    • RE: IC builds for G?

I don’t think I have this kind of athority but I think this topic should pretty much be over.  I mean you have sixteen… SIXTEEN units you can build just with your beginning ICs.  If you actually are rich enough to buy more than sixteen infantry DON’T, buy a tank or go crazy and buy a bomber.  If you can build more than sixteen infantry the game is basically over.

The only time I have ever built an IC as Germany was when I had already beat Russia.  The game was already won for the Axis and I was just fooling around and put one in Western Europe so that my navy could reach U.S. quicker (total victory).

    • RE: Africa

IMHO, Africa is a fluid coninent.  You just need to take a look at it and decide if you should send more troops.  I think of it as a balancing act, if the allies put too many forces in Africa then Russia could be in some deep S***, however if they don’t put enough into Africa then Germany is making some BIG BUCKS, and then Europe is in some depp S***.  The same goes for Germany if they put too much in then they will lose in Europe, but not enough in and they won’t be making many IPCs (not too mention UK will be a beast).

    • RE: Pearl or no Pearl???

I am wondering Nix what would your attacks on Germany look like without those 2 tanks on R1?  If anybody has an idea you can post it in his place, I am leaving for my uncles house and we’re gonna play a&a tonight.  I really wanna try this strategy it sounds like a good way to delay Japan or even drive him off Asia (novice Japan)!

    • RE: Biggest D-Day blunder

Well actually the battle of britain itself was not necassarily a German mistake.  The way the battle of britain was fought was a mistake.  In the beginning of the battle the Germans were smart to only target the British airforce.  However, the air battle was lasting longer than Hitler wanted… so he decided he would bomb London instead.  All of the german generals thought this was a huge mistake and wanted to keep attacking the airforce.  In fact on the day that they started targetting london there were only 14 operational planes in the whole UK.  If the German generals would have had their way the Germans would have won the battle of britain.

    • RE: USSR Strategies

That sounds like a good idea, but I haven’t seen anyone use it in the games on the board.  Maybe you should try it out.  Will it leave the German front a bit weak though?  Would you be able to attack Ukraine?  Would you lose those tanks quick against Japan?

Yeah I think an IC build against a newb in Arrica might be a fun idea (not a good one).

Maybe you could make a thread about your strategy.  Unless your waiting to unleash it against one of the people here?

    • RE: How long do your Games Last?

O dear I see.  Yay I know what you mean, I guess I was kinda different as a newb.  When I first played, I was against a somewhat experienced player.  So my first game (as allies) I would do my turn very quickly so I could see how he would do one side.  Then on the second game (as axis) I’d do kinda what he did to me, to see how he reacted.  In that way of action and reaction I learned to play my turns quick and kept it that way.  And I hate to just sit around.

      Hoodwinked (I hope this isn’t spam)…

Yay it’s way before that I doubt you could push Japan back to the ocean.  Maybe G6-G7?

    • RE: What is your favorite country to play?

What does “comment from peanut gallery” actually mean?  I’ve heard this phrase over and over again.

Also, I have never said in this forum that I am a genius.  I’m in highschool and understood the typo right away, and I don’t think many people under highschool play this game (I may be wrong).  So my thinking was that if I could understand it, everyone else did too.

In a lot of places people will ask what they mean when someone mispronounces something just to be a jerk, so I thought this was somewhat similar.  Sorry if I offended you.

    • RE: Number of victory cities?

We sort of just eyeball it.  If a capital is taken we will play for a few more rounds.  Sometimes it’s fun to play even if you know a team has lost.  It’s fun to make a huge stack of battleships and pound the crap out of Japan, or UK.

Where can I find these enhanced realism rules?  They sound like they kick ass.  Can you provide a link?

    • German Turtle

What exactly is the German “turtle strategy”.  I know it has to do with putting most of you forces by Germany and Western Europe.  But how exactly is this done.  Which territory do you keep most land units?  Should you keep a buffer from USSR?  Where would you put you air force?  Would you only buy infantry?  Would you defend Southern Europe heavy too?  What should you look for to figure out if you supposed to go “turtle”?  When is the best round to start turtling up?  Please elaborate on this "turle strategy.

    • RE: Germany Strategy concept…

Well I’m not sure EXACTLY what a turtle strategy is with Germany, but in my mind, you would keep a small buffer zone with Eastern Europe, and Balkans?  So maybe your two turns away from Russia.  But I think if Germany’s “turtle” was in Germany and three turns away from Russia than you could still turn most of you attention towards Japan.  I mean if Germany turned his massive forces on you by that time you could have 24+inf in Russia just off of builds.  Also you would be retreating your remaining infantry from the Eastern front and the Asian Front.  So you could have a sizable force in Russia by the time Germany reaches it. I’m thinking maybe 40 inf? :-o If you push Japan significantly back, that could buy you 4 more rounds until Japan is at Russia again.  Lets say it take Japan 5 rounds to reach Russia.  5+4, thats 9 rounds already.  I think usually Germany is out by G9.

    • RE: Would you have tried it?

I definately would have tried it.  Any time that you can do an Operation Sea Lion after G1, I do it.  G1 Operation Sea Lion is cheap and it ruins the game.  However, if you invade England later there’s still a chance that the allies can win.

Russia is the funnest for me because IMO it’s funner to save your own ass rather than someone elses.

I actually am starting to like Germany better.  I mean the constant land war on the Eastern front is great.
