Title says it all. Personally, I’m still waiting to hear more, but he doesn’t seem like a bad choice. Very experienced, seems like a fairly straight interpreter of the Constitution, I like most of his rulings (i.e., the 1996 abortion ruling, from which he dissented). Does have a few rulings I disliked, though I can’t at the moment recall exactly what they were, but on the whole, I’ll say I’m withholding final opinion.

RE: C.I.A. Sponsored Gulags?posted in General Discussion
I saw this recently as well.
Mary: why are you ashamed to be an American? What the CIA does does not reflect on all Americans in the minds of intelligent people, and who gives a darn what unintelligent people think?
While I’m at it, why is everyone assuming these prisons are a bad thing? You have no evidence of any actual wrongdoing having been committed, so why are you so quick to decide these are terrible places, worth becoming ashamed over?
I think I’ll start referring to “certain people” as The Perpetually Ashamed…. ;) :D

RE: What would you do with a month off?posted in General Discussion
Wow, CC, could you possibly sound more vindictive and childish? :-?
If you’re going for total vacation, I stand by the Caribbean, or possibly touring Australia.

Hey, Stuka, don’t ever diss the barnyard kegger… ;)
I’d say hitch-hike around the Caribbean. I mean, warm weather, beautiful beaches, hot babes… plenty to do there. You can always study dermatology later ;).

RE: When should we have gotten involved in WW1?posted in General Discussion
I’d actually say our joining the Allies had more to do with Wilson’s sympathies towards the British. He felt America and Britain had many things in common (which, I suppose, they do), and the general welfare of America was best served by aiding their long-time comrade England.
Personally, I think the U.S. had no business fighting in WWI; we would have been better served by staying neutral as best as possible, and carrying on trading with all powers at once.

Outside of not being as open a philanderer as he, I see no difference between her and Bill. So that’s an emphatic “no.”

See ya later Jen, be cool; looking forward to your return, and we can work together again (slash and burn, slash and burn… ;) ).

RE: Any of you subscribe to WW2 mag?posted in General Discussion
Got it for two years, and really liked it. Only cancelled the subscription 'cause I got so busy I couldn’t find the time to read 'em. I still have about 8 month’s worth totally unread :P.

RE: Canada's response to Katrina:posted in General Discussion
Frankly, the same goes for you and Falk, Haxor, so why don’t all three of you (Falk, Haxor, and Jen) shove it, or take it somewhere else? That ain’t what this thread is about. Jesus, this is the Mod’s job, why am I doing it?

RE: Canada's response to Katrina:posted in General Discussion
Funny, but uncalled for, Boot; Canada’s people are helping, and mocking their efforts is not only rude, but the height of stupidity.

On behalf of America (boy, they picked a lousy representative :P), thanks :).

RE: Govt. Response to Katrinaposted in General Discussion
I honestly don’t know enough about the response time, etc., to say whether anyone was horribly negligent, or if this is just an example of typical bureaucratic incompetence, which no one notices till it’s too late. I suspect the second, though; disasters such as these are one-in-a-million, being totally prepared to handle every aspect is impossible. For an institution like the Government, it’s beyond a fantasy :-?.
Oh, and Haxor; not what the thread’s about, so don’t want a side discussion here, but Jen has a point ;).

RE: Some new rules for civilityposted in General Discussion
Or… maybe people could just stay away from the borderline stuff? Wouldn’t that make life so much easier, and count down so much on hard feelings, etc.? Maybe it’s just me, but seems to make sense… :P

RE: What kind of player are you?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
What kind of player am I? Well, I don’t like to have more than three going at a time, because any more and they might start talking to each other, and… oh, wait, wrong kind of player .
I might throw the occasional die or two, but I’m just in it for the fun. And I play most of my games via e-mail, so it doesn’t do any good anyway ;) :P.

RE: The german eastern armyposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
I like to hold back all my Tanks and Fighters on the Eastern Font, say in Eastern Europe, and with a buffer of Infantry in and around them. Then, when Russia stretches out to far, I smash all his major military force in one fell swoop. Should he play smart, and keep playing defensively, I put out a force large enough to cause troubles if Russia ignores it, but small enough to be a temptation for him to destroy, and walk into my dead-zone. Just a thought…

RE: Who will win?posted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
I’d say the Allies have an advantage here, but I’m not prepared to call it for either player, knowing TMTM’s ability from personal experience :P.

RE: A&A Revised Game Balanceposted in Axis & Allies Revised Edition
Perry; yup, that’s how bidding work.
I’d say it’s about evenly balanced, but then I haven’t even finished my first game :P. Perhaps the Allies have a slight advantage, but that’s not really a bad thing, as it recreates reality well, and makes it more exciting to win as the Axis ;) :D.
