australia. Amass a fleet with loads of trannies and protect it with AC’s, a BB or 2, some DD’s and haul balls south. I have found that you are better off going for VP’s though, since Australia is in reach of fighters coming from US to help defend in 1 movement turn.

RE: A Russia Pollposted in Axis & Allies Classic
With the Ruskies i like to buy all tanks for the first 2-3 rounds (depending on Jerry attack rolls 1st and 2nd turn) to smash back the incoming Jerry infantry. This will usually frustrate the German player and force him to dedicate more troops for Russia and possibly leave France weak for Allied land assault. Becomes more effective with a few Brit fighters to help bolster the Russian lines.
