      @suprise:

      I like Stalag 17 and think it should be in the top 10

      Love “Stalag 17” top 10 probably for me. Not ‘the best’ though.

      Go here, this is our thread, at the bottom is a file to download which is my German combat move. Pretty much decide if you want to scramble then I will roll die here in the forum then make all the neccessary adjustment after combat, then do combat moves and repost with a new map. You then take that map and save as 1bR, and then take Russias go.

      What do I do with your attached file after I have downloaded it (it won’t allow me to open it) any way, I will scrabble 2XUK ftr and 1XFR ftr. into Sz 110.

      For any game with tech research in it, I like the tech being more likely to be discovered the more money you put into it. Instead of needing to roll a 6 on one die to discover the tech, you roll two dice and need to roll a 12, but for each previous roll, you get +1 to your current roll. So on the second roll you would succeed on an 11, on the third roll on a 10, etc. The average number of rolls needed to get the tech is about the same, but the variation is much lower. You’re much less likely to get it on your first attempt, but also much less likely to need 10+ attempts. To keep track of how many rolls you’ve made, place a die (or an airplane movement marker from Revised) on the tech chart where the control marker would go.

      Thanks much! I may attempt this project over the summer. Hopefully I end up with a great table and 10 fingers when I"m done…  :mrgreen:

      I would make you one, but shipping and handling would cost a fortune. If you don’t have a free table to use, try double stacking milk creates and resting the pieces on them.

      @Admiral_Thrawn:

      That’s not a bad idea Grasshopper! AA50 does have a lot of stuff to add to AAGlobal1940! Like Italian Tanks for one thing! Always felt that the convoys are distinctive enough on the board and you are bound to miss them if you are not super thorough. AA Europe convoys were so good for the battle of the Atlantic and wish we could have that for AA Global40.

      Much agreed, A&A 50th AE, I believe will become know as a turning point, or bench mark in the whole franchise. I’m worried about all those counters getting in our way, and I would like to get some plexiglass soon to cover them and the game board.

      @knp7765:

      @Young:

      My tech roll house roll would read, “any power with $30 or more at the beginning of their turn, will receive 1 free roll @6 to research technology, powers may not purchase more dice for research”

      You know, that actually makes sense.  After all, the smaller nations with smaller incomes (ANZAC, Italy, China) wouldn’t be spending money to develop new technologies.  Only the bigger nations would really do that.  One thing though, your rule cuts out UK and Japan, at least until they conquer more territory.  I find that hard to do for UK.  Although, if they manage to keep all original territories and get that $5 NO, round 2 they will have $33 or more so I guess that counts, right?
      It would be really cool to get a free roll each turn, maybe get some techs that you wouldn’t normally see played.  Might take a while though.  Rolling only 1 die could take a long time to finally get a 6.

      Income earned from NOs would definitely count, also, if the UK knew that they were going to receive at least $28, they could save $2 from their purchases to total $30 and get a roll their next turn. Japan would only be out for their first turn as the $10 peace bonus would be more than enough for round 2. I don’t see Italy benefiting unless the take most of africa, and I would have a problem with Russia getting a roll every round, but I guess that would put more pressure on the Axis to get them down to $29 or less. The point is, if you earn a roll great, but you still need to be lucky and roll a 6.

      Here is a graph sheet I made to record games that we can’t finish or can’t leave set-up. It may be basic but it has become extremely useful to our group.

      @spartan:

      on the mediafire download for the complete rulebook the 3 player setup does not include France :?

      Sorry about that! I must have done something screwy there…

      No, That was my bad. I left it off the original. If it turns out that thats the only mistake on the whole document…… not too shabby.

      It looks like a mixup of the 3 & 4 player setups. France is listed for the Russian player and British for 4 player.
      “Three Players: Player 1: Axis powers / Player 2: United Kingdom and ANZAC / Player 3: United States,
      Soviet Union, and China
      Four Players: Player 1: Axis powers / Player 2: United Kingdom, ANZAC, and France / Player 3: Soviet
      Union and France / Player 4: United States and China”

      Fixed it, can anyone spot any other errors?

      The rules make it a challenge, but like anything else, it has it’s time and place in the game. Wait for your opponent to leave a factory undefended with aircraft, or to slow down their economy when they need it most. IMO, Germany should have 2-3 bombers by G6 or G7 and should use them to make Russia spend precious dollars to repair ICs, while simultaneously combining with original Luftwaffe/methodical small naval purchases to keep the Allied fleets at bay.

      But… losing a bomber sucks.  :oops:

      You just know that everyone’s Sealion plans will go up in smoke if Larry gives us a workable SBR rule in Alfa+3.

      @Dijitz:

      G1 I SBR Britain with everything that can reach to open her up for a G2 Sealion. After that, I rarely SBR.

      On G1 I prefer to sink SZ 106, SZ 110 and SZ 111 instead of hitting complexes.  When you hit complexes, you might lose aircraft, when you hit the sea zones, you probably won’t lose aircraft.  This is very beneficial, I feel, when attempting Sea Lion, as you need every plane you can get, in my opinion.

      However, if I am NOT going Sea Lion, then starting on G2, I like to pummel England and build up some strat bombers. (I like to have 3, that means I should be doing 12 dmg if I dont lose any bombers, 8 with losing one.  Give or take.)

      If I go Sea Lion, I still like to have 3 strategic bombers, but I pummel Russia with them instead.  Those pesky Russian’s can easily out number you, if you are not careful!

      @Trisdin:

      However, I’m still thinking about a Minor IC in Romania (later in the game) just so I can combine a few artillery each turn.

      I was thinking:
      Buy 7 artillery turn 1. (save 2 ipc)
      Also move all starting artillery to Russia. (use planes to kill the French, and limit the naval battles to kill UK trannies and destroyers)
      Now you got a lot of artillery on the eastern frontline that later mech buys can exploit.

      I wouldn’t do that personaly.

      When I play Japan I try to leave the US alone for as long as I can.  I’ve tried different things but jumping in too early againd t the US can be deadly.  Next game I’m going to buy 2 Minor IC’s in the first turn and get them set up on the coast for a better land war capability against the UK and China.

      @afterword I like to put a IC in Burma and move troops down to FIC. I like to force a response from the Allies either with a IC in India by the UK or Russia moving to support. Anything that takes money or troops away from Europe helps.
