Does G1 Sub hit the carrier or the defenceless US transport? I too like your opening move.

RE: Just finished 2 gamesposted in Axis & Allies 1941
Hi Gosanchez6: is 3 for Inf. Details on Preview Set Up. We all thought it would be cheaper units too, but meant to be a quick game. Thing is might be too quick. Looks like they expect Russia to fall quickly, thus facilitating Axis victory.

Did we find out if Axis won the 2nd game too? Might be we get Alpha revisions before it comes out! Am not happy about that lone US transport. Should be a Destroyer with it.

RE: Manchuriaposted in Axis & Allies Pacific 1940
Did not find out how my garrison of 6 worked by the way, as we decided to play Global knowing we would not finish. The Manchuria problem loomed too large. Will probably wait until 2nd Edition clarifies it for us. It has to!

You are right: economic parity is the key. Will say it( and mean it!)am not doing Sealion again. Will do Russia on 2, but that means not buying a Carrier. Has to be 3 transports and a Destroyer and then UK will call my bluff again and I am left thinking is Sealion worth a shot.
Catch 22 come to mind! -

I think it looks like the kind of game we can all play around with and if I do not see it for sale in England soon I am bally going to burst like a balloon!

Thanks, but I rarely replace lost Air units and do not buy Bombers. Japan always has its hands full as it is without spending to help Germany. My friends and I have never been keen on SBR. We are ground sloggers at heart!

Garg: There I was thinking you were a nice guy! One rabbit. And it still hurts to remember it.

Midway. The carriers were irreplaceable.

The Axis do look too strong. I presume Germany go first.

RE: Have you ever been Arrested?posted in General Discussion
Nearly. Was at some lights in Florence and was unsure which way to go, when someone behind swore and called me names. They saw foreign plates and did not know I would understand. Being a fiery Italian I replied in kind shouting back( in Italian): "f… you son of a … " and some more about his mother. 10 seconds later 4 Poliziotti got out of a Fiat Uno(tiny car)and came to mine and asked me to get out. The driver had been a young cocky cop. Next thing their dreams come true as they spread me over my own car and talk big about what they are going to do to me.We are in the middle of the city. Did not last long before they got bored. One squeezed my cheek and slapped it as they left. I think the thought of all the paperwork(English registered car) was too much for them.

As Axis always find I use my money for units and then the Allies always have that edge, because US and Russia can spare the cash on Turn 1. Is very annoying!

RE: Worst Axis Mistakeposted in World War II History
I put strikes on Pearl, because I wonder how much a few
more months repairs and set backs would have helped Japan’ s conquests and then consolidation of them. Otherwise my choice would be: Hitler’s unnecessary declaration of war against US. -
RE: Italian - Navy - and Elite in the same sentence? No Way!posted in World War II History
Thank you Garg. We were great pioneers in this and is not that well documented. Probably because it had to be kept secret and most of them died. Reading the Italian comments most Italians would rather forget about it now!

RE: Kursk…posted in World War II History
I think if they had won they would have met with another Stalingrad like disaster later in the year. By 1943 Germany’s best East Front strategy was Manstein’s: elastic defence. Hitler would not hear of any retreats, but was the best way to keep ground in the long run. Not attacking in July, but counterattacking an over stretched Russian army later, was better. Everyone knew the Allies were landing in the West soon and much needed mobile units would have to leave the Eastern Front.

RE: ITALY IS SCREWED!posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I have not succeeded with Sealion and had Italy neutered in my last few games, so am open to different ideas. I am an old stick in the mud and G1, whatever game, sink UK fleet. It hurts to contemplate another opener, but thought some had suggested not attacking Channel fleet. I believe the Med is the key to European victory and for all my good intentions have not saved Italy since OOB.Equally, If I gave France to Italy to finish, might not need to attack SZs 91 or 93 with Germany, as Italy could buy 3 ships to replace losses. Still planning.

RE: .posted in Axis & Allies Spring 1942 Edition
Only ever play 1 against 1 now. 1st played as a group when at University. Miss that, but I work evenings and so can only dream of a return to that. Am hoping to have some 1941 group games though.
