    • Italian Navy to build or not to build?

      I have seen a few games were Italy takes all of Africa and becomes a pretty decent power until in meets the U.S.A and loses all of Africa so I was wondering would an Italian navy be a solution to holding Africa or is it just better to reinforce France while defending Rome?

      Here is my Idea for a Navy (trying to keep it in SZ 14). Turn 1 a fighter Turn 2 a Carrier Turn 3 a Destroyer, Turn 4 a transport to stop any U.S, U.K ground forces from moving through Egypt and killing the only real source of Italian income while at the same time robbing the U.K of up to 10 dollars a turn plus a NO.

    • German sz5 carrier

      So I have played a few games as the allies and won, but it’s only because the U.K can get a nice sized fleet into sz5 giving it free range on Norway,Poland, France and Karelia. and landing stuff in poland really helps the russians, so I was wondering as a German player what I would do and I think that the only real solution is a Carrier in Sz5 it stops the U.K from killing the Navy with airforce turn 1 and gives the germans a transport to either build defense in Norway or get Infantry to the front lines faster, I have also played anniversary edition and with U.K in Sz5 it destroys the Germans.
      So my questions are is a Carrier Ger1 a good buy or not? and second  if it is how would the U.K. go about killing it? I have two ideas on it, one is a airforce buy turn 1 and attack turn 2 along with the U.S airforce’s starting planes for backup, or a Uk buy naval buy for turn one and two while attacking Norway.

      Did you download tripe a or abattlemap?  Because at least for abattlemap you have to scroll to the right to see the West US and scroll down to see the status part of the map.  If you right-click and drag in abattlemap it lets you scroll around the whole map.

      You can download the most popular forum playing program ABattlemap by registering at www.flames-of-europe.de/ then going to their download page. If you’d rather not register, send me a private message with your email and I can pass on the ABattlemap installer by attaching it to an email. Right now, I’m juggling a few different games but another time I might be up for a game.

      Thank you, and I downloaded it now but I can’t see west US and some of the sea zones in the area, i hit view and list units and it says they’re there but my map doesn’t show them, any advice?

      A land unit must use its entire movement allowance to load into and/or unload from a transport, so it can neither move before loading nor after unloading.

    • RE: Ger Sub SZ8 to SZ10 combat first round?

      I say the Sz2 attack is completely necessary, it is a little risky but look at it this way the Russian sub is hits on a 1 so it killing your sub is unlikely, that leaves your sub which will probably miss but with a hit that means the allies lose the only Russian sub they have or absorb the hit and drown by a bomber, if the sub misses You can count on the bomber/fighter to score one hit witch can’t be assigned to the sub, the allies will most likely hit with the BB you lose the sub and then the Bomber/fighter combo will finsh the fleet and if the BB hits again what’s another fighter you can buy one turn 1 and still have 30 IPC witch should be infantry anyways. and if your concern is money if you win you can definantly kill 27 IPCs (BB, Trans) and lose only 16max(fighter and sub if you win) if you lose than its 28 IPCs witch is only 1 more IPC than the U.K could have lost, and with the taking of Egypt the u.ks money is toast. even with a counter on Egypt Germany can take it again turn 2, a parked air force in westE allows the air force to kill any U.S/U.K navy attempt to deadzone Algeria Rd,1.

      If you don’t do the battle your looking at a u.k BB,2destroyers and a Aircraft carrier with possible two fighters on it, and at that point losing your fighters in an attempt to kill their Navy will have to happen since a U.K invasion is a guaranteed to happen sooner or later.

      I would only consider attacking SZ2 if Russia did not non combat its sub there.  1 Sub, 1 BB is too risky to me.  I wana keep my Bomber and Fighters as long as possible with Germany.  Just my opinion.

      I think by Killing the BB first turn it is actually saving the air force since the U.K now needs to build a fleet instead of just invade with the already existing one.

      I know its risky but, the Ger sub in SZ8 is in range of US SZ10.  Since the sub gets the sneak attack, if it hits on the first roll, it will wipe out all 3 boats!  (unless im missing something)  Of course UK has a transport that cant defend at all sitting there, attacking it is what I have been doing.  Hopefully I will get some feed back on this and thanks :)

      I saw that too and I think that even if you kill the cruiser and transports, the U.S is still only 1 turn from rebuilding its Navy and can still be in Algeria turn 2 or 3, your going to lose the sub to the destroyer in sz20 and the bomber and fighter in EastU.S, and leaving the U.K fleet alive hurts germany more in the long run than a U.S Fleet thats sole purpose is africa which is only 2 starting IPCs witch 38IPCs is ok to me but the U.S will spend so much time chasing you in africa and failing in france that taking caucasus by an Infantry push in turn 3/4 is all but inevitable.

      I have one last question about transports and then I think I am good.
      Example: Can a infantry or tank move from west canda 1 space to East load and then be transported all in the same turn, so as a starting move if the sz1 transport is still alive can it on U.K 1 move a tank and Infantry due to the fact that the infantry can move within loading range or does it have to wait a turn to load?  :?

      When you respond to someone’s post, push the “quote” button in the upper right-hand corner rather than the “reply” button.  You can also do them manually using the same codes.

For a transport the rules talk about it’s max capacity and that is clear to me but the way we play is that you MUST have an infantry to be able to load a tank or artillery, is this the case or can you simply just transport one tank without any infantry and be done?

      You can always transport less than the transport’s maxuimum capacity, so loading a single land unit of any type is fine.

      Also for submarines do they get a surprise strike and a main strike (without a destroyer present) or is it just one or the other?

      Subs only fire once per round, so if they get a Surprise Strike they don’t get to fire again later in the round.
