    • RE: Preview 5 is online: National Objectives

      A few questions, Krieg.

      1. For the British NO, do they have to by some herculean feat destroy the subs in the Baltic as well?

      2. For the British and American liberation NO’s, do each of them have to take a different place from the Jerries, or if the UK lands, followed by the US, do both get the bonus?

      I got mine from Florida, which is great because I’m in Texas.

      They have a vast array of comics, if you ask. I say this as one who doesn’t know anything about comics, though, so take it with a grain of salt.

    • RE: What with the neutrals in Global 1940?

      I think it would make more sense if it only changed the neutrals on that particular continent to the other side.

    • RE: HEAVY BOMBERS NERFED TO WORTHLESSNESS???

      Besides, with more territories it will be tougher for fighters to participate in combat and also land at the factory to defend.

      I’d recommend midnight comics. I’m not sure about Pacific, since it’s a limited pressing it may be sold out; they ought to have Europe, though.

    • RE: Tank Purchases R.I.P.

      You can run battle sims with a pencil and paper if you have the time.

      But aside from that, I’d say 6 IPC tanks are worth a try. If Larry playtested it at all, he obviously still saw them used at some capacity. When you need quick firepower two or more spaces away and the front can’t wait for infantry, tanks will be a good buy. When you need soaks for them after winning that battle, the mechs will be great. Mech/Tank will now just be the Cadillac alternative to INF/ART, for nations like Germany because the time advantage is worth the extra money.

      I think that a mech/tank germ will be no weaker for the changes than a straight tank germ used to be, because although tanks cost six now, they’ll almost always have available 4 IPC soaks.

    • RE: Sealion inevitable?

      I believe that with full, unhindered investment Germany could do Sealion on turn 3. However, we should remember that major ICs downgrade into minor ones upon capture, so I doubt Germ could produce enough in the UK to hold it in the face of American aggression. And on turn 3, Germ will be hurting from that huge naval buy and vulnerable to the Russians.

      I think the most viable strategy is to have enough of a fleet to threaten both the UK as well as Northwest Russia, in order to force both parties to be prepared for an attack instead of attacking you.

    • RE: Italy go after France and Germany go after Russia.

      Italy can handle Southern France. Germany is good for the rest.

    • RE: Political Question

      That’s balanced out by the ungodly high cost of a major complex. An IC in Norway is nice, but it still isn’t better for fighting in the med and north africa. All you get for 30 IPCs is the ability to fight in northern Europe. I’d rather build a minor, to be honest.

    • RE: True Neutrals question

      You don’t need to hit Switzerland. If the allies get there, you lose. I say Spain, Sweden and Turkey. If its just a Europe game, no one suffers from Mongolia.

    • RE: Tanks too expensive

      The higher the dice, the higher the chance to get a hit. With more dice of lower numbers, the chance to hit one is lower but you can often hit multiple.

      2 tanks on D have a 75% chance to hit. 3 INF have a 70% chance to hit. The INF can get 3 hits, though, if you’re lucky.

    • RE: Soviet minor industrial complex in Amur

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      @cond1024:

      If I was Japan I would love for Russia to attack me every game R1, because to take Korea they would have to send at least 3 inf and the more inf they divide up the easier it is for Japan’s mighty airforce to take them down.  I would have no problem  as Japan to take 1 turn to eliminate the Russian Northern threat even if it delayed my attacks against UK.

      Any troops Russia sends into China are fewer troops available to fight the Nazi when they come.

      Yeah…15 planes vs 15 inf.

      I’d sacrifice all 15 inf to take out half that many of Japan’s planes. Taking out that much of the airforce would sink the Japanese permanently in that theatre provided the Americans use what’s necessary to capitalize.

    • RE: Technology?

      I just do it so everyone gets a tech die and can buy numbers on it for 5 apiece. This eliminates diminishing returns for spending more than 5 IPCs on tech and makes 30 IPCs a guaranteed tech.

      For instance, spending 15 nets you a 50% chance per turn, as opposed to 42%.

    • RE: Technology?

      @Fighter212:

      you buy the tech token on that phase of your turn
      than you roll the amount of dice that you have tokens
      if you roll a six or more on one dice  than one you get a reasearch
      choose chart one or two and roll another dice
      what ever number you get is the tech you get
      exemple: roll 6 select chart 2 roll 2 you get jet fighters

      you keep tokens untill you get a six than you lose all of them

      6 or more? I wish I could roll a d20 for tech.

    • RE: What with the neutrals in Global 1940?

      Invading strict neutrals is suicide. The only possible way to do it would be to hit Spain, Turkey and Sweden simultaneously, and even then it would still leave a large number of infantry to your enemy.

      This is completely insane. How is the US supposed to do its job in the pacific and Europe without pulling around 100?

      I like the pro-axis neutrals. However, I demand that Finland’s garrison gets doubled defense values until Germany joins the war, because they OWNED the soviets.

    • RE: What should the US do with the Phillipines?

      As US I always leave the infantry, fighter and destroyer to make Japan send at least a few ships and a pair of transports. That way it sucks up some Japanese resources off of the vulnerable powers.

      I’ve tried loading Philippines with as much as possible to put a rock between Japan and India in case of a J3 attack. I can get a couple of fighters, a tac and four infantry there by that time, which is a lot more annoying than it sounds due to the fact that the airforce can be in either battle: They have to put enough in the sea to take out a 2, a 3, and a pair of 4’s, as well as enough on land to take out 4 2’s, a 3, and 2 4’s. That’s three trans and some airforce on land, as well as a few ships and some airforce in the sea just for the one island, and he’ll still take some casualties.

    • RE: Russia

      Well, that’s because the game is supposed to follow history as closely as possible while also

      1. Not forcing the players to make the same decisions (but encouraging them a bit)
        and
      2. Ensuring balance and fairness, an element not completely in line with history
