Just give Canada a factory and a convoy. Hell, give the UK a minor one in England if you want them to spend the money elsewhere.

The boats should have some escort, so Germ has to choose between using the airpower on the transports or on crushing the hell out of France.

If it was stealthy and hit the airfield before the fighter scrambled. Israel did this, granted they used fighter-bombers.

Some supplies went through India and Archangelsk. Perhaps an NO to hold 2/3 of them?

A testament to the poor quality of Japanese ww2 tanks: Shermans cut them to shreds in combat.

RE: Two Ideas for the Allies. What do you think?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
You mentioned something about 7 US transports? I use 3. All of the money needs to go into naval power to take out the Japanese naval power. The ground troops don’t need to be that numerous, since they’ll have so much naval support and will likely only be taking coastal territories.

Combined Allied Moveposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
A major sticking point among my friends in playing Axis and Allies is the wait time between turns. In Pacific1940 the allies go directly after Japan, one after another. I would love a house rule allowing for one, combined allied move, perhaps with only combat being resolved separately. This would deny can openers, but also allow easier visualization of strategy for the allies. Of course, something could be done for Japan for balance. It just seems like an interesting idea.

Japan should have to pay upkeep for units in non-coastal Russian territories. The reason they went to war with the allies was to seize BADLY needed oil resources.

RE: Opinion poll: Who is favored to win? (Day 36 to 43 from release date.)posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
ah but apparently it isn’t even in small samples or large.
my group has japs win 100% of the time, but from what i’ve read on the boards here, it is an allied game (like all AA variants sadly) and America always wins apparently.
it seems to me that this game comes down more than others to that huge epic fail on the part of one player to determine the outcome. A little too much like chess for me.
All AA games are allied games? Did you play AA50?

RE: American split income?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
If the distance between Eastern and Western factories is a factor forcing a split, should we also split Brits income from Indian and African ventures? No. That’s stupid.

RE: Barbarossaposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I think the idea is to make attacking Russia as Japan not wise unless the US pays no attention to that front, at which point the energy which would have gone into fighting the Eagle can instead go to the Bear.

Artillery with the Burma Roadposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I have as china, on occasion, opened the road for the 6 extra IPC. However, I have never had it from the beginning of a turn, and thus never gotten artillery. My issue is, it is nearly impossible to have it open from the beginning of the turn and thus get artillery.

RE: Cruisers?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Just let each cruiser roll a single AA die in opening fire and I’d throw quite a few in to deter massed air strikes, which still seem to be the bane of a fleet.

RE: Clarification On Dutchposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Incorrect. UK and Anzac may land planes, because DEI is allied to them. It just needs to be occupied to gain its income.

RE: American split income?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I think that in the event of a US v Japan and Germ conflict in reality, the US might have been able to take out Japan, but getting enough men into Europe to defeat the entirety of Germany would be a longshot. In the end, I think it would be a number of inconclusive naval skirmishes, some angry glares, and then some sort of peace agreement.

RE: Question: Number of Players in AAE/AAP40 World Gameposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
France should get to go before Germ, so he at least gets one round of entertainment.
In my ideal 8-man game I’d give France to China so he gets a taste of boats and planes.

RE: Technologyposted in House Rules
My friends and I use a slightly revised tech. A LL, of sorts. Instead of buying additional dice, one simply buys sides on a die. This eliminates diminishing returns, so one could theoretically buy a tech for 30 IPC (this has only happened once, by Americans). That way getting tech is a fairly reliable investment, you will almost definitely get something, but what you get is still random. We also allow the elimination of one technology, which is invariably super-subs.

RE: Whats the point of neutrals?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I think neutrals will be oversimplified, but house rules would be easy to make. The one absolutely stupid thing is that attacking one province of a nation does not mobilize the others. If one were to invade Rio de Oro, Spain would definitely join up on one’s enemy’s side. The same goes for Mongolia.

RE: Sea Lion: Scotland trading?posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Having a fleet, planes and a few trannies in the Baltic lets you threaten Britain and Russia, while defending your Scandinavian holdings. Brits will have to be wary of an attack and waste precious resources in anticipation. And if he does, simply use the fleet, airforce and trannies on other things.

RE: German IPCs (SCARY)posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I am excited for the big US income. They’ve been rather unimportant in the prior games. With this boost, they are a legitimate power that cannot be ignored.
