      @calvinhobbesliker:

      @Wilson2:

      I just looked at the rules and they say the zone has to be cleared of units. So I answered my own question.

      Cleared of units for what?

      To continue with the amphibious assault.

    • RE: AAP40 FAQ

      @Krieghund:

      Calvinhobbesliker is correct.  China can control these territories if it captures them while India is under Axis control, but they are not “Chinese territories”.

      I disagree. In the rulebook it specifically says that China CANNOT control Kwangtung. Not that China can’t get it most of the time. It says CANNOT. (capitalization added for emphasis)  :-P

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      @Wilson2:

      You know what is more lame (and confirmed by krieghund)? Say UK units are in a US transport in Japan SZ. If the UK units try to unload into korea, the Japanese fighter can scramble. Since there is no UK ships, there is no combat (remember that since it is not US or Japan’s turn, Japan cannot attack the transport). However, since only the Japanese fighter remains, UK “lost” the battle and can’t land its units.

      I don’t think unloading from a transport is a sea battle

      I agree. However, krieghund said that in this case, the fighter can scramble and prevent the transport from unloading by creating a sea battle where no one gets shot at.

    • RE: Spring 42 or Revised

      @Yoper:

      Actually, most people consider the 1998 computer version as the 3rd Edition.

      Two versions for the original MB version.  The 1991 clarification sheet is more of a FAQ than an edition.  The Nova edition is considered a “0” edition.

      You beat me to the punch.

      Since there were 2 MBs before 3rd edition it cannot be 1nova-2MB-3revised or even 1 nova 2,3 MB 4revised

      I remember doing paratroopers on the computer version and being annoyed at losing my capitals.

      I agree krieghunds 3rd edition in that list was a little confusing since it was only released in the computer game.

    • Scrambling, subs, and allied transport question

      Alright, go back to the scenario where US transport has UK units in the Japan SZ, and they try to land units on Korea. But now, add a UK sub to the mix. What happens then? Since there is a UK sub, the battle should be a draw and thus UK does not lose the battle. Can UK then unload?

    • RE: What do I ask WOTC for off the bat?

      @Spade632:

      Just called WOTC today, long overdue, they’re shipping the tac bombers and the battlestrip.  I asked about the additional mech. inf. but they said unless I was short-shipped originally that they weren’t sending any out.

      It’ll be nice to get the additional tac bombers though, and of course Europe '40 in a couple days :D

      To get the mechs you should try the phone not email. The guy originally told me that 6 was the correct amount, so I told him that the Japanese would need more mech inf if this game was supposed to be able to combine with E40. He said he would send some mechs (not sure how many) with the other replacements (my game came with a few pieces broken). I am now very happy with my purchase.

    • RE: Cruisers and tac bombers new abilities

      I have an idea. Allow bombarding units to attack every round of combat as long as each bombarding unit is paired with an amphibious ground unit. This would make Cruisers one heck of a deal especially against AA gun territories. They would be like fighters that don’t have to worry about being shot down if the opponent gets unlucky.

    • RE: Carriers attacking transports to retreat, can they?

      @moralecheck:

      @Wilson2:

      That carriers cannot kill transports is in the AAP40 FAQ. However, it also says that Carriers can attack “Q. Aircraft carriers have an attack vaIue of zero. Does this mean that they can’t attack other units and can only be used defensively in battles?
      A. No. They can participate in an attack and take hits just like any other warship. They just don’t get an attack roll.”
      So I would take this to mean that they may attack transports and nothing happens. Then they may or even may have to retreat.

      Rules lawyer strategy. Interesting, if not frustrating, lol.  I still call shenannigans on this sleaze tactic!!  Don’t make me get the broom!!!  Is that South Park reference to old?  :evil:

      Also the word “participate” is subject to interpretation.  I would seem to imply something else needs to be there as well.

      Note the words “just like any other warship.” Any other warship can attack all by themselves and can attack transports all by themselves. Sure the carriers can’t kill the transports but they should be able to attack them.

    • RE: Which is best version to play.

      @docfav7:

      Global is going to be the way to go.  No doubt.  However, if time is a concern, Spring 1942 is still a great option.  We play this on Monday nights.  A couple of things though.  GET RID OF THE BOARD!  Download IL’s map and get it printed somewhere.  This is a must.  #2 get an extra set of money.  Poker chips, old style money, whatever.  Those 2 things alone make 1942 version worth playing.

      Try it first. So many people dis the '42 board, when it is perfectly playable. Definitely try playing on it and see if you like it before spending a bunch of money to get a new one printed.

    • RE: True Neutrals question

      If I were to invade a true neutral, I would go for them all or at least most of them. Hit Turkey, Spain, Saudi, Switzerland, even Mongolia. If you got to take the penalty, you might as well get your “money’s” worth. Plus as previously mentioned, it kills potential allied units too.

      @marechallannes:

      What’s the problem? :?

      They have to share the same sea zone, if they can’t attack each other.

      The carriers can’t retreat, cause there is no sea battle.

      I think that there can be a battle. If I am not mistaken transports alone can attack ships to get themselves killed. I think this would be the same idea.

      No, I have asked that question before. The carrier cannot kill the transport. Because of this, I wondered if you could use the transport to speed move your ships.

    • RE: Avatar (movie): Your thoughts…

      I did not like the film for its whole pantheistic, worship the trees theme as well as the language and gore, not the “we kicked the Native Americans out” moral. The lack of clothing on the blue people also had something to do with it.

      @calvinhobbesliker:

      No. 1 and 2 force you to save 1 or 2.

      No what?  If you only have 1 or 2 IPC’s left then you save them if your playing by rules that allow you to save 1 or 2.

      Do you mean playing by the rules? Really, who doesn’t play with being able to save money? Most likely you, but I don’t know any others.
