      Wait! The truth is out. Rush is finding a way to bow out ungracefully, TKO’d by drugs, rather than lose, KO’d, to the new challenge!

      Yeah, well that’s what you get when you face against Russian tanks and artillery. Poor Japs. :(

      (though it is impressive when you look at what the Japanese still held after the war was over)

      Probably because they would only have one or two territories…it would be possible, though kind of pointless. I think the primary reason to have Italy would be to balance out the game for Germany’s sake, or to make it so you could play online games. :wink:

      @Yanny:

      Funny thing is, The Declaration was signed on July 2nd. John Adams said something along the lines of “The people will celebrate July 2nd with pomp and fireworks”.

      Oh well, it was a good July 4th. Just wish people would stop playing that damn Lynard Skynard Song “Red White and Blue”, one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard played so much.

      @Janus1:

      no yanny, it was signed on August 2nd

      Here are the facts Jacks-

      July 2 – Congress declares independence as the British fleet and army arrive at New York.

      July 4 – Congress adopts the Declaration of Independence in the morning of a bright, sunny, but cool Philadelphia day. John Dunlap prints the Declaration of Independence. These prints are now called “Dunlap Broadsides.” Twenty-four copies are known to exist, two of which are in the Library of Congress. One of these was Washington’s personal copy.

      August 2 – Delegates begin to sign engrossed copy of the Declaration of Independence.

      I played the test version, before they charged for it, and I loved the setup. Just when the prices came I decided to stop using. The game itself is done really well though. However, you couldn’t play in any type of tournament with your virtual cards.

      Maybe because Rev Al is the only candidate actually working at it right now. The rest of them have actual jobs.

      Well, i was not asking for the country (i would have guessed that Boeeing sits in the US) but for the state :). Anyway, there are more important things to know.

      If you want to know the answer to this question all you have to do is ask a southerner “who is the most hated General in history?”

      They will always say Sherman.

      ?

      I think most of the backing came due to two facts:
      (1) the USSR needed reforms, that was obvious.
      Still, they probably wanted a long term leader that could be influenced => a younger one, after the two short reigns of Andropov and what-was-his-name… Probably, the influentials wanted some change, but surely not that much that it would threaten their power-base, one of the reasons for the coup that failed due to Jelzins help for Gorbachev.
      (2) The general secretary and all the other positions he fills made him the most powerful man in the USSR. Probably, whoever put Gorbachev into place, underestimated him. Pretty much the same underestimation that Hitler faced when he was appointed Chancellor, but luckily Gorbachev used that to reform positively, and i consider the new freedom of information, the right to ask wether the party is right and that the crucial reform.

      So, I don’t think that there was “real” backing, i believe Gorbachev was kind of a compromise candidate, kind of a makeshift. Of course, once he was into power, you ccouldn’t remove instantly, that would have meant that the party made a mistake (which was not “allowed” before Gorbachev). And he was clever enough to stay into power, and use his popularity at the beginning (which soon, after the economy started to collapse openly, was reduced to more or less nothing) to enforece the reforms.

      I don’t remember what I payed for World at war, its been over ten years. But I think it was worth it. We’ve tweeked the rules a bit and slightly modified the map then added in some stuff from AAE and AAP and its perfect. The games do tend to run a bit long though.
