      @SS-GEN That’s awesome, not sure I’ve seen your war room before! We’d love to have it eventually!

      My dad has been living with my grandma for a while now (partly because of his divorce, and also to help grandma around the house). So we play there on the dining room table. My dad’s dream is to eventually get his own place again and convert any spare bedroom to an awesome war room and get a sweet custom made table. Would love to do all that myself too, but house is probably too small and wife would probably murder me!

      Love your setup there. I always envision damn near the same thing!

      @warhawk77 You have probably found a map by now, but in case you’r still looking I thought I would mention this.

      Before I managed to get my hands on 1914 I printed this reworked map out, and used 1940 pieces.

      The nice thing is even if you do eventually get 1914 you may still prefer to use this map (since Europe has a lot more space on it).

      42 is closer to even balance out OOB, and debatably a little quicker. It may be worth looking at that for the first game and try the more unique(compared standard games) 1941 scenario after.

      End of turn 9. Axis win.
      Came down to allies lost 5 figs and bombers only hit like 15%. A lot of bomber attacks where in pairs against tanks. So Ave would be 1 kill but not this game. Bombers only had like 3 or 4 hits the whole game. That hurt big time.

      Turn 8 allies had 7 defense hits to clean out St Lo but on turn 9 the figs didn’t get good move hits on axis and couldn’t clear out St Lo turn 9 in combat rounds.
      Allies are a bit stronger in this game. As mentioned above Ger art placements are key ( killed 5 figs most early )and mid turn allies fig placements can be challenging due to so many Ger zones to cover.
      Germany may of had a chance for Caen but,
      UK Gold beach units and so on have to go towards St Lo. Just watch the Germans on the back side.

      I did use the on fig return card u rolled a d8 die.
      1 = lose a plane
      8 = get a plane back
      Rolled a 1 once and next turn rolled a 8 so ends up 1 fig couldn’t get used 1 turn.

      And that’s that !

      I think the easiest and least expensive way for you to add more ships would be to use similarly-scaled vessels from either Panzerschiffe or Navwar…

      http://www.navwar.co.uk/nav/

      …and paint them.  Unlike the A&A WaS miniatures, the minis from both companies are still in production, so you won’t pay a collector’s premium for them.  The Panzerschiffe ships have the advantage of being cheaper to get (they’re made of resin, and the company is US-based), while the Navwar ones are more detailed and are made of metal.  There’s also GHQ (http://www.ghqmodels.com/), whose models are even more detailed, if that’s a consideration for you.

      Has anyone developed a ww1 setup for the 36 map or any others?
      I’d like to have a go at something like that!
      Some of the best games are developed by the community on here.

      I’ve been waiting for a while for some of these HBG variants…

      @CWO:

      @Warhawk77:

      Starting to play more and I was wondering do all the box sets have the game pieces in the same scale?

      The short answer is “mostly yes”. The longer answer is a bit more complicated. From game to game, A&A sculpts have generally been on the same scale when you compare units belonging to the same unit class; in other words, specific sculpt X will generally be the same size no matter which game it comes from. Within each class, however, scales can vary; for instance, the Yamato and Iowa battleship sculpts are roughly the same size, even though in reality Yamato was much bigger than Iowa. There’s even more variation between unit classes, the most extreme case being the scale of the infantry sculpts and the scale of the battleship / carrier sculpts.

      There have also been some cases of scale changes for specific units. The British and German battleship sculpts became larger and more detailed when many of the sculpts were “refreshed” at one point. The German 88mm sculpt went from being small (and mis-representing field artillery) to being large (and correctly representing an AAA gun), and the same thing happened to the Stuka (which originally mis-represented a fighter rather than a dive bomber). And note that the ANZAC infantry sculpt is somewhat notorious for being rather large compared with other infantry units.

      Reading the reply I see I should have asked the question better. I should not have used the term scale as the pieces are different scales compared to each others but you fully understood what I was trying to say so thank you.

      I will point out I had never thought about the different types of planes and guns that the sculpts are until you pointed it out so now I will have to go thru my games and compare them all.  :-D I know I’m helpless and get sidetracked very easy maybe a little ADD on my part, but what else would I do tomorrow?

      Thanks Again

      @Topmat:

      Hope your game goes great!  :-D

      Thanks we had a good time. We finished that game and played another on Sat.  Then I dug out my Axis & Allies Navel ships and Wings of War (WWI & WWII) we played all those too. So we played a lot of games over the weekend I really enjoyed the time glad I never got rid of those things.
