I would do it if Germany did a G1 Barbarossa. Otherwise on Turn1 UK is always half way there in my experience.

RE: Why does the UK fall every game???posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I hate Sealion. Failed again. And this one was a gift. Worst dice rolling in a while. Pity as I wanted to see how UK skipping purchases would affect things. (Was looking forward to converting those £s into petrol guzzling Mk111 and MkIVs for Barbarossa too.) Damn the Home Guard.

RE: Allied bomber bidsposted in 1941 Scenario
Thank you. Does not come up as I play with friends. Anniversary is usually won by Axis though.

I would like to know all the details. Have friends who would play a quick game. Know we will have to wait for it in England, so any news is welcome.

My Uk opponent has been too cheeky in our current game, so I am definitely going Sealion. My East front looks bare, but he is asking for it. This is after I said I was never doing one again! We are playing AA count as cAsualties too. Will be a G3.

I think most Axis took Cairo. Was too easy OOB. What did for me as the Axis was my opponent discovering taking Korea and building a Major there killed Japan. The factory build was my real OOB gripe. Now sorted of course.

I do not know what the bid system is. Keep reading about it. Is it because no one wants to be the Allies. How does it work?

RE: Is this the worse game?posted in Axis & Allies Guadalcanal
We have not played more than 3 games. Cannot really get our heads around the different rules. When will we get a Kursk or Stalingrad? My wife loves BOTB too!

I did not know we were allowed to be silly! Now I know…

RE: UKEastposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I think you have to buy only Inf and 1 or 2 mech on turns 1 and maybe 2. Spend all your money, so if Japan comes after you( and it should be obvious if he is) you do not gift him extra cash. Do not bother with Naval unless you can be sure it will delay him a turn with an easy block. If Anzac, only buy Inf too. You have to be patient, like Russia, and hope the Cavalry turn up. India will fall if he goes all out for it, you have to accept that.
-
RE: UKEastposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Is that safe? Will Japan not steal it and India will be weaker as you did not place 10 Inf on 1 and 2 and therefore fall more easily? Once India falls if you still have your factory in Kwantung you will not be able to build in it.

RE: ITALY IS SCREWED!posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I find that, but realistically Italy doing well(30 +IPCs) is a bit silly. Should not have 3 NOs to UK’s 1 either. Whenever we fought we were soundly defeated. Did not have the German or Japanese will to fight, especially against the US.

Nice. I was born in Florence, Italy, so that sounds good. Unfortunately my main opponent might have been Lee in a former life, to my Burnside, so I do not get the luxury of Italian help for long in any game I play. I do believe the Med and a throttled italy is the key to a successful Allied victory.

RE: The Japan Playbookposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Never thought of that. If Japan take and hold India, then load Japan with Inf and some Fighters so as not to lose the little revenue they will have after the loss of 11 IPC from SZ6, they then turn West when necessary to help clear Egypt. Axis win with the fall of Moscow. Unfortunately, can only dream of when I will get to play Global again and try out Plan Supersecret! Is hard enough finding time and opportunity to play one half of the map.

RE: Balance Europeposted in Axis & Allies Europe 1940
I used to do well with Italy before Alpha. Now it is hard to get any momentum going. Was Italy not messed up by UK on T1 and did the US not try to take Rome after retaking Gib and morocco? Italy is the weak link.

You evil man! Must have been fun and annoying as hell for the other side. Did you win?I agree about Java.

RE: G1 Attack on Russia?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Nice idea. My fear is Norway is a good landing spot for US and it would annoy me to gift an air base to them. I know this cannot happen until at least T5 (If Japan do not DOW 1 or 2 of course.) Also, can you be sure you will have 3 spare Fighters? Protecting the fleet definitely a must on G1 though. That is why I used to buy an AC, but now West German AB and scrambling rules make me feel safe enough. Surely buying only 1 transport sends a message to UK that Sealion is off and they can spend their 28 in Africa too, spelling the end to Italy? I think we have to bluff a Sealion(3 transports) even if we intend a Barbarossa.

RE: Mongoliaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
I was confused by things. Am clear now. Thanks. Despite Cow’s confidence and my love of the Axis, am still a very nervous Japanese player though. Just seems like there are so many things to do and so many cracks for my many Allied enemies to squeeze through. Is lucky I am not a poor loser!

RE: G1 Attack on Russia?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Does no one buy a destroyer on G1( with 3 transports?)That way Allies do not know which country you are going to attack on G2 or 3. And surely you would want to kill the Russian sub in the Baltic. I used to buy an AC on G1, but now you need to kill 5 AA in UK too, Sealion must be dead in the water. Russia on G2 must be only option left,if you have not attacked Russia on G1. As for scrambling do any Allied players not do? I would if I was them.

RE: The Japan Playbookposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
You suggest throwing everything at India, so there is one fewer enemy to worry about? Will try next time, but my Allied opponent always finds a way to demoralise me, then my original plan flies out the window!
