      Major Bug Fixes since 1.6:

      Fixing bug in Battle Calculator where damaged units got turned into healthy units before each battle was calculated. Fixed issue with null pointer resulting from mechanized inf tech. Many many more bug fixes

      Major New Engine Features:

      Greatly improved quality of Zoom. Added a menu option to have territory borders drawn a second time on top of the map. Make savegames for long games, games with many players, and games with many battles, much smaller, and improved memory efficiency in-game. Created an option in Play-By-Forum and Play-By-Email to send the move summary after the combat move phase, in addition to the summary at the end of the turn. This is to help with OOL and scrambling orders. Allowing additional nations to share the cost of technology, and creating a good user interface that dynamically adjusts to show how much is being paid by each nation. Created edit option to add technology to a player. Created edit option to remove technology from a player, except that shipyards and industrial technology can never be removed, and any technology that uses triggers is pointless to remove and removing will not undo their effect. Created edit option to change the amount of unit hitpoint damage on any and all units which can take more than 1 point of hit damage. Created edit option to change the amount of unit bombing damage on any and all units which can be damaged by bombing. Making scramble dialog non-modal so that the user can move the map around before choosing what to scramble. Note that saving the game while in the middle of scrambling can result in weird effects, so it is not recommended. Making kamikaze and interceptor dialogs non-modal so user can move around map while choosing. Again, saving during the dialog then reloading might have odd effects.

      Major New Game XML Features:

      Created new game option, “Remove All Tech Tokens At End Of Turn”, which will remove tech tokens after each tech roll. Adding methods to ensure that any power sharing technology (like British to UK Pacific) will still roll for war bonds even if its capital is taken, so long as the shared power is not able to have the warbonds technologies. Created new game option, “Kamikaze Suicide Attacks Only Where Battles Are”, and implemented it. Created new game option, “Submarines Prevent Unescorted Amphibious Assaults”, that prevent unescorted transports from conducting amphibious assaults.

      Major Map/Game changes:
      Fixing more bugs in Global 1940 and getting it closer to the real thing.
      Adding a new 5 player FFA map for Napoleonic Empires.

      Major Changes since 1.5.2.1:

      Fixed problems with Edit mode. Fixed problems with Scrambling not working. Fixed several fatal errors, and many many more bug fixes. Disallowed Bombardment from any sea zone that had a kamikaze suicide attack. Allowed loading of transports in Sea Zones where all enemies just became hostile this turn due to politics. Allowed downloading of multiple maps/games in one go, by holding down CTRL while selecting maps in the “Download Games” dialog screen, and out of date maps will show up in bold, and maps up-to-date will show in italics. Created new game option, “Subs Can End NonCombat Move With Enemies”, which allows submarines to end their noncombat movement in a sea zone containing any enemy units. Created new game option, “Convoy Blockades Roll Dice For Cost”, which will now allow dice to be thrown for all blockade damage. Completely creating technologies for Global 1940, including Paratroopers and Improved Mechanized Infantry.

      If you find bugs, I really can’t do much about them unless you upload an autosave.  It will save me tons of time if you give me an autosave / or save game made sometime before the bug occured.  Also mention what map the bug occurred on, and copy and paste the error if there is one.

      Your save games are in a folder right next to where the maps are:

      (Windows XP)  C:\Documents and Settings\userName\triplea
      (Windows 7)  C:\Users\userName\triplea
      (Mac)  /home/user/documents/triplea/
      (Linux)  /home/user/triplea/

      [They are NOT in program files.  They are in a folder in your user account.]

      When you are making a post, click the “More Options” button.  From there click “Upload a file”.
      Simply upload the autosave, or other save, to your post.

      I really really appreciate savegames, it makes my life a lot easier.

      Please also describe what happened before the bug occurred, and copy and paste the full error message, and of course say what map and what version of TripleA you were using!

      But what do you think of making it a 6player game instead of 5? Maybe a Variant?

      Also I was thinking, do you know the 270BC map? With enough tweaking it might be a very interesting free for all game! Don’t you think so?

      About the Ottoman Navy: You may say he has 6ships in eastern med but the TUV is very different with France/UK. I don’t think Ottomans should be in position to take Rome really, but they should be able to defend their convoy.

      That’s a pretty noticeable improvement in scale quality. I assume you’re now using some sort of bicubic or sin based filtering in your scaling algo? Also, a suggestion would be to allow more than 100% zoom.

      Actually, I made some code contributions to TripleA back in the old days.  Basically responded to a post like this and fixed the map rendering so it would work on Macs.  Long time ago though…

      Changes for Global 1940 version 3.0

      Added all technology to Global 1940. Allowed paratroopers to be moved in a second combat movement phase. Made bonus for Mech Infantry work correctly. Made Rockets go 4 spaces and not fly over neutrals. Allowed UK_Pacific to share the cost of researching technology. Made British share all technology with UK_Pacific. Allowed Convoy Blockades to roll dice (you can turn this off in game options). Allowed Low Luck for Strategy Bombing and Rockets to be set again. Stopped British air units from dying if UK_Pacific was building a factory under them. Forced Tactical Bombers to only be able to target airfields and harbours. Allowed Submarines to enter any sea zone during non-combat, but end movement if there is an enemy Destroyer present.

      (and a TON more fixes that were fixed in the TripleA engine [not the map files])

      Clarifications about TripleA 1.6 and TripleA 1.5.2.1, and using both at the same time:

      Can you play TripleA 1.5.2.1 savegames on TripleA 1.6?
      Savegames are incompatible due to the new features i’ve added to 1.6
      Keep 1.5.2.1, and download 1.6, and you can run them both at the same time (use 1.5.2.1 for your 1.5.2.1 savegames, and 1.6 for your 1.6 savegames)
      The only time savegames are ever compatible, is if it is the 4th digit that is the only digit that changes.
      Example: 1.5.2.1 to 1.5.2.2 would be compatible
      while 1.5.2.1 to 1.6 is not compatible

      Can someone with TripleA 1.5.2.1 play against someone using TripleA 1.6?
      No, you must both be using the same version.  
      But don’t worry, you can have BOTH versions on your computer.  
      When you want to continue your ongoing game that you started with 1.5.2.1, then use 1.5.2.1.
      When you want to start a new game with someone who also has 1.6, then use 1.6

      If I download Global version 3.0, will I not be able to continue or start games using TripleA 1.5.2.1?
      No.
      Global version 3.0 contains both 3.0 and 2.9, that way you can use 3.0 with TripleA 1.6, and use 2.9 with TripleA 1.5.2.1
      The 2.9 version is named “World War II Global 1940 Alpha”
      The 3.0 version is named “World War II Global 1940 Alpha Future”
      You will see both of them in your list when you are using TripleA 1.6,
      And you will only see the 2.9 version in your list when you are using TripleA 1.5.2.1

      I’m getting the 404 error message quite often when browsing the forum.  I’d say once or twice per day.  After it occurs, it takes about 15 - 30 minutes before the site works again at all.

      Just curious if you are over-capacity on your bandwidth, or if something else is going wrong.

      It’s actually the politics (reading you guys’ FFA game thread) that attracted me in the first place.  Well, that and Fucioneta’s getting into character  :-D

      Plus it’d be nice to play a game where if I make a mistake or get diced, it won’t necessarily matter because everyone’s (ideally) trying to maintain a balance of power.

      I’ll start a separate recruitment thread just so I don’t bug everyone.

      (Veqryn, I would certainly try out the fixed alliance version too, but it would also have to start after June 12th)

      3. Added some things to the game notes about what is NOT covered by the engine (and therefore, what you need to manually keep in mind):

      Rules the engine does not do, but you must follow:

      Do not allow blitzing or movement through Friendly Neutrals. Air units may not land in or move through Friendly Neutrals, including the same turn they are captured. Friendly Neutrals can not be ‘captured’ with an AA Gun, only by land units with an attack power. Air units may not move through Unfriendly Neutrals unless they are attacking them. Air units may not move through a Neutral territory IF that neutral territory had been attacked on some previous turn by some power (because technically that neutral stops being neutral at that point, and joins the other side). If UK Pacific captures Japan, the money goes to UK Pacific, even if UK Pacific’s capital is occupied. Do not allow USA movement to end in any Sea Zone that touches a Japanese owned territory (Sea Zones 6, 17, 19, 20, 22, 32, 33, 34, 36, and 37). You must place all units you purchased if you are able to, or as many as you can. Any units not placed get refunded to you (triplea instead carries them over to the next turn). The victory conditions must be held for a full continuous round after they are achieved (so for example if Italy takes Egypt as the 8th European VC, then the Axis must hold 8 VCs continuously until Italy’s next turn).

      Lastly, I wish to introduce 2 things that everyone may not know already exist within the TripleA engine:

      1. Edit Move Units
      To “Edit Move”, you must first be in some movement phase.  
      Then turn on Edit Mode.
      On the right side you see some tabs: “Action” tab, and “Edit” tab, and other tabs.
      When you turn on edit mode, you switch automatically to the ‘edit tab’.  However you can still perform ‘actions’ during edit mode, and edit mode changes those actions to reflect that you are in edit mode.
      So now click on the “Action” tab, and then move the units just like you would normally.
      Because you are in edit mode, the movement validation is turned off, so this allows you to basically move units where-ever you want, including moving enemy units, or even making an enemy attack, or loading transports, etc.

      2. Game Comments (aka: a way to tell what fighter is on what carrier, among other things)
      Click “View” menu, then select “Show Comment Log”
      From there, you can type out and add comments to the game.  The comments will go into the History Panel, and be permanently added to the game save.
      Things you could possibly use this for: telling your opponent which fighter is on which carrier, when you have a mixed-nation fleet.

      Hey Vegryn concerning the reprint I personally think you are going to get it. And I think you will get it with the new updated sculpts that are going to be in 41 and 42. I would expect them late in the year though. September or October just a guess. The fact that they got all the pieces being made now would make me believe they will do it now. The map and rules I think wouldn’t be to hard to make.  We shall see.

      Hi all,

      I’m back in the states for the holidays, and would just love to play a game of A&A.  Due to being in Shanghai, I haven’t been able to play a (real life) game in 14 months.

      I own A&A 50th Anniversary Edition, and also A&A Pacific 1940.  I live in Boulder, and can borrow a car if you are in a city close by.

      I would like to any version of A&A, from Revised all the way to Global.

      This is a tournament using NEW WORLD ORDER Small’s mod,

      Tournament money donated by ‘Railroad’, a big fan of the map.

      Games must be played using TripleA game engine

      The tournament is scheduled to begin 1 September. The STRICT deadline for each game being the end of the month, preferably finish way sooner. Any player that has not submitted a result in time or atleast emailed Smalls to explain why unable to finish in time, will DEFINITELY get a loss for that game. Rounds will overlap, once first 2 games complete Smalls will assign them round 2 opponents.

      NWO Smalls map, again games must be played using DICE not LL, and railroad wants Smalls to compete in it too. Eliminated from the tournament after 2 losses. No bonus game vs Smalls at the end like last tournament. Games to be played with the lobby. PBEM/Forum is ONLY ok if both players agree to it. Most know when they should concede, but you get auto win if get both double opponents production and have more than 1000 TUV higher than opponent. Smalls has already taken into account that production and TUV values are not always entirely accurate.

      If game isn’t finished by the timelimit, the judges panel will look over the saved file and decide the winner, with consideration given to availability of the players. Anyone not wanting to play in the tournament, and Smalls has played vs before, please advise Smalls if you willing to be on the panel.

      I believe the map is balanced, but there will be a bid regardless. Normal bidding process used in other nwo tourny. Highest bid gets axis, negative bids fine. 1 unit per territory, can only place if same nation already has units there and if on land owned by that same nation. Person on left of draw page bids first. Bids can be in .5 increments ie elite costs 3.5. But 2.5 or 1.5 or 0.5 is not allowed. Players may withdraw from the tournament after any game, just email Smalls, their names will appear in red in the draw.

      Winnings preferably sent with paypal, but will send bank cheque etc if you prefer. Use the join link to join, and until the tournament starts you can see the current entrants on the draw page.
