RE: Battleplansposted in Axis & Allies 1941
Agreed. If UK lose both CV and DD the US TT cannot drop in Africa (which is not worth anything anyway). Think Axis have to take Gib on G1.

RE: AAG40 FAQposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Hi Crobattalion. 1. Your defending Sub is safe from his planes and gets to shoot 1st with a “1”. If you hit, it will be his CV, but it requires 2 hits to sink a CV, so he could retreat after his Air have shot at your BB. His Air could not land on a damaged CV , however, so if they cannot reach an empty CV or land they will be eliminated in NCM. Your Sub cannot be sunk in this scenario.
2. Only his CV will defend, on a “2”.
The lesson of the story is do not take a CV in to a battle unless it is to absorb 2 hits and do not leave one without a DD, if the enemy has Subs in range. -
RE: ITALY IS SCREWED!posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Thanks for the answer Spendo. Saw from your 1st message that you only had 1TT and had a CV and DD and Sub, that is why I asked whether you did not Sealion. Thought most of us G1 bought 2TT; that was my query.

US transport. Then UK has to decide whether to sink it with Canadian DD or protect his transport.

Yea, never let my friends be Germany and I get my first win in ages.

I take Southern France, but never build there although I mean to. Spendo do you not buy transports to even have an option of a Sealion then? Interesting. You also an budget for 2 Subs, because you do not buy transports I suppose. When do you hit Russia?

No. Next turn. And a major is downgraded to a minor and only the original owner can pay to make it a major again.

RE: Help with UK1posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Do what France did: surrender.
Seriously, buy Inf for UK, a factory for Cairo if you feel brave and hit Italy hard as suggested by others. Cannot sit back and let Italy take the Med.
If Sealion works remember Russia will join the Allies and come next, so they want to be on Germany’s borders to push through any weak spots.
We are all rooting for you: nasty Germans! -
RE: Which side does Global favor?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Hi. What is a nerf? I have always gone 100% Barbarossa in earlier, older games and neutralised UK on 1 to buy time. 1940 blinded me and took my eye of the real goal. I play someone who plays UK so on the edge that he always makes me think I can Sealion. Did make him sweat in our last one. Lucky git!

If you could be any Civil war general who would you be?posted in General Discussion
Was thinking ANV at first, probably John Bell Hood for his aggressive attacks early on and his majestic figure on the field. But he survived.
Have decided to say a more level headed Patrick Ronayne Cleburne lately of His Majesty’s Army and native of County Cork. He was a great Westerner, equally at ease in attack or defence.
He fell at Franklin, Tennessee on Nov 30th 1864. -
RE: Which side does Global favor?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
As I have not seen a successful Sealion and its consequences for Barbarossa, I have to say Allies are favoured now.

RE: Strafing France with Germany and taking with Italyposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Is a risk either way, but UK cannot change all its offensive plans to save France can it? Would be a massive pain for Germany, but I think Germany would be better off for it. And Italy would have 3 transports for Africa. As Italy and before France, I would attack UK Air with my 4 ground and 3 Air. Without those planes UK would be very vulnerable. What would be its 1st turn buy? I want to try it.

RE: Visiting Battlefieldsposted in World War II History
I started reading about US civil war 20 years ago and is my favourite subject. Alas have not crossed the Atlantic yet. (want to tip my hat at Jackson’s grave and will cry imagining proud, insulted Cleburne’s fall at Franklin.
Have seen too many English sites to mention. Have Visited Waterloo, Normandy, Bastogne, Flanders all more than once and have slept at sleepy Sedan. I lived inbetween Sword and Gold beaches when at University. (Chose Caen university purposely.) Have stayed in Carentan, St. Mere Eglise and had a beer at Villers Bocage, toasting the world’s greatest tank ace. I have seen his gravestone and stood by the field where his Tiger was ambushed by 5 Shermans.
My holidays are planned around battlefields. Sicily in October. -

Nice. What are Germany and Japan on IPC wise? And Russia for that matter.

RE: Preview: Game Setupposted in Axis & Allies 1941
I thought Russia must have attacked to lose in 2 turns. And losing in 2 is not on, so some remedy is necessary. Do you think a defenceless transport is wrong too?
