    • RE: Introduce or Re-Introduce Yourself (Nov. 2018)

      I live in England, but wa born in Florence, Italy. I started playing A&A as an 18 year old at university. I only got to play once a week (4 hours) as part of the Boardgames Club and sometimes had to watch, if too many players wanted in. I was so obsessed that I would look forward to that one evening to the detriment of everything else. I would plan how Germany could win amd what I would buy. Russia was my nemesis amd my one goal was its conquest.

      I did buy Classic in my Second Year, I think. Did not play much (except by myself, plannning!).
      I got back into A&A when I heard Europe was coming out . Guess what? Yep, I got to invade Russia all over again.
      Anniversary was a wedding gift and I have bought every game since then.
      I don’t get any face to face games any more, as I have children and no time at the weekends (because of work).

    • RE: Rules Q&A for North Africa

      @emmettdd Good morning. That is, indeed , how it works in any subsequent Rounds of combat, yes.
      Bear in mind, if the enemy has Subs, he could submerge his, if you have no Destroyer present either.

    • RE: What other board games do you play?

      Settlers, 7 Wonders, Scrabble, Carcassonne and Twilight Struggle are our top choices.
      My wife and I always gift ourselves a game or two for Christmas, so there is always something to play. She plays me at A&A once a year now (December , as a birthday consolation ).

      Has always been the 109E for me, probably slightly disappointing my loving RAF grandad!

    • How many players from the 80s and 90s have we here?

      Hi all. I see that we have a new forum member from Denmark, who has been playing since 83.
      I started aged nearly 19 , back in 87.
      Wondered how many other people here have been playing A&A that long.

      @oysteilo good day.
      Yes, the DD can move out of the SZ, avoiding combat.
      If it declares war, Yes, a British TT can load, if it is attacking amphibiously this turn. Otherwise, it must move away to avoid combat, without loading and its turn will be over.

      @Entek Al and I just took out our 7 year old and his cousin , also 7. Our daughter went out with 3 friends . Bloody poured down with rain again!
      Back now, Having a glass of Red and some crisps. We go back to where we used to live (moved 16 months ago). There is more of a community feel to our old neighbourhood.
      I dressed as a Viking again. Love my axes!
      My son was a Knight. My niece was No Face.
      My 13 year old wore a white Galadriel dress , but was an Egyptian goddess.

    • RE: Rules Verification

      @Gen-Nehring-0 good day. You can, indeed, leave the Hostile SZ and move to another hostile SZ for combat. See top of page 13 Pacific rulebook: sea units starting in Hostile Sea Zones. It is the second point: “leave the sea zone … and conduct combat elsewhere.”

    • RE: Hi everyone! New player from Southern UK!

      @barnee thanks .
      @Gnark1ll good to hear from you. Glad you joined the forum. As Barnee says , we do have a 3 monthly Sunday gam in Derbyshire (too far for you , I expect ). I live in Hereford and it is a 2 hour drive for me . I live the furthest away of all the guys that attend.
      It is worth contacting Adam (Private Panic). You will find him posting in his Battle of Britain thread. Glad you have a group with whom to play. It is a shame that they won’t play your games though.
      Adam probably has a few names of Southern players .
      Good luck and hope we meet one day.
      Leo.

      @tank-nut good day.
      Another English based player.
      Good to hear from you.
      Private Panic hosts a game quarterly in rural Derbyshire. He is on holiday at the moment , but I am sure he will contact you about the current English based players .
      I am in far away Hereford . Been playing since 87.
      Hope to talk and meet you one day.
