      Thought that was a good ploy too. Although needed me to hold TJ which was a bit touch and go for a moment.

      You had to attack one of the fleets or TJ, as the odds were always going away from you. I did leave you the TTs to the west of Gib, but you were probably wise to ignore those.

      But once you attacked either fleet or TJ you would have destroyed your aerial threat which kept me at bay, unless you were very lucky indeed. Liked the possibility of a US attack on Rome from both ends of the Med. Shame I never got the chance to do it!

      I made a major mistake when I failed to withdraw from R. I was aware of the oppt for you to redeploy G’s mobile units - almost attacking the Caucasus with the UK to try to destroy some of them. But I decided that abandoning Moscow was better than throwing away the UK’s ME forces. But I stupidly missed it when you did send them north until after I had done R and it was too late.

      That almost gave you a chance. :-P

      I like the part of the story which quotes a certain Gary Campbell as saying that it was “entirely feasible” that a large sea creature disabled the submarine.  Given that Mr. Campbell is said by the story to be “the keeper of the Official Sightings Register of the Loch Ness Monster,” it’s unlikely that he’d dismiss accounts about marine monsters as being nonsensical tall tales from sailors who’d consumed one glass too many at the local tavern.

      This story brings out my charitable side. I would like to assume the burden of storing these pieces free of charge to all parties involved. I would be willing to provide safe storage of these pieces indefinitely. If need be I would even cover the financial cost, of having the proper documentation drawn up, to tranfer ownership to me. In his advanced years the owner shouldn’t have to deal with the strain of fighting the government. My charitable act would also save the German tax payers money.

      Ha Ha! No I didn’t add it at the start. The Us fleet went south and Japan and HI were throwing blockers at each other. I bought one so a fighter had round trip range like a bomber.

      How about if you capture Sicily the Italian player has to toss a coin. If it’s heads the King arrests Mussolini and Italy becomes neutral.

      If Germany sends units into neutral Italy (or leaves units there on a German turn after Italy becomes neutral) then Italy joins the Allies.

      Maybe give the Axis one full turn to recapture Sicily before Mussolini gets the boot.
