      SnakeEyes,

I just was hired for a transportation position 3 weeks ago full time.  Now I am playing catch up with collection agencies, It will be around mid September before I can pay for a GOLD Edition.
If I want to purchase extra B-52s so I have a total of 12 bombers and additional Migs how much do I need to add to my current $185.00 pledge amount?  Second When I do pay can you process a visa debit card for payment or a Paypal transaction thru someone else??

      SnakeEyes, Per your request

20th Tactical Fighter Wing – RAF Upper Heyford

      55th Tactical Fighter Squadron F-111E 1971–1993
      77th Tactical Fighter Squadron F-111E 1971–1993
      79th Tactical Fighter Squadron F-111E 1971–1993
All three Squadrons were fully combat ready by November 1972.
Some of these Aircraft  and F-111s from RAF Lakenheath pulverized Kadaffi years later.

So I would for game purposes say 3 squadrons available for 72-73.

      SnakeEyes,

From my knowledge F-111’s begin to arrive in 3rd Air Force USAFE Jan 1972 at RAF Upper Heyford and the last F-111’s were sent in 1977 to RAF Lakenheath. Any other questions please let me know.

      SnakeEyes,

I don’t know if you are looking to expand the aircraft in your 73 game. Here are several ideas:

General Dynamics F-111 Fighter Bombers capable of delivering nuclear weapons were a mainstay for USAFE during the Cold War. The 20th TFW stationed at RAF Upper Heyford, UK participated in F-111 NATO and US unilateral operations Shabaz, Display Determination, Cold Fire, Ocean Safari, Datex, Priory, Reforger, Dawn Patrol, Highwood, Hammer, and others from January 1972 to October 1993. The 474th Nellis AFB, Nevada sent their General Dynamics F-111, and the 366th TFW at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, sent their F-111Fs to RAF Lakenheath in early 1977 for additional USAFE SAC bombers. Between the two bases during the 1980s they had roughly 150 bombers combined. These were known as are front line bombers to stop the WARSAW PACT while I was assigned to 81st TFW RAF Bentwaters and RAF Woodbridge twin bases 1981-1986 A-10 Thunderbolt IIs.  B-52s were on a rotation to RAF Fairford, RAF Menwithhill and RAF Upper Heyford.

Second Aircraft: McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II were operational at multiple bases in USAFE during the Cold War. 1972 onwards.

      Gentlemen.

Here is a little of my Family History, My Father and most of my Uncles were in Vietnam.  My Father served in the USAF 819 Red Horse Engineering Squadron and was assigned to the following locations in country. Ben Wah Air Base, Da Nang Air Base, Tan Son Nhut Air Base, Udorn Royal Thai Air Force Base and TTakhli Royal Thai Air Force Base. I discovered all this after he passed away many years ago. I spoke with my mother about this last weekend and she thought he never left Ben Wah.  I found his medals that he hid from everybody so he was not heavily ridiculed for serving in Vietnam. Unfortunate that he hid them and didn’t wear them while he was still active… It was an heart felt moment for me when my wife and i found them and the certificates of presentation. He received a medal for each base he was assigned to during Vietnam. I had an Uncle who was a USMC Embassy Guard and another who was signed to the Task Force 77 as a Petty Officer in charge of Aircraft repairs aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. Note spelling on the Vietnam bases maybe in shambles Iv’e seen them spelled several ways, so I choose the spelling that looked best to me. If anyone can find anything on Ben Wah Airbase please let me know i have searched the web and can not find even a reference to it so far. My mother still has several letters envelopes from that time with the APO so I know it was a real US Base.

I agree with everyone that Eagle games are low end at best. The only thing they did Right in my mind was the Conquest of the Empire Roman game a re-make of Milton Bradley’s Conquest of the Empire (1984). The Civil War and Civilization could have been done to a lot higher standard.  Enough of that.  Vietnam War I am still wanting to jump on board and purchase this game at the Gold level. But being without work for now 16 months has really put a damper on purchases.  I may end up waiting till the last hour to jump on board since Uncle Same took my income tax for Obama Care.  Anyway everyone supporting this game to bring it to our gaming tables, Thank You.

i think Wizards would have gotten more $$$$ from a Cold War or Ultra modern game or even an American War for Independence, instead of zombies which I can not see any thing positive for using them in a AA game.

      Gentlemen,

Coach and his team are dealing with the Chinese and US customs to get these sets done. Their ideas and time frames and his don’t always match up. I have spoken with him about this multiple times in the last several years and it can be very frustrating to give an estimated available to purchase date and then have many circumstances beyond his control interrupt the production of his new sets. so I just order when i can and hope for the best knowing what he is dealing with to get the new units and sets produced so we can purchase them.

      Coach,
Those are awesome, looking forward to what time line and progression you will use for bombers, tanks, warships, artillery and the infantry.
You haven’t even sold or created the first set of these yet, but  I am in on this one.  This looks like a possible Kickstarter cannidate.  :-D :-D :-D :-D

      Gents.

I agree all the sets that are being produced will be excellent additions to AA.  That said Zombies?  I live in state where there a nuts jobs who really believe in them and drive around with the words Zombie Emergency Response Team on their vehicles in case we have a real zombie invasion. They even give a valid local number and cell phone to call if you have a zombie problem to deal with.
As for a game, my jury is still out on this one.  I would prefer another Super Weapons set with UK, France and Italy instead.

    • RE: HBG - Axis & Allies Parts/Accessories and Custom Piece Sets Store!

      Gents,

You both got that right! I have scores of the old Xeno pieces still named after actual ships!  I am slowly repainting them and giving them all to minor or nations yet to be fielded on an AA game board.
Nations like, Chile, Argentina, India, Turkey, South Africa, Norway, Denmark, Portugal and anything else I can think of.
I Believe with the recent success of HGB’s Amerika on Kickstarter we will see many more unique nation units in the future.
The day for the old classic AA, Xeno, Skytrex, Heroics and Ross have seen their day in my book and GHQ you can just forget about them, they are making buying their units an extreme challenge.  Kudos to Coach and FMG for giving us something other than just generic game units on a board.

      Allied Secret Weapons.

Gents,  I thank you for the clearing up as to Coach’s plan.  It makes sense.  These new units are well done and I have about 75 percent of them base coated already.  The detail level on the ships is almost to the detail level of GHQ.  The Kaga you can identify hanger doors and AA mounts on. The new Kate sits on the deck with no issues so does the VAL from AA.
Really looking forward to the next sets HBG is producing.

    • RE: HBG's Japanese Sets

      Gents,

Received mine yesterday and already started painting them.  BB Fuso is almost 1/4800 scale and quite small compared to the FMG and AA Battleships, th.  Coach and variable any particular reason why is Battleship Fuso so tiny?  Hopefully your future BBs are big like the AA Kongo’s or AA Bismarck’s which are closer to 1/3000 scale. The Fuso is smaller than your early war German Schelswig-Holstein Class BB, It is very close to 1/4800 scale warships.  Otherwise an awesome set.  For future note the USN Oklahoma, New Mexico and Pennsylvania classes where smaller than any WWII class of IJN Battleships. Fuso, Ise and Mutsu BBs where close or slightly bigger than the USN New York class BBs.
The new Kates ride well on all IJN Carriers.  The  high detail on the Fuso, Kaga are excellent.  APC and SPGs are good in size and the paratroopers are about the same size and HBG marines.  Heavy bombers are sturdy and none of the aircraft wings are fragile.  Coach, thnak you for the extras units.
Keep up the good work and looking forward to the next two Japanese sets.

      Coach and Variable,

A well thought out response, I like it, you have my support.
Your sets are steering me away from GHQ and Skytrex, just keep producing units and I will buy them.

      TALL PAUL,

I concur, a NELL medium bomber for the Japanese for early war would be an appropriate unit to have.  I have 8 NELL’s in metal 1/600 scale from PICO Miniatures an they are heavy little planes.
