Both Axis and Allies get a bid?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
Has anybody tried giving both the axis and the allies a bid? The allied one would be significantly larger (like 40IPCs to the allies and 10IPCs to the axis).
The way I think this would work is it would be blind, both sides would place their bids independently. I could see this being lopsided to the axis due to their ability to make key battles on the first round go just slightly more in their favor giving them more flexibility. (an extra german sub, or an infantry in western germany and holland-belgium, or the italians add a sub to sz97). But i think by making the allies bid large enough to compensate this could lead to some wacky scenarios.

@sneakykarl ANZAC carriers can provide a great reinforcement for the US fleet if they aren’t spending 100% pacific

“Their fundamental flaws are
lack of consolidated forces. Have to group units to defend and can’t make frontal attacks.
Cracks between forces that allow Axis to exploit and grow rapidly.
Isolation. This is the real killer.”should’ve really listened to this (middle east)

Besides the Russians, I most look forward to playing the Chinese. They’re quite powerful.
Your fleet placement isn’t not scarry

@trulpen yeah, but I’m not going to admit it. In fact from sniffing your carriers with my fighters, I’ve concluded that your fleet smells bad.

Letting Allies Land in Normandyposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
All things considered, Normandy is probably the worst place to open up the western front. You cant take France, it doesn’t hurt the axis economy very much, and it is near both Italian and German major complexes.
I’d rather have a strong allied landing in Normandy, than Norway, Southern France, Greece, or Italy. If the allies are going to land, why not open the doors to the worst spot? Just invite them in and keep them there. Does this have any merit?

RE: Gameboard Questionposted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
You can buy a vinyl printout of the board from office max or staples, no idea how it works but I know its been done. Check out the axis and allies Facebook group and ask a question there, someone will definitely get back to you.

RE: Common bid elements?posted in Axis & Allies Global 1940
I don’t think you can go wrong with a Russian battleship in the black sea.
I’ve seen a couple of times not mentioned above:
South African Transport 71
ANZAC complex in Queensland
Anzac sub in 54/62
Anzac transport in 54
Malta Fighter
Soviet Mech/Tank in Volgograd for a Yunnan StackSomething I am interested in is the effectiveness of putting 2 submarines (one French and one British) in 110. Seems like its a fun way to deter/make difficult both the 110 and 111 hits, or at least draw out the German battle ship. If the subs have to dive, they can just be used to convoy raid the Italians and Normandy right off the bat.
