You cannot park on Pearl, as explained, but Midway is legal. I have taken just a carrier to Midway on J1 while pushing hard in to China and waited to see US1. It is possible to destroy the whole of their fleet and take Pearl on J2. This is not ideal, as Japan loses hers too, but I play someone whose US2 is to park off Aus , so i have to DOW on 2 knowing i could lose Carolines. Very annoying!

Start on 35. 52 includes Pacific map, for global. Then Add 20 when at war .

Cannot find where I read about the 37 income, but it was official. Makes sense too as Russia has that income globally and has no Pacific factories, so revenue has to go to European map.

US starts on 35 and France on 17, not 19. Rest as you say, except I have not seen US awarded 20 bonus when at war. If you have read it play it and please show me the link. I play US 15 bonus for holding all territories after DOW, then 5 when occupying Paris as per global alpha 3.9. Have fun stopping Italy take over Africa!

No. The men load on the US go, could move on the British go, but unload on the following US go.

RE: How do you play AAP40 with 3.9 alpha rules?posted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I bought Pacific when it came out and played Japan first few times. My opponent usually beats me whichever side, or game , we play. Last time, global actually, he moved US fleet to Aus before my DOW and scared me into playing a less aggressive Japan! I have thought that possibility wrong ever since. He will only play Pacific if we place the 18 Russian Inf. it does not bother me, but would like an official ruling .

Alpha 3.9 is written for Global so there are 18 Russian inf on the Pacific map. I cannot see how we can play Pacific and ignore them. If they are there then Japan is not so free to rampage through China before a DOW. Have not seen 3.9 state US cannot move as you say. I Read cannot end turn adjacent to Japanese controlled territories. Hope you are right. Have you a link? Thanks

Also Forbid US player from going more than one hex West or South of Hawaii. They should not be allowed to skulk by Australia awaiting a Japanese DOW. India also needs one more NO.

Agree US should get 40 bonus when at war and give them the SBR from Central US too. I believe the 18 Russian Inf must be placed on the map to start though.

RE: Reprinting Pacificposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Does anyone play Pacific with the 18 Russian Infantry on the map as
per Alpha 3.9? I did once knowing it would weaken Japan’s early Chinese attacks as I left Korea and Manchuria garrisoned. We then removed them on Turn 4 and released my(enforced )Japanese garrison and I did not invade the empty Russian territories. Obviously made my task harder (I lost), but both players agreed and we thought it true to history and realism. -
RE: Alpha 3 - Europe only - New 1940 players.posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
Meant One map only for a shorter game.was talking Europe, but have a few problems with Pacific concerning set up, especially
Vis a Vis missing Russian Inf. In pacific only Japan should not be allowed to empty Manchuria and Korea as Russia borders them. Played a friend who sailed his Us fleet to Australia on T2 , before my T3 DOW. Was legitimate, but I feel it should not be. I now accept T2 DOW is seen as all as best. Would like to see a clarification of stand alone NOs and starting set ups. Sorry if I sound unclear. -
RE: Alpha 3 - Europe only - New 1940 players.posted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I think use only Alpha 3.9 Europe NOs, as we should presume US needs extra IPs to compete against Japan. I know this makes for a poorer US, but think it historically correct and just. I would rather have seen Central US on Pacific map, so giving US lower non war income, then raising it 10 after DOW. Incidentally, what do you think about Russia/Japan? Should the 18 Inf be on the Pacific map, to force a Japanese garrison of Manchuria and Korea until Turn 3 or 4? Allow air to fight China, but then return in non combat. Turn 3 or 4 remove Russian units and lift ban on Japanese movement. I also believe US fleet should not be allowed to hide by Australia until a DOW, as Japan cannot go West otherwise for fear of losing the Carolines.

RE: AAP40 FAQposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
how do people deal with russia in Pacific only with A3.9? I would like to see the 18 inf on the board and force Japan to garrison both Korea and Manchuria for 2 turns, then remove Russians and release Japanese forces. Perhaps Air units could fight and return in non combat.

RE: Factoriesposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I too had thougth of halving their money when not at war, so like your idea of giving it all if it is saved until attacked. Still think capital ships should only be built where a sea base exists and no major factory be built where a minor one does not start(Norway and Romania}.

RE: Idea for a 3+ Balancing Factorposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I strongly believe the US should not collect income until attacked and am happy with their set up in a3. Once attacked, or T3, they should get a massive bonus, either a one off, or perhaps simply doubling the A3 revisions would suffice.

RE: Factoriesposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Thank you both. Do either of you think the US, and possibly Russia, should have IPCs and movements frozen until attacked? This would better reflect axis surprise attacks.

RE: Factoriesposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
thank you. I have not heard of this alpha.Where do i find it? I also thought to reflect US’ unpreparedness for war(and unwillingness for one) that perhaps a freeze on their IPC collection, until attacked, was appropriate. To a lesser extent russia too.I also wonder if they should be able to move and, therefore, prepare at all. This, i believe, keeps both attacks a surprise and gives both axis a reason not to attack. To compensate, a one off bonus could be given once attacked

Factoriesposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I love A&A and Global 1940 is my favourite. Unfortunately, i have a problem with the factory rule. I believe buying a major factory and placing on a 3 anywhere makes no sense and ruins the game. The US could land in Korea and 1 turn later 10 tanks or ships could appear. Game over. I find it ridiculous that an industrial complex to rival the East or West US, the Ruhr or the UK could spring up in 1 turn(6 months), when these regions have needed 100 years to build up. The older A&A rules on IPC unit building worked. Perhaps capital ship building could also be restricted to factories with naval bases too.
