I found the solution. I won’t have time today, but I found an allied strategy that has a good chance of winning the game. It includes Russia building only infantry with 1-2 artillery, slowly retreats to places like Bryansk, Tambov, and when it gets too hot finally to Moscow. British airforce will move after Taranto Raid to Persia, to either help against Japanese Calcutta Crush or fly up to Moscow. In my solo Low Luck games Germany cannot attack Moscow, as they have just a bit more combat factors. Even when Germany pushes towards the Middle East and starts getting like 80 income, they still dont have enough power to take Moscow, and they will finally bleed to death.

@gen-manstein Actually haven’t played with bid in solo games, so I hope that will be an advantage.

@gen-manstein I think he is going to crush me though, but I am continiously testing my Allied strategy, and improving it. I just found out that a particularly axis strategy can hamper my Allied one, so it’s not completely perfect, but in my solo games it almost seems impossible to take Moscow and then also win the game. But I am sure Gargantua has a brilliant Axis strategy that completely crushes my one lol :)

@alex-henseleit I never try to hold Leningrad. I withdraw all my units from Leningrad and withdraw all my units to the south, to Tambov. THis way I can defend Stalingrad and Moscow, and attacking Rostov is going to be hard for Germany

I agree what you guys say. I always didn’t know which one was better, because with turtling you give away all your money, but with counterattacking you risk losing a big stack of units. On a G3 Barbarossa, the Soviets definitely have to counterattack, because of all your units you built up the first three turns. But what should you do on a G1 Barbarossa? You don’t start with a lot of units, so counterattacking is not going to be very effective, or is it?

What’s the best way to defend the Soviet Union?
I know lots of people like to withdraw from every territory en turtle up in Moscow when playing as the Soviet Union, but I saw a video by General Hand Grenade where he told he liked to counter-attack with his forces, and to really have a ‘fight’ against the Germans (which I prefer to do as well). But which one of the two strategies is better? Is there an other way to make it as has hard as possible for the German player? And are things a lot different in Europe 1940, because in that version the Soviets have less money to spend. What is in your opinion the best way to hold Moscow and win as the USSR?
