    • RE: Just received the game! Anyone have setup in a document?

      @Omega:

      Still need to know the units per nation

      There is a list at the Europe 40 entry of boardgamegeek.com, and someone posted a list of his units here on the forum (prolly on page 2), which lead to others posting theirs…showing quite some differences.

      I am still missing all my Russian units…  :cry:

      Research development

      Can ANZAC research developments?

      Can France research developments?

      Do you have to be at war to research?

      Thanks in advance……

      Yes.

      Yes, if they still have money on F1 (but why :S )

      No.

      @Daedelus:

      Unless you upgrade the factory from minor to major the following turn in which case you can build 6 units.

      You can’t build 6 units

      In the same turn you upgrade a Minor IC to a Major IC you can only place 3 units. Next turn you can place 10.

    • RE: Missing French Pieces

      Okay, I made a promise to myself not to %^&# too much about my missing pieces, but with the reply I got, they got me pissed off.

      Initial mail wasn’t responed to, so I sent a reminder. And here’s what they said:

      _Hello,

      Your e-mail was forwarded to the person handling these issues, however he was unable to look at it yet due to the Magic the Gathering Pro Tour in Amsterdam this weekend.

      I am sure he will look at it and help you as soon as he is back.

      Kind regards,_

      @Woodstock:

      @jeffdestroyer:

      @Flying:

      Convince me. I liked Revised. AA50 gave me that little bit of extra dimension that I wanted without going overboard with too many units and rules to follow. Global40 seems almost as if there is too much complications(rules). I don’t particularly love the “if a fighter is matched up with a tank…blah blah blah”. Look I know I can easily learn the rules but every time a new “global” game comes out a little more is added to the game. The last thing I want is for it to turn into one of those Avalon hill games with a paper map and paper counters with tons of charts and sh*t. Those games sucked.

      So could someone just give me a summary of the differences between AA50 and G40? Convoy zones etc…
      Or should I just say F it and just spend the $120?

      I have been trying to write the rule changes from AA50 on a single page for my friends.  I think it can be done.  I am sure someone is working on it.  There are a lot of one line answers to most questions.

      I created a one pager for my playgroup. Currently pending review at BGG…

      Alright, since BGG isnt that fast: I have attached my one pager (which are actully 3) with all the most important rules and unit characteristics to this post

    • RE: Does anyone know (AAA)

      Check http://triplea.sourceforge.net

      A P40 module is available, but it lacks certain mechanics that require  a complete overhaul of the AAA engine.
      So we wont be seeing a complete P/E/G40 anytime soon, unless you know java coding and can help.

      @GrizzlyMan:

      Yeah, you can move land units into the territory on your non-combat phase.

      …as long as those land units didnt move in the combat movement phase.

    • RE: An Axis Naval Strategy

      Wow, I’m a bit surprised that this thread has got over 150 views but no responses.

      Well, for me personally (and I hope I dont come over like a jackass, because I dont intend to) your …very… long post contains too much but’s and if’s, and is to generalised to even comment on. You mainly describe basic mechanics, and no cold hard strategy. Too many questions unanswered etc, for me to retort on.

      Yes, it sounds good, but to me, this pretty much seems like my basis approach of the game when I will play it for the first time. Gain economic advantage by controlling the Atlantic and keeping UK and USA busy fiddling on the ocean, while ignoring Russia at first and prepping for an all out attack on Russia in the end.

      Good strategy, in my opinion  :-D

      I got all German units.

      But the Russians are nowhere to be seen ….

      @Almano:

      Will there be a lack of subs for Germany? 5 in setup and only 6 in total

      Jeez… That sounds like a Jap Tac Bmb fiasco all over again. I can imagine Germany pumping out sub’s like hell, and spreading them thin to disrupt convoys. 6 aint gonna cut it.

      Ow well, there goes another piece of equipment from my Revised set.

    • RE: Naval Base from 1 land territory good for two sea zones?

      As far as I am correct: Yes, you are correct. 1 NB can service multiple SZ’s, when all of those SZ’s are adjacent to the territory containing a NB.

    • RE: My review copy of Axis & Allies Europe 1940 has arrived

      @Shakespeare:

      I wonder: jensen did not say that the Soviets place the 2 units into Novosibirsk for free

      when I read that I initially thought he meant that if the Soviets do indeed build/deploy units in a turn they must deploy at least 2 inf into Novosibirsk; in other words, if the Soviets build or deploy units thay have to buy units as usual, but at least 2 inf must go into Novosibirsk

      I just thought it was clever way to not allow the Soviets to stack the borders in anticipation of the German attack they historically were indeed unprepared for.

      So are those 2 inf units free or do they cost the Soviets but are still a mandatory placement?

      I would like to see this confirmed aswell. Anybody any clue?

      TripleA has a P40 map aswell. Not finished yet, and it requires some editing, but good enough to play th game.

      Cool, just sent a reminder message to Belgian customer services, stating how I read here that the Americans are getting their battleboards and bombers, and I got a reply that they will be shipped to Europe next week aswell.

      When we drag interceptors into this topic, we might just aswell bring the escorts aswell.

      Bombers can be escorted by figters, which can protect you from the intercepting fighters

    • RE: Combined Allied Move

      IIRC there was an optional rule in…Revised?..that would allow a combined Allied attack, one time only in the game.

      but I don’t think it could work very well in P40. It would make it too hard for the Japanese to have all of a sudden all non-orange units on the board attack at the same time. I couldn’t think of any way to give Japan a similar, balancing benefit.
