    • RE: Carrier question

      Hi,

I think G misunderstood (or I did) what Sanford meant.

I believe what was meant is,

On your ally’s turn they load their troops onto your trn
On your turn you move your trn
On your ally’s next turn, they unload your trn

      For example,

UK1 trn moves to EUS sz
US1 2 inf placed on UK trn in EUS sz
UK2 trn moved to UK sz
US2 2 inf unload into Norway

Sinkiang and India, both with factories which build armor to harass Japanese land units in Asia.

    • RE: R1…Moscow fighter to Egypt

You can hit Ukraine from Egypt and land in Caucasus. Like I said I pull it out on R2 because by then the German initiative is lost in Africa. The Americans and British both can land in Africa on round 1 and holding Egypt on round 1 bottles up what is left of the Africa Corp.

Thanks DF, I hadn’t noticed that, maybe because I play 2nd ed normally and didn’t look at a Revised board before posting that reply :)

I might think about that move myself, though I’d hate to expose a Russian fighter to German units if they still can hit Egypt hard. What are the chances Germany could still hit and carry an EGY G1 assault in your opinion?

    • RE: Carrier question

Meaning if another players fighter is on the carrier…not yours though…correct?..(have to clarify)

      Yes Mr G,
Thats exactly what I meant. If it was your own fighters they have a chance to land. I think there may be a restriction on that, but I’d assume they were attacking, so it’s only the movement range like normal.

      Hey all,

I was only discussing building the factory as part of an Asian Wall (that’s the only reason to build any factory in Asia). Sorry not to make that more clear the first time. I think this idea has some merit, and we’ll give it a try sometime.

    • RE: Carrier question

The carrier can participate in the fight yes (doesn’t matter if there are fighters or not an AC can attack), however the allied fighter on the carrier does not participate in the fight and does die if the carrier dies.

Those are nice ideas Cutter. I might just try that in conjunction with a factory sometime…

Nope, bad Idea(Unless you use the Asia Wall Strategy posted somewhere here)….bad idea for a few reasons

That’s what I was refering to with the factory in India comment, the Asian wall requires factories in Sinkiang and India, or did I miss something?

    • RE: Carrier question

      Hey,

I believe the rule is that if you move THE CARRIER into combat with allied fighters 9not your own) aboard that they are cargo only. So clearly then, you should not do that. It isn’t a problem when defending, or when you launch your own fighters to attack, just don’t bring the carrier along…

    • RE: R1…Moscow fighter to Egypt

The only thing I don’t like about this is that I use the ftrs with infantry to attack weakly-held (strafe strong) German positions in the Ukraine, Balkans, etc on R2. If the fighters aren’t there, that’s a problem cause I don’t want to expose my tanks…

    • RE: Favorite Country

      Germany
      Japan
      Russia

I like Germany becaue it starts with so many initial units and initiates combat all over the place.

I like Japan because I like to carve up and conquer Asia/Russia and I like to mix IC construction with trn deployments.

I like Russia because playing them well, and aggressively enough makes a big difference in the game since they’re between the two Axis powers.

UK/US I like these about the same, in the end though they normally end up doing the same types of things in the Atlantic.

I’m guessing that touchdown was allowed because the Pats thought they couldn’t lose….

Unless I’m misunderstanding you, absolutely not. You never let a team back into a game by choice…

they probably weren’t playing the tightest defense they had been playing during that play

That’s what happened, the coverage package changed and broke down, then they got burned. It was a big mistake! What New England wanted to do was let the Eagles catch passes for 7-8 yards and then tackle them inbounds so the clock would keep running. That’s what they had been doing the entire drive. They were playing it safe, so that Philly couldn’t score the way they did and wouldn’t have a chance to score and get the ball back.

      austrailia?..…is that a joke?

Maybe it was, or maybe he felt that there had to be 3 options in the poll.

By the way, what’s the relevance of the question to the poll question.

I dont’ think the Pats offense was terrible DF. Lets give some credit to Philly you had the 2nd or 3rd best overall D in the league (or course the Pats had the 2nd or 3rd, just don’t remember who was best technically).

I didn’t really see the Eagles receivers dropping too many passes. I did see McNabb throwing 4 yard outs behind receivers, at their feet, and over their heads. I also saw him get lucky that a few more passes weren’t picked off (one went right thru the Pats cb’s hands…)

The Patriots didn’t play a perfect game, but were generally consistent in their own boring, yet effective, style. McNabb on the other hand, probably did choke. He never settled down and his passing was off all night. Then we get to the fact that he was still calling for the team to huddle up with less than 3 minutes to go and them needing 2 scores… and that was after the center tried to get him to call plays at the line. Inexcusable. The question really is, did McNabb not go into the 2 minute drill after Reid told him to or did it slip Reid’s mind as well? Either way, the ‘veteran leadership’ seemed to choke on the Eagles offense…

what happened to the Eagles’s offensive line

The Pats D line and backers- yeah, they’re pretty good.

I think the blame of the loss should rest on McNabb’s shoulders

I agree, but normally it’s easier to point at the coach.

Onside kicks are so iffy, if they’d had all 3 timeouts I presume they would have kicked deep, but not having them…

I’m still really surprised New England gave up that late touchdown, that was a prime time breakdown in the coverage and opened a bit of a door. Not something New England normally does in big games. I’m guessing it was caused by the second string safety who came in to replace the one injured on special teams during the first half.

You should probably define what you mean by important. There aren’t any victory cities in Africa or Australia for instance…

If McNabb hadn’t choked the rest of the Eagles might in fact have been good enough to win that game. I’ll be interested to hear if McNabb gets criticized for playing the way he did, or if people will look at his stats and think he did better than was actually the case.

TO was impressive though, to an extent which surprised me. Now was Jevon a disappointment or was NE’s O-line that good? I think it was the later.

Why did so many Eagles have cramps, too much goofing off, not enough water drinking 2-3 days ago.

Will the Eagles collapse now or will Reid find a way to get them up for next year? That’s a big question since they signed big contracts last offseason to get to over the hump this year…

Why I never bet on the SuperBowl:
      Pats win - yes
      Pats score first - no
Pats cover the spread - no
Total points over 40.5 - yes

      Good game all in all

Let us hope there are no “wardrobe malfunctions” this year!

The Go Daddy spoof was funny. I can imagine an FCC stiff falling out of his chair anticipating the complaints now :)

Nice game so far, did it seem to anyone else like the Pats woke up after the Eagles took the lead? I think both teams started making their halftime adjustments at about the 10 minute mark during the 2nd quarter.
