    • RE: NML 1914 game 13

      @dawgoneit

      Lol that is pretty sad actually. If nobody else wants to, I am willing to play.
      I was just a bit hesitant because it will be my first time playing this and it looks like a daunting game. I didn’t want to mess anything up while playing with veterans :)

      However, if you guys can help me get used to this game, I’d be happy to play.

    • Why is the Eastern Front in G40 so boring?

      In most advanced G40 games, Germany forms a big stack and it slowly marches to Moscow, while the Russians are turtling in Moscow (that’s the best thing they could do, as turtling in Ukraine or Novgorod would be suicide, they will never hold those places) and good counterattacks are limited, as they need to avoid the big German stack. No clever territory taking, no good use of tactical strategy (maybe Italy can-opening but that’s it), it just depends on how much money Germany spends against Russia. However, in Anniversary, it’s quite tricky to take Moscow. You have to plan your buys, consolidate your forces in either North, Center, or South, and you cannot just put your stack right next to Moscow. You need to take their territories, avoid counterattacks, and when you have a good enough force, then the Russians need to turtle. What does G40 misses what Anniversary (and Revised too) have? Tell me what you think, if you agree the G40 Eastern Front doesn’t have a lot of action, and some way to spice the Eastern Front up? More Russian units? More starting units but weaker economy?

    • RE: Classic 2nd edition discussion

      Also I indeed misunderstood you, I thought the bids in A&A functioned as a handicap so that both players win 50% of the time, but it was to make sure the game is balanced and that only skill influences the outcome of the game.

    • RE: Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion

      Also, I wanted to say you made a very clear and exact rulebook. I have seen so many rulebooks with loopholes and unclear things, but you point out and explain almost everything (and with almost I mean only 1 or 2 things) so you really did a good job making the rulebook! There are some spell errors though:

      defence (defense) - several times
      concurred (conquered) - one time

      I don’t remember exactly which pages the spell errors were stated though.

    • Question about aircraft attack from carriers

      See the following situation.

      41240b4a-93fe-45c6-aa81-e27150d22df4-image.png

      It’s the American turn in a G40 variant where the Germans are allied with the French.

      My question is: can the American aircraft in SZ 91 attack the German ships in SZ 111? It’s three spaces away so the only spot for them to land is in SZ 110 on a carrier, but there is an enemy destroyer there that needs to be killed. Does that combat-depending factor make this move illegal?

      Note that there is no friendly naval base in SZ 91 so the American ships cannot go to SZ 119.

    • RE: L25 Classic VictoryFirst (Axis) vs. The_Good_Captain (Allies)

      @gamerman01 Thanks!

      @The_Good_Captain In that case we can play without ICs. That means the necessary bid for a balanced game becomes zero?

    • RE: Global 1943 Expansion, Revised

      @superbattleshipyamato123
      Lol, as the captain said, I think his 1943 version would be better. It takes a long time to learn all the rules but it also takes a long time to learn OOB 1940. In my opinion OOB has mostly a few paths that lead to a victory in a very advanced game between two experienced players. In the house rule expansion rule set, there are unendless paths that lead to Victory. There is no ‘best’ strategy, just tactical skill levels. An OOB 1943 setup would probably be more limited to starting units and production levels. I would prefer to play the version by Captain. It is not 100% historically accurate, as Novgorod and Scotland are/were taken, but he does the best job I’ve ever seen of simulating world war 2 on a G40 board.

      So Witt is going to take over Turkey? I guess Commies will then be under the rule of Entek?

      For the sake of clarity, we play with:

      • Russia Restricted
      • Tech from turn 4
      • No Industrial Complexes
      • No invasion of neutrals
      • Can place units in enemy sea zones.

    • RE: World at War game 18

      @Elrood

      Well, I am having the same issue. I also use Gmail, and I used to receive all of the dice emails. As it is also my personal email, I didn’t like how my inbox got flooded so one day I made them go directly to spam. From then on, all MARTI emails went to my spam folder. After I came back from a long break, only sometimes I see like one dice email in my spam now and then.

      So yeah, I don’t really know if it’s a Gmail thing or a MARTI thing. I always thought it was a MARTI thing because I didn’t change anything to my Gmail settings.

      On the other hand, I never really look at those dice emails anyway because I assume my opponent plays fairly.

    • How to change name of thread

      Is there any way to change the name of threads manually? If not, is there someone who could do that for me? I created a thread called “G40 House Rule Expansion Game Results” in the “House Rules” section, and I would like to have it renamed to:

      “G40 House Rules Expansion TripleA Games Archive”

      Edit: See, there is already the mistake, it should be “House Rules” not “House Rule” 😂

      If it’s not supported then I think it would be a good idea to do it if possible. It’s common for people to slip up (and especially for me 😀). Especially in the “Play Boardgames” section this is quite annoying, where the player names and information about the games are put in the title, and if you make a mistake there is no good way to correct it.

      Anyway that’s just my thought…

      @barnee Japan doesn’t get extra income at the start of the game or something. If they conquer or lose an island with a changed IPC value their income increases/decreases with the new amount. Same as for other powers. At least that’s what I think is the way.

    • RE: L25 Classic VictoryFirst (Axis) vs. leemorrison (Allies)

      Hi Lee, posting the start of my Japanese turn here. I spend all my money on tech and was lucky enough to get 5 hits, however 4 techs are activated, I wonder why that is.

      @The_Good_Captain I thought when rolling for which tech you get, if you roll the same number you get to roll again? So should I be getting 5 techs here or is the 4 correct?
