great…now no matter what we say m36 you attribute it to left wing propaganda. no 36 i do not contend that all SS were bad, however, when hitler needed his dirty deeds done he turned to his SS.

Yes they could have made a belly landing on the hornet, however are you willing to risk 2 of the 3 carriers we had in the pacific to retrieve 16 medium bombers? 16 B-25’s would not even constitute a fighter in axis and allies, while two carriers would certainly correspond with a carrier in the real game. Which unit would be more important to you in a game of axis and allies assuming you play. So no, I do not believe it was foolish, the leadership played it safe. Both carriers used would play vital roles in the years to come. If lost would Japan have been stopped at Coral Sea or reduced at Midway.

I have no doubt the Japanese would have made significant inroads into Russia, but I do not think that they would have been able to maintain supply roads far into the interior of the Soviet Union. My only question is one concerning the personality of Stalin….how much if at all would he direct to oppose a japanese invasion? Or would he put up minimal resistence and let the supply lines strech till gurrillas could cut harrass them so much the japanese could not move any farther?

I have played a version where any land units in the US cost -1 to build and naval and air units -2. This better reflects the massive quanitites of material the US created and places more emphasis to build and transport units, making the war in the mid-atlantic that much more vital.

Perhaps its because of the reason for their existance. Their purpose. I feel that if those Germans wanted to defend their nation, then the wehrmacht was the way to go, not hitlers personal guard. in my mind, join hitlers personal guard and you ascribe to his political agenda.

problem is time….
working 70 hours a week really makes free time a premium…so playing gf, AA, halo 3(soon), and paintball are what take priority. -
RE: Cardsposted in House Rules
I teach history and have often thought of how to incorperate AA into some of my lessons. Unfortunately time constraints limits what I can really do with my middle school students. But I am very interested in what you do. If you need any help I will certainly like to be of some assistance.

Hitler created the SS. As a matter of fact he started with two “special forces” units. The SA andd SS. He had the SS arrest and kill the leaders of the of the SA. The SS was then indoctrinated with Nazi ideology. How many examples of SS atrocities would it take to convince you that the SS was a special forces unit which in large part carried out the fuhrer’s orders?

Italy would have historically had a very easier time taking the med but it was only for the british attack on toronto which sank a large portion of their surface fleet. ironically it was this attack which inspired the japanese (namely yamomoto) to try pearl harbor raid. In order to reflect mini sub options, my friends and I have it as a tech, whereas a country may use an infantry once per turn to try and sink enemy ship adjacent to where the infantry. On a roll of 1, the ship is hit. We have had some modifications to the rule, such as in pacific, its only if the ship is in a port zone, or if the attacker gets to choose the casualty etc. but its a good way to refect the mini-sub option.

RE: Nazi Germany VS The Soviet Unionposted in World War II History
i find it unlikely that ss units didn’t know what was going on.

RE: Nazi Germany VS The Soviet Unionposted in World War II History
It was SS units which hunted down Jews, political criminals, and other “rotents” in areas recently captured by Germany. Einstatzgroupen I believe they were called, which located and eliminated inferior groups of people. They comprised the fanatics, who were hitlers personal guard, who believed the shit he spouted whereas the wehrmacht was the army which was the most likely to not know about the atrocities of SS.
