      @JimmyHat:

      The biggest issues we had were map imperfections and trying to figure out which sz’s line up with other sz’s around panama.  Once you get clarification from his site though then you can figure out how to move in North America.

      I agree as my friend also had problem finding which seazone connects in a global game lol

    • RE: OOB rules questions for global 1940

      @Krieghund:

      1. No.  The United States declares war in the Collect Income phase only if the other conditions for declaring war are not met first.  If provoked, the US declares war at the beginning of the Combat Move phase, like everyone else.  Also, the US is never automatically at war with anyone unless that power declares war on it.

      2. No, it’s a normal strict neutral.

      3. It gives players more flexibility that way.

      4. Units load and offload on their own turn.  They may not both load onto and offload from an ally’s transport on the same turn, even if the transport doesn’t move, so they must spend a round on board.

      5. As with land units on allied transports, they move only on their own turn.  During the ally’s (carrier owner’s) turn, they remain on board and are cargo.  If the carrier attacks, they will not participate in the battle, and will be trapped on board if the carrier is damaged or lost if the carrier is sunk.  If the carrier is attacked (on an enemy’s turn), they defend normally.

      6. No, it does not stop land crossing, assuming land crossing is allowed.  Sea traffic is affected normally.

      7. The AA fire is done by each facility, so the bombers are divided into groups and assigned to facilities before AA is resolved. Each facility fires only at the bombers attacking it directly.

      8. Only hits from the ships may be applied to the subs.  The plane hits must be assigned to either surface ships or planes.  On the other side, hits scored by subs must always be assigned to ships (surface or sub).

      For more information, see the Pacific FAQ and Official Rules Clarifications for Europe and Global.

      Thanks for the help and info ! cheers

      However, you negate that flexibility to China, and you even negate China to enter India, even if it’s part of a China’s NO  :| From a historical point of view, it would be more logical China entering FIC or India than Japan attacking USSR before USA or attacking USSR for that matters :roll:

      i agree, this japan on russia thing is poor design as the german player always asks japan to declare war on russia first turn which is always unrealistic yet game changing (russia mostly loses in this case) >< it should have been a rule saying japan cant declare war on russia unless russia and germany are at war already (that makes more sense no ?)

      @JimmyHat:

      Now if we could just get them to include more US subs.  I’ve had to pilfer my A&AE game for US subs because for some reason for a few games US has mass produced subs to squash Japan.

      wait really ? which box was it missing from ? (pacific i assume ?) how many was suppose to be there ? dam i need to start making an inventory of parts i got lol

      EDIT: oh you mean they should have included more lol i guess , does US need a lot ? never really saw them use subs much , mostly just surface warships and planes lol

      @Red:

      Okay, my previous post was flagged as spam, probably because it included a link to this forum (apparently that is some sort of major no-no.)  Fix this bullshit moderators.  Either that or actually review posts and approve them rather than leaving them in limbo forever for no f’ing reason as seems to be the norm here.  Calling someone a spammer for trying to actually be helpful just really pisses me off.  And those are the nicest words I can use at the moment, after toning it down several times.

      Here is the 2nd try, minus the link:
      I just called them (WOC) and asked for the extra Jap tac bombers and the replacement battlestrip  (this was just a few weeks ago.)  They didn’t ask for anything other than my address and email.  It was a very friendly conversation, not an interrogation.  I would expect an email or web based query asking for these specific items would be handled promptly as well.

      They sent 6 new Jap tac bombers and the battlestrip, no charge.  The extra tac bombers really helped in the game as I had a rather large carrier force to counter a combined US/Anzac build up…plus my ground based tacs pounding China and Burma.   So I was able to retire the Russian fighters from the 1942 A&A game that had been sitting in as tac bombers.

      You asked earlier about a thread for 1940 AAP, this is the post I put together for just that purpose:  (Link to the AAP 40 forum removed to get past the bullshit spam filter.  You should be able to see the link scrolling through the topic summary if you try to reply.)  It doesn’t include any further Global updates for AAP, rather it addresses AAP as a stand alone.  There are newer scramble and tech rules and such in Global, but I have no idea whether or not they should be included in AAP.  I consider it frozen in adolescence until a major update is made to the AAP 40 FAQ.

      thank you very much for you effort to help answer the questions here , i personally appreciate post like these , and matter of fact think ill email them to see if i can get the extra planes for my two copies of pacific XD

      cheers mate

      @Mountaineer:

      Another error in Pac40 was the battlestrip. It is reprinted from AA42.  So it has a german roundel and lacks mech inf and tac bomber markings.  WOTC had a fix kit for the tacs and the strips for a while, not sure if they still do.  The fix kit included a new strip and 6 Tacs, the extra 3 were a bonus to make up for the error.

      They still ship 'em out. I received mine just a month ago.

      how do you approach them ? just send them an email ? how do you prove you bought a copy ?

    • OOB rules questions for global 1940

      as topic , thanks in advance for anyone helping answering my questions :

      1. Does USA still declare war on collect income phase when japan has declared war on allies (or anzac or Britain declare war on japan) ? (so meaning that turn 3 collect income phase declare war is only for the 3 turn event and normal combat phase delcare of war is implied in the above case ?)

      Or do it immediately count as already at war with japan instead when that happens? (or when the above happens declares war in the combat phase of its own turn on japan as to response to japan declaring war on brit and anzac ?)

      1. Is there any OOB rules for Mongolia for Russia , or is it just a strict neutral in a OOB global game ?

      2. Ok why does japan have so much freedom to even declare war on soviets on turn 1 ? (ok more of a game design question)

      3. how does moving your own troops (or your ally’s troops) into the ally’s transport work ? (or vice versa) im confused to when does the unit inside offload or when it can do amphibious assault  in that case

      4. Still confused about how ally planes work on your aircraft carrier (or vice versa)

      5. Does your own (or enemy ships) in narrow straits / channels , stop enemy (or vice versa) to cross by land ? (obviously it stops sea units right ?)

      6. when strategic bombing , is it each facility (major / minor / air / naval) base have to roll separately for each bomber ? so meaning for say 2 bases attacking 2 bombers , roll 2 dice against Each bomber ? and not 4 dice and let the bomber player decide what to lose ?

      8 ) If at the start of battle , no destroyer is present in the combat but has planes and another non destroyer ship , while the other side has subs , how does the both hits on subs go ? Just taking out the cruiser and leave the planes alone ? Same for the hits from planes , where does it go ?

      @Young:

      The amount of gray chips provided should also be seen as an error, regardless of the solution suggested that we pillage our old games for more…. Which is a rediculus solution as a consumer.

      ive actually played my first game of global tonight , though didnt finish the game , we really started to feel the lack of grey chips lol humm……well at least i know i have 2 more set games worth of parts coming in soon XD

      @moralecheck:

      6 is the wrong amount.  There were supposed to be 9.  Or did you mean you did not have the “I only got 6” problem?

      oh really ? cause i thought people were saying they had 0 , so 6 is actually less >< sigh , then i guess its a problem to my copy too ><

      PS: i just bought One  extra copy of both (pacific and Europe) for a fair price of 67 Au each (finally found a place that still has stock lol lucky) , well at least i should have enough game models / parts to play global game right ? (as well as colored chips )

      @JimmyHat:

      Perhaps, I am from Iowa which always tests among the highest in the nation.  I also live in college town.  I expect my fellow humans to have achieved the basics on education, its a fault of mine.  BTW they have classes on how to use spellchecker if you need help.

      oh i see , So i guess having 1 spelling error makes someone fail their “basic human test” , oh so you Do share the same ideology as a certain German political group back in the 1940’s lol Your right , its not your fault people dont live up to your standard doesnt deserve any right to post or anything .

      BTW , BTW is not English lol just so you know , you know since your so hard on with these type of things  , oh yeah also they have “how not to behave like A hole” (btw A hole isnt a word either lol) here in Sydney , you know if you need help or anything lol

      Cheers and lets all move on from this idiotic conversation on whos the “better human” XD and get back on topic

      Now on topic :

      For some reason , some of the errors that others stated are not present in my version of pacific (example i have 6 jap tac bombers etc) , so maybe there was a 1.5 print during production ?

      @JimmyHat:

      Don’t buy it, you should instead spend your money on something a little bit more valuable.  Like a tutor for your horrendous spelling.  Or better yet an Tech guy who can explain to you how to use spellchecker.  THOSE are the things you /really/ need to be spending money on.

      wow i thought the only Remnants of a certain German political group in the 1940’s are in games , didn’t know they still are here in the spelling country lol oh well learn something everyday dont we ? So while i learn my spelling , you can learn you Some FFFFing manners XD

      cheers and go club some baby seals while your at it

      @Red:

      Pacific can be had at a discount.  You can get the missing Jap tac bombers and a corrected battle strip for free through Wizards of the Coast.  Other than some substantial set up changes it appears to be reasonably complete.

      I still haven’t decided if I would buy Europe 1940 before a reprint if I happened to come across it locally at list price.  It seems to have bigger flaws than Pacific:  using German figures for Italy, and Russian ones for France, plus the global rule set is being reworked.  So I’m inclined to wait for it to be reprinted to see if these are addressed.   Q4 of 2012 would be just fine, as it would be a Christmas gift for my son.

      wait……WHAT? theres missing tac bombers for japan and the battle strip is wrong ? (ive only briefed looked at whats in pacific after opening  What else do i need to check the game with ? (is there any complete list for both games i need to know that needs fixing or missing besides the faq for both games which ive read ?)

      Well I bought Europe 1940 few days ago, great game and wanted to buy pacific and all, then I read about all the misprints in both games, now im wondering should I buy pacific anyway even with the errors? (well Europe has less error but still errors) and the fact that the global rules are fuzzy as of now to play with (yes i know alpha 3 and all but i still want my map and set ups and rules to be fixed first),

      Should i wait for reprints of both games (so i can buy both then?  Well i can always sell the old set of keep the bits as extra bits) , anyone has news on this ???
