      You’ll need a dd G1 or G2 if you want to attack G3.

      Normandy G1 is not part of my Sealion plan, especially when you won’t be able to swing the 10 tt cause you’ll need to buy a dd.

      Think about Scotland landings on G2 and G3.  To do this safely, occasionally additional AC or dd purchases are necessary.

      Don’t stake everything on a G3 landing with less than 90% odds.  You can land Scotland and take it G4.

      Sun Tzu is famous for stating that the battle is often won or lost before your troops even engage the enemy.
      Alliances were key before the start of war.

      I would have

      1  Find a way to ally with the USSR for at least a decade  ( hard to do since Ger, Ity and Jpn were joined by treaty in the Axis as an anti-communist effort)

      1A Invite the USSR to attack the British through Persia.

      1B Concentrate resources to wrestle Arabian oil away from the British and their allies .

      2  Leaving the Mediterranean sphere to Italy was a disaster
      and I would have ended earlier.

      3  Italian troops should have gotten upgraded training before they were lost in the early going.

      4  I would have started joint military war games/exercises in Austria and Czechoslovakia with the German, Italian, and other axis troops to get them all up to par.
      This would get them all used to German close air support and combined arms tactics that worked so well in the french blitzkreig.

      5.  Invited the Japanese admiralty (especially Yamamoto) to inspect the European fleets soon after signing the Axis Tri party agreements

      6.  Yamamoto was opposed to the Rome-Berlin-Tokyo  Tripartite Pact.
      I would Court Yamamoto and win him over in a way similar to how Hitler got support from the Asters in the UK.

      7.  Sponsor alliance ready, facist-type, organizations in Egypt, Cyprus, Ireland, Norway, Iceland, etc… who would at least be neutral to the UK.  Whoever the Axis can use to gain leverage over the UK.

      8.  What worked so well in Norway should have been done in Egypt near the Suez Canal and/or Cyprus.  Before the Norway invasion.

      I’ve been reading the comics for about 5 years, I’d say.  I always buy the volumes as soon as they come out.  The show was pretty similar at first, but diverged.  Partly I think due to necessity to condense the plot, but also for some TV gimmicks for ratings.  I don’t like it as much as the print.

      That being said, I still enjoy it.  It’s a fairly good representation of the comics.  Certain things I haven’t liked about it, but I don’t complain too much.

      The only other thing I think will be an issue possibly is the series catching up to the comics and having to make its own ending.  Many people don’t like it, although I find it interesting.  Some of my favorite shows have done that (2 mangas I can think of - Gantz and Full Metal Alchemist), and I like seeing the interpretation as an alternate ending.

      Pretty sure one of my other favorite shows - Game of Thrones - will run into the same problem, but I’ve heard they’ve been told the ending to come in the next 2 books already to make the series compatible.

      @ryguy:

      I fully admit that I am too scared to watch that show.  Zombies scare the crap out of me so screw that.  I’ll stick to re-watching Lost.

      It’s fairly tame when it comes to the zombies as far as “surprises”.  It’s pretty graphic, but I don’t find it scary.

      I don’t want to see free french and Vichy french units the same color blue, and fighting for both sides.

      Well the Free French could be replaced with UK pieces, because essentially they were financed by UK.

      Vichy stays blue and note attacking one Vichy does not make the others go pro. They operate independently in a quasi loose association.

      I prefer simplicity. I prefer to have them operate like minor ICs except their bonus is one research die per turn instead of producing units. (when not damaged). I’m okay with a cap of 1 tech per turn. I’ll pass on the captured technology raid rule. I think having your enemy capture your research facility (and the free roll each turn after that) is reward enough.

      Having them operate like minor ICs let’s you build them on 2 iPc territories, which is necessary if someone like Anzac hopes to ever acquire any technology.

      Overall it’s a great concept.

      @Gargantua:

      Also… the research facility cost the same as all the other facilities for simplicity sake (15), not that it’s a huge deal…  and they also operated the same (built in AA, up to 6 damage, operable at 2 or less damage).

      I think handing out free research facilities at the beginning of the game may make things very tech heavy, but I understand the need to get some of the smaller nations involved. I suggest a price ladder for multiple facilities…

      1st Lab = $5
      2nd Lab = $10
      3rd Lab = $20
      4th Lab = $40
      5th Lab = $80
      6th Lab = $160

      This way, 1st Labs are practically free for UK, Russia, Italy, and India, but there is still a small risk for having one. It also makes nations who want more research rolls, to pay accordingly for them. I would still like to see ANZAC, France, and China ineligible, however, I like your idea of an invading nation choosing to steal a tech by destroying the captured facility, or keeping it for themselves, it solves some issues when capturing.

      I could be mistaken… but Purchasing TECH, might actually come BEFORE the repair units phase… in which case, a bombed facility, wouldn’t be able to roll for tech - until AFTER repairs, and a turn where it isn’t damaged again.

      Don’t we want players to spend for repairs, roll for research, and purchase developed weapons all in the same turn?

      1941 looks good, can’t wait to play it. I was skeptical about getting global… I was right on the money it turned out not so good and when alpha 3 came out, sure ok if I have time for it, it is good.

      The problem with adding units to Russia is that America/England have been made virtually impossible to kill.  So we either make the game more fun for Russia AND weaken USA/UK to make it possible to beat them again, or we don’t do anything and leave it a monochromatic game (attack Russia being the only viable strategy.)

      I, for one, seriously miss being able to do KEF.  I’m not saying it was an “I win” button, because it wasn’t.  But I miss the OPTION.  At least KCF (Kill Calcutta First) is still very viable.

      @Jermofoot:

      I had a friend rave about this movie.  When I told him I’d probably never go to see it, he started to describe the movie to me.

      If I hadn’t known him, I would have thought he was schizophrenic or something.

      I know what you mean, I tried to explain it to my wife who will never watch a movie like that, and half way though, I realized how crazy I sounded , so I just gave up.

      @Young:

      I just modified the entries correctly, very nice work from both of you, the reason I took so many pics of the ROE table was because it was very photogenic (and because it was a blast to play).

      Was IWNGU’s painted units the paratroopers crossing the road, or the last pic with the 3 in one?

      The paratroopers are the last pic of 3 (painted by Ken).
      The group crossing the road are German Grenadiers (painted by myself).

      @Vance:

      Thanks YG.  If you don’t mind I think I will post “espionage” as a separate house rule that could work with your tech system, or with just about any tech system for that matter.  You never know someone might use it or get an idea from it.  I love the idea of STEALING the other guy’s tech LOL

      Hey man, feel free to use any of my ideas for separate rules, I just ripped off some good ones from Axisplaya and I didn’t feel bad about it one bit 😏 As for espionage, I thought stealing a tech from an enemy might be to powerful for the 10 spot, so I modified it to say develop any tech that an enemy power possesses.

      It was a pretty cool came, you shoulda seen the bloodbath of a fight Saturday night with FMG. I haven’t played ROE exclusively but I have played a number of other similar tabletop games and after talking to the guys demoing it it sounded pretty similar to what I have already played. I was really into games like Flames of War and various Warhammer games in my late teen’s and early 20’s so i’ve got alot of experience with table top games like that. I’ve been thinking about picking up a copy of ROE for years and not the inclination to do so is even stronger
