      @GrizzlyMan:

      Germany can’t do a G1 sealion. By the time they’d be in position, Russia could have the fighter in London.

      Germany can do a G2 sealion at which point Russia still can’t do anything. Believe me if the Amercian player could build planes and send them to the UK they would but they can’t either. Its one of the things that makes sealion possible.

      @Tavenier:

      An hour ago I finished a game of Europe. My Soviet ally (I was UK and France) bought a sub every turn of peace. When war broke out the 4 subs spread out and caused a lot of German headaches. Norway’s convoy was blocked, another sub went to the French Atlantic coast to rair convoys, another one bolstered the British fleet (the Germans also had a sizeble fleet), and one was underway to the med sea.

      Eventually the allies won, starting with a succesful invasion of Norway (Germany losing 13 points, because of 2 NO’s) and a major victory of US troops against the Italian African Army.

      Because of the Soviet subs the Brits could turn all efforts towards an invasion fleet and a couple of units in South Africa (Italy captured Egypt and build an IC there).

      Damn Norway is really important.

      @Krieghund:

      There is no rolling versus defenseless transports.  By definition, transports that can retreat are not defenseless, so combat would be conducted normally.

      Perfect. Thanks!

      no.

      aa50 costs more now because it had a small limited print run. aa40 games are not limited and larry harris believes they will have multiple print runs.

      @Krieghund:

      @moralecheck:

      The UK not only can’t land it’s units, but it has to endure one round of defensive fire from the scrambled unit(s) before it can retreat.  Any units on those transports are lost.

      Not so.  Since it’s not the transport’s turn, it is not in the battle and can’t move.  The scrambled fighter simply prevents the amphibious landing without inflicting any casualties.

      @moralecheck:

      KH explained: A fighter can scramble to join a battle or against an amphibious assault.  It cannot scramble against ships that are just putting around its waters though.  This raises a new question, so I hope Krieghund is reading:  If I send transports (only), or even a fleet with warships to assault an island with scramblable (I made up a word!!) units, can I send a fighter into the waters with it, even though that is not really a combat move (but it will be if my opponent scrambles)?

      Yes.  Just the chance of combat is enough to justify the move.

      UK units on a US transport. Missed that.  My bad.

      Good to know, and if I remember correctly Global rules supersede all the others. Just as a rule of thumb.

      About 6 years. I got my brother classic when I was around 12 (until then we did the computer version). When Revised came out I was captivated. I’ve played a lot of AARe (I even played it back when it was 2.0 and I think earlier.) I got AA50 and played it a few times but recently sold it. I recently got AA42 (about the same time as I sold AA50). I have only played a couple AA42 games mainly because I couldn’t get my brother to play very often and I was busy.

      @13thguardsriflediv:

      @moralecheck:

      @Cromwell_Dude:

      The principle of it-I’m shelling out almost $100 for Pacific, not buying a $10 Monopoly game…will WOTC be producing a 2nd printing of Pacific without errors and missing pieces?

      When and if the current run sells out, maybe.  They aren’t just gonna throw out thousands of copies over an error that the majority of gamers (light players) simply won’t even care about.  A pdf rules update and a week or 2 wait for 6 bombers is not really a major issue.

      IF they reprint it, they ought to do the following":

      -include ‘Europe 1940’ quality cardboard (thicker) + IPC tracker
      -at least double JAP tac bmb and mech inf
      -correct Palau spelling and sz 5
      -correct version of rule book

      Right now, just a PDF of the correct rule book (including errata) would satisfy me, and I’ve already got my extra tac bmb’s. Just need a half a dozen more mech infs for JAP.

      And the setup changes almost finished by Larry

      @Wilson2:

      I will if it doesn’t sell soon. However, ebay charges 9% to BGGs 3%. Also ebay has a $1 fee for placing an item up for bid. Additionally, there are four to five AA50s for sale on ebay right now. I hope to wait till those auctions end so most people are bidding on mine.

      Just make it buy it now.

      White has an advantage in chess, too.  Doesn’t make it a crappy game.

      However, a chess board where squares connected to squares they weren’t supposed to?  And only comes with thirteen pawns?  That’s kinda crappy.

      No.  You can assume that you will roll all hits and the defender will roll all misses, but even in that situation a transport cannot defeat a warship.  The assumption must be that it’s at least possible to clear the sea zone, however unlikely.

      Hm - so it is possible for China to rake in 5 infantry per turn after all.  Interesting.

      Oh, and Wilson2, you didn’t give credit to Japan as being a possible controller of the UK.  With long range heavy bombing paratroopers, anything’s possible.

      i made 2 mods for TripleA’s aa50,

      China takes their turn with Russia (plus a number of other balancing changes and some units moved around)

      UK starts with a factory as a bid, meaning they place a factory somewhere on the board before the game begins (plus a number of other other balancing changes, and some units moved around)

      both games have tech activation happen at the END of a turn, not right after you roll.  so for example, if i rolled for tech and got heavy bombers, then i would not get it right away, but instead would get it during the place-units phase at the end of the turn.

      both games also have the options to use LHTR heavy bombers (roll 2 dice, pick best, if sbr add 1), and to turn tech off completely
      and to use LOW LUCK dice, yay

      A

      True.  A typical division in most armies will have its own artillery regiment/brigade.  A corps might have an extra brigade or two of corps level artillery in adddition to the artillery units assigned to its infantry/tank divisions.  Soviet Shock armies were basically leg infantry with a buttload of artillery (a buttload being an echelon or two above brigade) attached.  But, at the scale of Axis and Allies (with each playing piece representing an army - the echelon between corps and army group), independent artillery units would rarely be large enough to be represented by their own playing pieces.  But they are.
