What I did was glue a 1/8" x 1/32" magnet on the top of the flightstand peg. I also glued an identical magnet onto the plane itself. Works well with my magnetized carriers as well. That being said, the plane can also be permanently attached to the plane as well. I haven’t officially made them available yet, but a few people put in orders at YG’s tournament back in September. If you wanted to put yourself on a list message me your email address and I will be in touch with some details. Thanks for the interest, hope to start hearing from everyone soon.

well, they missed the soft release here in Canada. Said it would be the 22nd of September. Sad that LH won’t be able to sign it. Oh well. Maybe just the original.

Yes sir. 3mm magnet. Fits right on top of the peg. No overlap. Peg is still small enough if you want to mount directly to the aircraft. Also worth mention. I have inserted 3mm steel blanks into my aircraft. Keeps them from bunching together in the piece tray, but give the magnets some strong to hang on to.

Ask and you shall receive!
These are not readily available pegs from an online store. The ones we used here are extruded acrylic rods that need to be cut to length. They have HIGH machine tolerance levels. What that means is they are 0.001"+/- from the advertised diameter, and they can be press fit into the base without glue. And no, they will not work loose. You need pliers and a lot of force to pull them apart. The base has more than enough density to stand up right with the biggest bombers in the game even if the table is knocked around. The base is a nickel coated steel 12mm in diameter that fits the center of the counter chips perfectly just like the infantry do.
Having just mentioned the infantry, the stands are 32mm tall from the table top to the tip of the peg, leaving more than enough room for that pesky japanese bayonet.
I hope the community enjoys them as much as I did making them for you!

@CWO:
As another option, note that Litko Game Accessories…
…has a large variety of acrylic flight stands, in many shapes and sizes…
http://www.litko.net/categories.php?category=Flight-Stands-%26-Accessories
…including separate bases, pegs and toppers. Litko is never out-of-stock because they don’t actually keep an inventory; they manufacture units on demand as orders arrive.
@CWO:
Here’s an example of a small-sized Litko flight stand, and an example of their toppers. The description page for the flight stand actually includes a review by an A&A Global 1940 player.

Mini Flight Stands (10)
Product Description
Set of 10 stands
Mini flight stands are perfect for your board game pieces, and smaller vehicles. The triangular foot design allows you to pack a bunch of figures in a small space. Each stand is supplied with a 1 inch peg, and are compatible with all of LITKO’s flight stand pegs and accessories. These markers require assembly. We recommend our Craftics #33 acrylic cement for all our multi-part plastic products.
Product Reviews
1. Great for A&A 1940 Global
Posted by Brad on 29th Jul 2014
I purchased 4 of these stands to make 40 total for use in Axis and Allies 1940 2nd Ed. Global. These are great to add some dimension to a crowded board. The bases sit nicely on the A&A unit counter chips. I used 20 or so stands in Europe, since most planes are land based. This helped to free up some space since most of Europe is filled with land and air units at initial setup. Air units that were carrier based did not get a stand. I used 10 stands on the Pacific board since most of the air units are, or will be, carrier based. Overall a great addition to a game I love. The only downside is that some pegs seemed to fit some bases better than others, with a little finesse they all got assembled. Craftics #33 Cement was used to assemble bases and attach units, worked great.

Flight Peg Toppers (20)
Product Description
Set of 20 peg toppers.
Flight Peg Toppers provide a larger “glue-able area” at the top of the flight peg to make it easier to attach models.
Designed for use with our standard 3mm - 1/8 diameter flight pegs.
Thanks for the share. These have been around for awhile. I have had them in the past and the bases have to be so big because of the light weight material that it ends up being a nuisance.
I used to dabble in cnc machinery, maybe its time again ;)

PhotoBucket no longer freeposted in Website/Forum Discussion
Just a heads up for those who don’t know already. Photo Bucket is no longer going to be free when doing 3rd party hosting. This also includes all past up loads. Everyone who uploaded photos in the past and are not currently paying for their services, we will no longer be able to see them. Sad news

Axis & Allies 50th Anniversary Edition is one of the greatest games in the whole entire franchise… that’s why I’m gonna buy one.
I couldn’t agree more Sir! I pre ordered mine today

RE: Anniversary edition reprint announced at Origins?posted in News
Although it would be understandable if they did make the original a bit better than the re-release
That makes no sense at all, if anything, the opposite should be true… it should either be the same or a little better, because its newer… you don’t “unimprove” a product you expect people to buy… once again, that sounds like a special snowflake statement that “my ‘original’ copy will always be better than yours”. There’s no reason to make a reprint or new edition any less than the original.
Well thats not fair at all. I would like to mention the IPC’s, plastic moulded factories, and less detailed (although more country specific) pieces. Although the game play has gotten more complex, they have definitely been some short comings in the box to offset the “upgrades”

Would definitely like for AH to keep the status quo with the game. Although it would be understandable if they did make the original a bit better than the re-release

RE: 3D factories … would there be a market?posted in Customizations
There you go, full set of glow in the dark factories…
“Glow in the Dark?” you say… “Damn right!” I reply… “Imagine it is friday the 13th, your dog swallow one of your factories… All hell break loose, you have a game on saturday the 14th!!! What to do? What to do?.. Keep calm and Carry on (as the British once said)… Wait until night time, bring the felon pet for a walk until it poops! and Taaaaaaadaaaaaaaaaaaaa… Here is that chimney poking proudly out of the newly deposited, (and probably still warm…ewwww) to scale, Mount Everest of brown “organic” matter… There you go fellow… that glow in the dark saved the day! You can proudly walk back home and rest assured that your incoming game will have all it’s pieces…!”
Disclaimer: Ya might want to spic and span that factory before the game… just saying… The things can be painted so you can bet your butt that dog poop will stick…
Addendum: “But… DCC… My dog is too small to poop the factory… :(” DCC: “Well, aren’t you a lucky one! You just got a glow in the dark dog at no extra charge… You are welcome!”

Awesome set DCC!!! Thats not even a competitive price. That is ridiculously low. We the community can not thank you enough!

YG, I’m still young and in college. No wife, and little money. But I manage to scrape together money for Axis and Allies when necessary, and this may be necessary
Great to see a young college goer playing axis and allies… It really is!!!
