Modify Guadalcanal rules will prevent the Japanese player from sending a fleet of ships about every two turns down the slot. I like this idea of oil for units. No oil, no IJN or USN to attack with.

RE: Oil productionposted in House Rules
IL, agreed, your idea for oil tokens use and cost makes sense. This will make a player really think about their purchases instead of as you stated just buying a bunch of Battleships and sailing the around the world. Ships use a lot of fuel so this would make a nice variant to any game.

RE: HBG sculpts for U.S. setposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Gents, I would eventually like to have all three, LST, LCM and LVCP. Think of the invasion only Game like D-Day, it could be modified where all Overlord forces must arrive via landing craft. Think what German Panthers and 88mms could do to a landing force in that game if all Allied forces are transported to the beaches via landing craft.
LST transports 3 units per craft
LCM transports 2 units per craft
LVCP transports 1 unit per craft
Landing craft have a defense factor of 1 or 0?
Embarked units are lost if the landing craft is sunk.
Embarked units have a 0 defense factor
If this is the wrong place for this suggestion please let me know.

IL, great idea. I have never liked playing the Germans and get invaded directly from America. I had hoped that Larry Harris would have fixed this in newer games but he never has. Your idea is perfect and should be incorporated into any future rules published.

RE: 1939 Mapposted in Global War
I looked at your special units for initial set. I noticed France has none. Why not consider adding the French Foreign Legion who where an integeral part of French North African Colonies? Give them a higher attack and defense rating than normal French Infantry. Limit them to 6-8 total at the start of the game and they can’t be constructed.

HGB, Ditto for me nice list. If this sales goes off great, consider adding landing craft. LSTs, LCMs or LVCPs in your second US group. :-D :-D

FMG, excellent. If I was in your shoes I wouldn’t even give a projected timeline on this at all. Too many variables that can come into play on a production like this. Just keep us in the loop on what your doing and when they are available for pre-order you will let us know. Cheers

RE: THE CONFLICT - The Great War 1914posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Gents, I think the designer is trying make them look like WWI ships. You wouldn’t want a Iowa or Bizmarck class Battleship in this or a Sherman or Panther tank. Unless you are doing your own alternate timeline This is going to be a cool game. If you do not like they way the playing pieces look grab a paint brush after Christmas this year and paint them up.

il, this is awesome, someone beat Wizards of the Coast to the punch! I will pre-order after I am employed again. Question your maps on media fire. Are they best printed out on a home printer or do you recommend taking them to Kinko’s for printing? Cheers :-D :-D

What Primer is used for prep of AA units?posted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Gents, I am clueless as to what primer those of you who paint AA units use. I have never used a primer before on any models or minatures. Brand and type, spray or paint is fine. Thank You

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion threadposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
FMG and Coach, just do your best. No One Company or Individual in the past 20 or so years has attempted to do what you are doing for our games. If people do not like what you produce than maybe they need to buy GHQ, Herocis and Ross, NAVWAR and DAVCO SYKTREX Ships, planes, tanks on so on. You should not take any FLAK from pontential purchasers on your projected and forth coming products. I do like being asked my opinion on what I would like to see produced, but I know I am not the one producing the molds or laying down the cash to getem done. Personally I really appreciate the effort, time and money you are investing in this and I will be purchasing what ever products you both produce so I have a greater AA Force pool to game with. Keep up the excellent work. I want to to remind everyone, that anything worth having takes time and a lot of energy and money to produce. So in the end lets all support these gentlemen who have stepped up to the plate to give us the option of owning some excellent units that are more realistic than the AA OOB units to game with. :-D :-D :-D :-D

RE: New sculpts for Marines Pollposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Spray on primer? I have painted thousands of minature warships, tanks, infantry :-o :-o and planes over the years and I have never realized I needed to put a primer base on them. I have always washed them and after they dried painted them in the chosen patterns. So if you are suggesting primer what do you use since even on my 1-700 scale Warship collection I never used a primer. Maybe it was written to do so but I can’t read Japanese, no instructions in English.

RE: New sculpts for Marines Pollposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
Coach, awesome sculpts. These are going to look great on massive AA boards. The JAPS (Japanese) for the sensitive types will not stand a snowball’s chance in the Sahara to defeat a force coming ashore on an island after say a Battleship or Cruiser bombardment, subject to die rolls. Again these are going to be a most welcome addition to our game. Idea for you to kick around, maybe make a set in a neutral color for those of us who take the time and effort to paint them in authentic colors and camo schemes. :-D :-D :-D :-D

FMG, I concur with Coach on the same aircraft lineup. We do not need any more B-17s or P-38s

RE: New U.S. Fighterposted in Other Axis & Allies Variants
BlackFox, Thank you for your service. USS Midway excellent. Our news media would go crazy if we sustained 100 bombers lost and 600 airmen killed in one day. Our current total bomber force is 100 B-52s and 40 B-1BS, 60 where canned and sent to the bone yard at Davis Monthan AFB. We have aprox 18-22 B-2 Bombers. When I joined the Airforce in 1979 we had over 790 B-52 Bombers and 7,000 fighter aircraft on 260 ea Air Force Bases worldwide. We had so many planes in England that the British public nicknamed their country USS England the unsinkable American Aircraft Carrier. I was on a base then, that is now closed that had 160 ea A-10 Thunderbolt II Tank Killers alone for 5 years. Warsaw Pact feared our wing of tank killers.
