@marshmallowofwar but if there are fighters just sitting in Norway, they’re useless elsewhere.

The problem the bombers would be solving is the fighters sitting in Norway just picking up dust. The bombers could be in Moscow, Gibraltar, the UK, Norway, bombing any German production point and contributing to those 1 inf and 5 planes vs 1 inf battles.

The question is in my opinion: is the versatility that the bombers offer worth the cost of having fewer fighters to sit on complexes to intercept, protect carriers and sit on airbases, and secure US landings.

my logic was, if i could get a hit and lower your odds on stalingrad, or moscow the next turn, it would be worth the shot. japan isnt as far ahead as germany so it was worth the shot to me

I am really struggling with 5, for both teams.

I usually use the Aussies to trade islands with the Japaneses, while building mostly navy with the Americans. I’ve seen an Australian navy used very effectively in a couple of cases, anyone have better success with one versus the other? Which is better?

@ShadowHAwk Those units are essential to defend your capital, as well as France’s capital. There is no way around having a substantial defensive force if you want to win the game as the axis. Ideally all of those units could attack Moscow, but that is literally not an option. Germany can lose its capital turn 4 if you don’t have enough units to defend, and Paris can be lost to the allies turn 5 if you aren’t deploying enough units to prevent that.

@oysteilo After youve built as many carriers as you can fill with the starting planes, I think it might be best to play defensively with the navy, and focus 100% on land.

The US will overcome the Japanese at some point, so that will result in the loss of the DEI, and convoy raiding of your coastal territories. If you’ve got all of China under control, that’s 12 IPCs that cant be taken away, and if you grab the russian territories, that another 5-7 IPCs that are guaranteed. If you combine that with the occasional lucky convoy rolls, youve got like 30 IPCs per round to work on breaking India, or infantry on japan. Or just solidifying controll over the stuff you have making it harder and harder for the allies to make progress

Thanks for the game! That one was crazy. I did the math after this last turn and was starting to feel OK but it was close for quite awhile - if you had managed to get Moscow then the Axis would get Volgograd for sure and that would have been the game.

Yeah, the pacific I was just floundering after I pulled my ships off Hawaii first turn…that set the tone for the entire game. Was just trying to achieve parity after that, and it never happened.

I didn’t want to try the neutral crush, but I didn’t have enough to land in Normandy, and I needed to try and get a second front going, but it was too late by the time I did it, I know.
