I like Pacific too, though not as much as the others (although, I think I like it more than D-Day).

I’ve tried to take Australia, but by the time you get a strong enough force down there America has a navy that can crush anything you send at it. India is the best bet.

Don’t know enough about the case to make any decision. The mere accusal of assault, unless there’s actual evidence to back it up, is not enough in my mind to convict the fellow. And on top of that, nine-million dollars is a Hell of a lot of money, and there’s no way, even if he did assault her, that she needs that much money to “compensate.”

I agree with what CC said, so I voted balanced.

    • RE: The Final Poll

No b/c you will just refute them with the same kind of backwards reasoning that has lead to to believe the democrats are horribly guity of something in Illinois in the first place

I don’t know why I’m bothering to reply to this, but… I never said anything about the Democrats and Illinois. Never even mentioned it. You insisted the Republicans were guilty of fraud in Florida, and refuse (because you are, to all appearances, unable) to provide any evidence to back that claim up. So, you simply assume that, because one side does something in one state, the other side must be doing the same thing in another state (and let’s pick Florida, 'cause it’s so controversial!), and to hell with the evidence.

Since the Republicans have done incredibly well since 1964 this is a logical assumption to make.

Uh huh. And since Ted Kennedy keeps getting elected in Mass, he must be cheating. The same goes for Dick Gephart, Tom Daschle, and a horde of other Democrat strongmen. Has it occurred to you that maybe most people in the country just prefer electing Republicans, because they like their principles (such as they differ from Democrats…)?

Nothing except that I am quite sure the democrats are as guilty of improprieties in Illinois as the Republicans are in Florida.

Ok, fair enough. Care to highlight what improprieties the Republicans were (or are) guilty of in Florida?

Yeah right b/c its only the other guys that cheat. What party was Nixon again?

Oh, that’s right, I forgot about Nixon’s infamous “Floridagate” scandal….

What exactly does Nixon have to do with a bunch of the usual suspects throwing out military ballots, smearing a woman simply doing her job, and inventing such stupidities as “dimpled chads,” “hanging chads,” “pregnant chads,” “freckled chads,” “pimply chads,” and “Chadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.” Ok, I made up those last three, but the point stands. Oh, and let’s not forget that a New York Times article written after the whole business was over (I think about a year or so ago, I don’t know) said that Bush won the election any way you count (or dimple) it.

I doubt that has much to do with their President being female, though; probably has more to do with the fact that the Philippines have a much larger Muslim population than the U.S. does, and a larger percentage of those are likely to be the fanatics we’re fighting against.

What I find the most troubling is the people that threw out voter registrations for people that where not gonna vote for their candidate. I don’t care what side people like that are on. They are scum.

Finally, Lizard; something we agree on ;) 8).

You know Agent, you were making sense until you said:

      the Republicans cheat in Florida

Give me a break. The Republicans did not cheat in Florida. If anything, the Dems did, what with all the recounts (notice, in every single recount, Bush still won!!), and the attempt to keep Katherine Harris (Secretary of State in Florida) from doing her job. Provide me with some actual evidence (not hearsay, mind you, evidence) that the Republicans “cheated” in Florida.

    • RE: The Final Poll

Let us hope to God that the whole Florida fiasco does not take place again this year, no matter who wins. If I had to listen to Peter Jennings and Dan Rather one more time….

You know, one thing that would almost make it worthwhile to see Kerry win (besides the humor that would follow, and the many opportunities for us pro-Bush people to smirk and say “I told you so”), would be if Kerry won the Electoral vote, but not the popular vote. When Gore won the popular vote, so many Democrats were screeching about how Bush didn’t really win; let’s see if they would do the same this time .

As AP said, y’all already know my preferences, so I too will spare the lecture. I’ll just say I find it likely Bush will win, thanks to his stands on certain issues, and the general dislike of Kerry.

    • RE: My annoying lunch

Janus: and just what exactly did your post to him do? Did it convince him he was wrong, and should change his mind? Did it contribute anything worth reading? I’ll give you hint, the answer’s no. His post, whether he was wrong or not, related to the discussion, as he was setting forth a view for comment. Yours did nothing, except reveal to the whole board your inability or disinclination to spend time coming up with a reasoned argument. I was simply pointing this out in my post, so it was perfectly relevant.

And THAT was another example of dismissing out of hand anything someone you dislike says, without bothering to actually refute his arguments, thus making you look no more intelligent than he. What’s your point?

    • RE: Animal fights, part 1

I’d have to pick the tiger in the tiger vs. lion; they are bigger and faster, and do more actual killing then a male lion anyway. The mane would be a problem, but I think the tiger could rip out the lion’s belly pretty fast.

As for the grizzly vs. polar bear, I have to vote grizzly; a polar bear may have more experience fighting, but I’m sure a grizzly is naturally more aggressive. Take Lewis and Clark’s telling of what happened when they met a grizzly :P.

    • RE: Debate #3

I say Bush; this was definitely his strongest debate (although #2 was very good too), and he actually surprised me with how well he came off in the debate-format it was in.

Kerry’s body language was so stiff that I had the other people watching the debate with me laughing their heads off at my robot impersonation while he was speaking  ;).

Well, according to that site, the average length of a Polar Bear is 8’4", whereas the top length of a Brown Bear is 9’6"… Still, in terms of ferocity, I don’t think you can beat a Grizzly :D.

Orca’s are bad a** though the only animal known to kill for amusement.

Orcas are cool, definitely, but I can’t see an Orca taking down a Giant Squid. They may be fast, but they’re not fast enough to avoid 12 arms coming at you .

Also, I think cats (mainly the house ones, but possibly also the big cats) kill for pleasure too. Ever seen one with a mouse? :o

The polar Bear is the largest land preditor on the earth and if it wanted Elephant it could have it!

I’m leaning towards agreeing with that, but a Grizzly Bear is actually bigger than a Polar Bear (it’s about as tall, but it’s wayyyy wider, not to mention more ferocious). I think a Grizzly could take 'em all down :D.
