    • RE: Need Help to Finalize HBG Japan Set!

      i’m hoping for a pershing and b-29 in future set.

      The problem with a heavy japanese tank is: what they called heavy would be a light tank in the german or russian army. Same for a heavy tank for italy. I believe (and i’m being to lazy to look it up right now) that the “heavy” japanese tank mounted a 57mm gun. That’s a smaller gun than the Sherman, Panzer IV, T-34, late model Panzer III. And those are all Medium to Light Tanks, depending on the tank. 88mm for the Tiger, 122mm for the IS-2, 90mm for the Pershing. Nothing the Japanese fielded or planned to field stacked up against this tanks. They had Tank Destroyers that had the gun but not the armor to compare to these tanks.

      That’s why I want a medium tank for my japanese collection and I’m fine with using a Tiger in Japanese color for a heavy.

      @coachofmany:

      Truck stays.

      Thank you

      And Japan is getting a heavy tank, everyone is. It’s going to be either the IS-2 or Tiger from '41. I know japan didn’t have tigers and UK & USA didn’t have IS-2, but they still work.

      @robbie358:

      Then Germany flips out like that guy on youtube that went ape.  After I explain to him that it all could have been avoided by a better G1 strategy.

      I stopped explaining to other people there mistakes along time ago for that very reason. Rarely I will offer advice in a face to face game (post game advice) and I even once offered an indepth teaching of the game but he was a friend for 7 years at the time. but as far as something like well you wouldn’t be fighting these fights if  you planned things out better. Never. My dad did that to me as a kid playing risk sucked the fun right out of it.

      One day maybe this summer I’m going to make a gaming table. I’m still thinking on what I want from it. right now I’m thinking a piece of plywood with 2x4 under structure. Being able to use it for multi things (gaming and work bench) is important to me and something to breaks down and can be stored is also important.

      i agree I prefer to use the aircraft vs. france. to preserve those tanks and artillery for hitting Russia. The Royal Navy can be distracted or out right crushed on G2. By not crushing the navy on G1 the UK player will feel safe and not buy ships or ground troops to defend london. The G2 sinking of the Royal Navy will completely catch him off guard. You risk screwing Italy. But the final goal is Moscow not Africa.

      I set a Global up on my tablesaw top. It’s the only table in the house big enough to hold the whole game. The piece trays I have and all the charts go on a seperate table.

      I still say Uk should be first. It’s the only of the 5 basic powers that don’t have a set even Italy and France will have a set out before UK.

    • RE: Release Date?

      well if it’s not going to be released for another 5 and half weeks are you going to do more previews of the game? I was thinking maybe 2 more one a week till 3 weeks out by then you should be getting your copy of '42 2nd edition. Don’t ask me what you should do in the previews I think you got it pretty much covered but maybe someone can come up with an idea or two.

    • RE: Release Date?

      lol so it has two release dates June 19th and July 27th. It would depend on which sales flyer your local store saw and believe. Wonderful that’s awesome. Wouldn’t mind so much if mine said the 19th. Maybe I’ll check walmart and toys’r’us and see what they say.

      i just had to rebuy BotB but understanding the combat rules have been the bane of my existence. I didn’t get it when it came out, I didn’t get it when i went back to it a year later, but i’m hoping that the third time is the charm.

    • RE: AA 1941 or AA Original?

      I think it’s the lack of artillery that is reminding so many people of classic. It was the last global axis and allies game without artillery. Those tried and true classic strategies are back in this game. also the lack of victory cities. It’s back to capture the capital from classic.

    • RE: Preview: Rules Differences

      I still think of the game is a classic r/g/b/j/a turn order. Even when i’m coming up with house rules i come up with the rule and do a run down to see how effects everyone and I use the basic turn order to do this
