Great news. Will have to watch it twice then. First time I will watch the subtitles, the second I will watch the action!
Or maybe the other way round.

      @Jermofoot:

Yeah, V for Vendetta skewed the reality of Guy Fawkes.  He wasn’t fighting an oppressive government.  He was overthrowing one government for another - an even worse one.

      What a Catholic Hero.

Maybe if he had suceeded, we wouldn’t be having this conversation Jermofoot. ;)

      Too bad I’d lean protestant…

I would have doubled the committment in Africa.

If you end it there, you end it for Britain after the fall of Egypt.  Opening a third front -with- Arab allies on the communists.

Good one Marc. Did not pick up on that!
Funny. A bit like the tallest and possibly heaviest at 300lbs,  Confederate General, William Peck, surviving the war unscathed and the shortest, John C.C. Sanders, being mortally wounded.
      Nothing is certain in war.

      @wittmann:

Thanks Noll. I guessed it was something like that. Should have realised it had to be Alexandria. Where else would our frogmen have sunk anything?
I forgot it was two Battleships that were sunk.
Do you subscribe to the Italian connection in the Novorossiysk incident?
It is nice to think it could be true.

I seriously don’t know and I can’t tell. I’d like to think so tho’.

A Jagdpanther of course. Beautiful shape. With sloping frontal armour and the L71/88.

They actually scoured the field with metal detectors to find an arrow tip point from that battle. They wanted to be sure what type of arrows the English were using. When they found it they tested a arrow built the same way and saw if it could penetrate the French armour. I won’t say anymore you need to see it what they surmise about the battle will surprise you. Really cool.

Hi Hobbes. Not heard from uou in a while. Hope you have been well.
Thanks for that. With the capture of Moscow( imminentG5) the Axiz score will be 85.
Was very confident of Allied victory, until I set up game where we left it. Not sure now.
Hope yo finish on 11th Nov.

You are right Marc. He certainly was a “baddy”, but not as vile a portrayal as could have been(was the 60s though). Joaquin definitely did him more justice.
I must say, I first watched that because Sofia Loren was in it.

Haile Selassie’s words were to ring true. Four more years the Western Powers allowed Hitler, Mussolini and Japan  to take what parts of the world they wished.
It was only arrogant errors by those same leaders that saw them reversed after some years and millions of deaths.

This is basically entirely to Cromwell_Dude

Cromwell_Dude, I was baptised Anglican but take the Bill Maher approach to religion currently so I am not backing any religion against any religion.

I note that you repeatedly used the spelling Moslem.  It tells me you have rather biased opinion and are looking for facts to support your view, perhaps I am wrong.

Why Do People Say Muslim Now Instead of Moslem?
      http://hnn.us/articles/524.htm

      From this I quote

A Muslim in Arabic means"one who gives himself to God," and is by definition, someone who adheres to Islam. By contrast, a Moslem in Arabic means"one who is evil and unjust" when the word is pronounced, as it is in English, Mozlem with a z.

To me that is rather inflammatory rhetoric and has little if any room for an enlightened discussion forum as this is.  Cromwell you say this"

The Christian Crusades were defensive holy wars by mostly sincere Christians against an enemy of rape, pillage, and murder.

So the rest of the world especially the middle east have it all wrong?  I suspect the reason why crusader is such a dirty word in the middle east is because bad things happened when they showed up.  Lets say for argument sake the Crusaders really were great nice folks.  How do we convince those who think otherwise they are wrong?  By calling them evil, hateful, rapists who love war?

Religion and Politics for good reason are topics to avoid during parties, particularly when there are guns and booze around.

I think we are mature enough here that these topics and be talked about if we all respect the others point of views and beliefs.  Frimmel and  LHoffman impressed me with their ability to agree to disagree.  The only reason I came to this thread is that you raised it from the dead so to speak.

The second Italian Facist regime : la Repubblica Sociale Italiana (RSI) was set up today, with its capital, not in Rome, but Salo, a small town in Lombardy on Lake Garda,  Northern Italy, where the RSI had his Foreign Office.
Mussolini was its head, but it was nothing more than a German puppet, dependent on its military and financial support.
Mussolini had been rescued from captivity in a daring raid by a soon to be famous German SS Colonel, Otto Skorzeny on September 12th.
Italy had  surrendered on the 8th and the Allies had  landed at Salerno on the 9th and were fighting the Germans in the south of Italy at this time, though they had not yet captured the city port of Naples.
