    • RE: Is Greenland an island?

      @almashir:

      Personally, I don’t see a logical reason why fighters can only scramble from an island.  I figure the rule is probably the result of playtesting, and that allowing fighters to scramble from, say, Norway, would somehow unbalance the game.  But it seems like it would benefit both sides equally overall, considering the size of the map and the number of territories on it.

      Perhaps it was made that way for the sole purpose of increasing the value of islands with no IPC value.

    • RE: Carriers attacking transports to retreat, can they?

      @Krieghund:

      @Wilson2:

      Can two carriers attack a transport and then retreat after one round of not combat to get one of them to move 3 (or 4 with NB)?

      This one is tricky.  Based on the rules as written, my initial response is no.  However, I’m conferring with Larry on the subject to get a final answer.

      Haha. I stumped the AA Q&A master, and I don’t even have AAP40 yet.  :-D
      @Krieghund:

      @Wilson2:

      Can you choose to roll dice with your ships against transports instead of removing them instantly to do the same thing with ships with attack values?

      No.

      Too bad
      @Krieghund:

      @Wilson2:

      How do you research galactic-canine-paw-smash technology?

      I could tell you, but then I’d have to kill you.

      I don’t need your second rate knowledge; I can get the perfected technique once I get my dog a patented UP collar, MWAHAHAHAHA!!!

    • RE: Carriers attacking transports to retreat, can they?

      @Zenosco:

      I was thinking since there is no real attack there can be no retreat in this instance.  Especially since it was my understanding that a transport can move thru an enemy sea zone containing enemy ships.  Plus it was my understanding that enemy transports could occupy the same sea zone?  If true wouldnt that also be the same for carriers since attack values for both are 0?

      But on the other hand if the transport were to not move on its turn the carrier would kill it.

    • RE: Larry's suggested setup changes

      Wouldn’t it be great if everyone had all the kinks worked out before I even bought the game.  :-D

      I would say do all that and give China an AA gun and call it quits

    • Should I buy two copies?

      Should I get two copies of this game?
      I am not the kind of person to buy multiple copies just for more pieces. I am talking more along the lines of resale. Has anyone who bought multiple copies of previous A&A games been able to sell theirs for good amounts of money? I know Revised is like $100 on Amazon, but do people actually buy it? Since this is an already expensive game, does it have the potential to soar like AA50 did?
      Thoughts anyone?

      Just buy a mech and save the rest.

      I like the LRA change. Improved Mech inf was what I thought it was. Are war bonds and better artillery still weak?

    • RE: Mongolia exception?

      @The:

      @Wilson2:

      I believe that the P40 rules say that invading one Mongolia province does not affect the others. This seems to go against the true neutrals rules. What is the ruling on this?

      good point. But if I were an official judge with the limited info that i have, i would have to say that they would all still become pro-the other side. Reasoning being:…

      "Rules Precedence

      The global rules are mostly based on the rules from Axis & Allies Europe with a few extra changes just for the global game plus the unique aspectsof Pacific 1940. When following the rules, do it in this order:

      Global Rules section in the Axis & Allies Europe 1940 game
      Axis & Allies Europe 1940 rules - basic mechanics of the game
      Axis & Allies Pacific 1940 rules - for rules that are very specific to that game, like Kamikaze"

      This is what I thought was the case.

    • RE: Why no dutch as own power if liberated?

      IMO by putting the France capital next to West Germany major IC, they made France worthless the whole game.

    • RE: Sea Lion global game

      Even if Germany Throws away roughly 120 IPCs on UK for a G3 capture I would still say it would be worth it. The Axis immediately get a net gain of ~60 IPCs from plunder. Add in the ~60 IPC of UK planes/lad units lost and you are probably even. Even if the US (or maybe even USSR  :lol:) Takes it back in 1-2 turns. Plus since the IC downgrades, UK loses ~20 IPCs more. This also stops it from breaking the game the other way since it will be hard for Germany to fortify it very strong with just a minor IC.

      Probably something like that.

      @panzerjager:

      @cminke:

      What exactly are the political situation between russia and japan. Who can declare war and when?

      Each can declare war with the other at any time.

      krieg does this mean the ussr can attack japan before turn 4?

      1.  USSR and Japan start off not at war.

      2.  They may declare war on each other on any round they choose.

      3. Their war doesn’t affect anyone’s else neutrality.

      So basically they start at war.

    • RE: Allied control of French Siam?

      I believe that France’s capital is considered to be in enemy hands, which it will almost always be in the Global game  :lol:. So I think US gets the territory and IC.

      @Flashman:

      Yeah, but the parts of America the Hispanics conquered were more developed than they were.

      Tenochtitlan made Madrid look like a small cluster of hovels.

      Even the cruelty of the Spaniards and the Inquisition pales in comparison to the Aztecs. They had mountains of skulls from human sacrifices that were meant to keep the sun coming up every day. They would attack other tribes just for prisoners to sacrifice. And seriously, pulling someone’s heart out while they are still alive is just sick.

      What would be an interesting game would be if Japan took US but ignored the other nations. Then Japan fighting UK, ANZAC, and China.
