Do you know how many Art are bought in a game on average for China ?

I hope it will be at least Arty A3 D2, so chinese Inf will get A2+A3 for 5/8 or 62.5% which is nearer the OOB 4/6 (66.7%) combined arms.

This little case also shows that China might be better with a strong Arty A3 D3 because defense 5/8 (62.5%) will be nearer OOB 66.7% for Art+Inf.
Otherwise, 50% 4/8 combined defense is a whole D6 pip below OOB 66.7%

China need something because japanese Fighter and TcB keeps their usual OOB 50% attack per unit.

Interesting idea about Chinese Inf at cost 2.
Mostly the case with AA50.

Sorry for the late feedback. I was pretty occupied during the last weeks.  :-(

We did playtest the “Island Hoping” VO and in our opinion it worked very well. The Axis decided to do a G1 Barbarossa and a J1 Pearl Harbor. The idea was to force USA into a Pacific war and that way provide Germany the needed air to crush Russia. This idea worked and the US player did heavily invest in the Pacific to prevent Japan from getting the islands and later even more to get the islands himself. Because of this fact we would say that those new VOs are very good, because before there was not much to lose in the Pacific for the Americans, but a lot to win in Europe.

Resume, we will keep playing with the new VO in our next games and keep you informed!  :wink:

CWO Marc I am not talking the Tech, but rather the availability of Sonar for ASW on ships designed for ASW and not the U boat threat but rather U boats attacking in unison.
Another factor with historically accurate concepts has to be playability without getting overly complicated.

IE German assault guns over tanks was lack of resources….and the availability of chassis from outdated tanks like the PZ ll and PZ 38t to create a need in Self propelled Artillery and Anti-Tank vehicles. I assure you that the Tanks were preferred over assault guns. This concept has morphed in house rules to what these assault guns were actually intended to do. A Panzer Division commander would rather be supplied Panthers over JagdPanthers

It is more realistic to move warships from one SZ to another.
But, would you retreat more than 1 TT to repair your Tank?
(Land movement are much slower and falling back damaged Tanks while staying in position with Art and Inf make such delay an issue. You also have to compare between planes for the cost. Aircraft mobility and versatility is way more interesting than 2 hits units which have to return to IC for repair.)

IMO, it is easier to consider that such unit are repaired right on place with spare parts.

A different procedure I suggested a while ago is that you can only repair one and have to pick a damaged Tank as casualty before allocating a hit to damage another Tank.

So, instead of 10 Tanks staying on battle until the 11th hits.
A second hits eliminates a first Tank.
This becomes far less effective, but it is easier to follow a single damaged Tank per stack.

However, I did not search on how to calculate such way of allocating damage.

Guys, I’ve wanted to take down the Halifax Rules thread as a sticky for some time now, but members have protested in the past against it. The fact that I started the thread, the fact that I was the last to comment on it almost 2 years ago, and that there is another thread with over 100 pages that can easily act as a replacement… I feel that it’s time to unsticky it.

I would be glad to talk to you people in all aspects of the A&A games. I want to contribute to the A&A community since I am part of the community, and yes I am a die hard fan of A&A games, and beyond.

I am glad that I am still part of the A&A community so I contribute, and mend broken bridges. Hopefully I can see some of you in future tournaments, BUT NOT AT YG’s TOURNAMENT. I"ll stay home for that one.

One way to split the difference – getting more space while still visualizing on-the-spot what forces are located in a specific territory – would be to forget about blow-up boxes and, instead, to use accessories such as these clear plastic “Fleet Movement Stands” from Litko:

I was interested in these, so I bought a few.  I would post pictures but am unable to post images or links at this time.

IMO they are a bit large for use at initial setup, particularly in Europe.  But once the aircraft stacks combine they will be most useful.  I also think they will be great for the Pacific aircraft carriers.  I am happy with my purchase.  $28 and I received nine stands in less than a week (shipped to US).
