      Every single time I set up France which is done last, I pull the pieces out and go to put the first tank on the board and go  :-( oh yeah they’re Russians. So yeah being able to step back and look at the whole board and smile at how just awesomely cool it looks would be really kick ass. I hate blue Russians so much I’ve toyed with the idea of using the French units from A&A14.

      @John:

      @knp7765:

      Hey Guys,
      There are four sets currently in the “Design Stage”:
      UK Supplement Set – This one is closest to being finalized
      World War 1 French/Neutral set
      World War 2 France Early War set – If you think about it, that’s all France really needs. France as a nation was only in the early part of the war. After that they were Occupied France.
      World War 2 Japan Basic set – This set will include every piece that is used in the Global 1940 game so you can actually replace your OOB pieces with HBG pieces (or simply have more options if you like).

      After those, the rest has been just talk so far. However, I have seen sculpts for a USS Enterprise carrier, a Midway class carrier and an F-86 jet fighter that could be included in a possible US Expansion set.
      Also, there has been definite talk of a second Axis Minors set that will have even more German equipment in it. Here are some of the ideas:
      Panzer IV tank
      Stuka dive bomber
      A new Mechanized Infantry piece, possibly SdKfz 250 or SdKfz 7-1
      Deutschland class Pocket Battleship
      German infantryman in a long coat (winter dress?)

      Those are all I can remember at the moment. Also, I’m sure at some point they will be making another Russian set to cover later war equipment. Maybe even a set with some Russian Navy vessels. Even with these new expansion sets for the Global game, I’m sure they will keep making nation sets as well. Just from a business standpoint, they sell too dang good for them not to make them.

      Thanks for sharing your info. I would think nation sets would always sale. I didn’t think about it, but your right, Early War France is all that you would really need.

      Late war would kind of makes sense seeing as they used alot of american lend lease equipment in the late war but that can be handled by a wisely made American set also made in French blue. But whatever it takes to get my sad blue Russians off the game board.

      Oh god I forgot about Xeno games pieces they made the classic pieces look good.

      Another early expansion set for the original Milton Bradley A&A game was Enemy on the Horizon, made by a now-defunct company in (I believe) Nova Scotia.  I have a couple of copies of this set, which provided three types of units: infantry (paratroops, as I recall), destroyers (large enough to be cruisers) and artillery (like the destroyers, rather large in size).  The units were in the original five MB colours.  The troop pieces were fairly decent, but the other two units didn’t have much in the way of detail.

      I remember that one. the Infantry piece was Commandos. And the destroyers looked more like the transports from A&A14 to me.

      a SdKfz 7-1 would be awesome I was going to ask them if they thought about making mobile AA guns for all nations and a SdKfz 7-1 would be a good start. It’s good to hear that HBG stuff is selling well and they have no plans of stopping anytime soon.

      I would like if they would do a universal set before they start slowing down to focus on the expansions. By universal I mean Major and Minor ICs, plastic airbases, plastic naval bases stuff like that. It could and should be done in 1 color neutral grey.

      There’s really no info there but it’s there. I have no idea about a 2nd German set. I’m not sure what units could even be in the set. Interesting thing of note: the WW2 French set also says “Early War”

      Yeah I know I’m very curious to know what’s after the French set. I know there’s a 3rd Japanese set they are working on and based on the names of the sets there’s another Russian set they are going to do but after that I have no idea.

      There is another Russian and Japanese set, that they are going to do?

      I didn’t know that.

      When was that announced?

      I missed that, somehow.

      Russian set I’m assuming based on that the Russian set is call “early war” so that stands to reason there will be a “late war”
      The 3rd Japanese set was announced when they announced they were doing the first Japanese set they said they were doing 3 sets of Japan in a row. It’s on there site somewhere I’ll see if I can find it for you.

      Something occurred to me last night and I’ve very curious to know. But I hope these new sets as awesome as they look like they are going to be doesn’t mean they stop doing the individual nation sets. And I would like for them to do sets in WW2 sets in WW1 nations colors and vice verse.

      Man, I would hope not, because I still need the Russian sets because I missed out on those. I would hope Doug and the gang would still do them. I guess we can always let Doug know, we still want new models for each country in a variety of different colors. I don’t know if he will mix the world war 1 and 2 colors, but we can always ask him. I’ve talked to him several times on the phone, and he is really cool about answering your questions. He is always about customer satisfaction. I guess we shall see about the continuation of country sets.

      OMG they are awesome at answering questions, normally. Since the holidays they’ve been a bit of AWOL but who doesn’t go AWOL every once in a while? I’ve asked him about mixing colors and he didn’t answer but it was on the forums. I still need a bunch of the sets. I’m going to be placing a big order when the Russian set gets restocked. He did say it would be mid-February.

      Hey Tigerman,
      I don’t think the scope of the game has to be any bigger than D-Day. I just want something that has a more tactical aspect, but still A&A. I felt BOTB got a little too “Not A&A.” I don’t want to learn a whole new game! Thanks, I would totally buy a Historical Board Gaming Theatre game!
      Freddy

      I agree BotB didn’t seem A&A much at all

      @John:

      Yavid, I got to thinking, some of these sets will be apart of the 1936 map, so the Spain set will workout well because the country was torn in two before WW2, and the new map coming out at the end of the year has 3 starting points. The map will have a 1936, 1939 and 1942 setup, so it is not out of the question that Spain will work on the 1936 setup because of their civil war and with political situations that can be added to the game, especially with the diplomacy set and rules, it could get interesting. If your just into world war 2 era, the 1942 setup is what you would start with.

      This maybe why, HBG is making these different sets because of the different set ups, you can start with, and I bet that they will have a post WW2 setup later, where the US will go to war with Russia, after the defeat of Germany and Japan. If you noticed on HBG’s site, the sets start at 1936 to 1946 post WW2, for future expansions.

      The zombie set was just probably thrown in for something different. That is just my guess, LOL. It is all good, I guess. :-D

      John

      Yeah I kind of like the Spanish Civil War stuff. I’m really interested in that map/game. The thing with me is WW1-WW2 stuff so even a Russia invades Poland in the 20s would have my interest. The Patton’s Charge East (it’s the after the war is over and USA goes to war with USSR set) well they would be using pieces that had the war lasted another year or two (longer game than normal) than that equipment would be used so I’m interested. Zombies would need something really special. I personally hate zombie movies.

      I do think they should do an Air War expansion really dive into SBR and Air Superiority. Stuff like B-24s, P-47s, Me-163s (I mention stuff HBG or WotC hasn’t made yet) I know IL said something about a full game on the subject but nothing came of it that I know of.

      I’m hoping Pacific War fixes the “problem” that there’s no reason to fight for 0 IPC islands so Japan doesn’t take them and the famous American island hopping never happens. WW2 the 2 battles that decided the Pacific War was over 0 IPC island (Midway and Solomons) in Axis and Allies it’s about Hawaii and Truk (I’m forgetting the islands name right now) and only Truk because of the Naval Base.

      I guess it’s what I’m really hoping for from the expansions. And I’ll get off my soap box and stop ranting.

      Why question is a general question not something about a specific game. and I’m talking about questions like “I read the rulebook and can’t find it what are all the dice for?” type question.

      Krieghund when you get asked a question that is clearly in the rulebook do you ask yourself if the person even read the rulebook? or have you just gotten used to silly questions sometimes?

      THIS IS NOT ABOUT ANY QUESTION ON THIS TREAD OR FORUM. IT’S ME WONDERING.

      These are new ones, Some of them are more sci-fi based. Like Patton driving into Russia, or Spain joining the war. There’s 25 on the site to be voted on.

      Yes, I noticed the Patton one as a, “What if?” scenario, just like Spain. I will get most of these, and there is some that I will buy more of, than others. The zombie be one is still up in the air for me, LOL. :-D

      I won’t be buying all of the what if scenarios and will not buy the zombie one well unless there’s something else in the game that makes me want it but zombies are a negative not a positive for an A&A set for me. The big thing for me personal is there anything in the set I can use in a WW2 game.

      @Yavid:

      about 15 years ago I played a game of World at War and seeing as in that game there was nothing stopping me (russia) from doing it. I decided to let the Axis bribe me into joining the Axis. Oh that was a fun game. Next game we played the Allies were sure to make sure I had there backs

      I had a game of Revised when I was in college where the Russian player was that guy in every group of friends that nobody likes…Anyway, the other Allied players were not exactly coming to the aid of Mother Russia, and he was getting annoyed (Stalin-style).

      Me, being the German player, made a proposition that he join the Axis since the Allies were being so rude to him. We quickly hashed out the territorial ownerships, and proceeded to completely thrash the US and UK. Totally not allowed under the rules, but it made for one of the more memorable games I’ve ever played.

      Those can be fun games.

      Those I think are the funnest games because the Allies have no idea how to handle it. The Axis have no idea how to take advantage of it. The game plays out so completely different.
