      But perhaps the main point would be to make it as balanced as possible? Not as good as possible. If you found out 12 ipcs to china would make for a balanced game, maybe that would be the best solution?

      I agree with this statement as much as possible.  If we’re going to bid, it might as well reflect the changes in A&A:50 as a NEW game.  I’m sorry but extra infantry/tanks in the Caucuses or in Egypt screams a retread of A&A over and over again.  It may help the Allies win easiest, which is what they’ve always been doing with KGF.

      Lets put those extra IPCs in China (or the Pacific) so that those 32243 extra rules about China are worth memorizing.

      Depends on the context (what’s going on in the game, what your goals are).  Generally speaking, the economically optimal attack ratio is approximately 2:1 (inf/art).  But in practice, most players keep their inf/art stacks at a ratio b/w 3:1 to 5:1 because infantry are better for defense, and because you want to use infantry for trades, and also because tanks can be used to supplement attack punch which means you don’t need as many artillery.  In Revised, where tanks are only 5, some experts only purchase artillery when they are getting set to attack a capital, because they prefer the mobility and flexibility of tanks as their primary offensive asset.

      I find another problem with this entire business. We are only dealing with land units here, and also on a massive scale to boot. I can see a Russian force consisting of 30 soldiers, but if the German has 10 infantry, 5 armor, 2 fighters, and a bomber attacking, those 30 infantry are gone. but 20 infantry with 6 armor would deal more damage in my books, simply because the 3 has a bigger chance than the 2 of the infantry, and once you reach a certain point, stacking starts to go down. It’s a negative parabola. It sucks with only 3 infantry, its good with 10-30 infantry, but it starts to suck again after that… if merely for a bigger picture rather than that small territory it’s fought in. I’m sorry I can’t use particular details, or examples, but your cases of 100 infantry are completely irrelevant…

      That of course assumes a build of 1 IC in Manchuria which is the safest (notice safe, not necessarily wise) place to build one.

      May I suggest a possible infantry change based on historic facts. Russians had more men, Germans had better equipment and training for their troops not to mention their skill at combined arms tactics. So, why not let the Russians have their cheap infantry buys while giving the Germans a bonus in attack strength, say 2 in attack and 2 in defense when combined with armor or air units, ( no need for Artillary). Now that is what I call an easy fix. Since the germans start out with more tanks and planes than thier opponents they will kick butt early. But when the allies start to build up their combined arms, Germany will be overwhelmed in numbers. So the axis better do a lot of damage real quick to win.
          Should be more fun though.
      If someone does play-test this in a game could they let me know how it worked out? Thanks.
