I am sure when the Second Edition comes out, many of these concerns will be dealt with, especially with a more streamlined and clearer rule book.

If not by Avalon Hill, then maybe Eagle Games. They did a good job, with Conquest of the Empire( I basically stuck with the old set of rules), and, Shogun(kept most of the old rules).

Along with any new minis/collectable minis.

As for a new follow up game, for example like Jutland, or, Lawerence’s adventures in the Mid-East , is pure speculation.

My best bet would be a tie in game like Axis & Allies 1915 and The War of the Worlds(H.G. Wells Novel could be given as a treat inside the game box).

Alas any reissued game would probably have those DAMX Zombie theme to it, thanks, Pellulo

Pfft what? If Russia is always falling on turn 3 you might just need to rework your strategy (don’t let the AI play as Russia). I’ve had games where Russia not only survived by thrived, pushing Germany back to the gates or Berlin. It’s all about knowing the ground, the battles to fight and those not to fight. Also, send more fighters from UK :D

yeah invade Norway with your 3 infantry in Karelia and then land your spitfires from England there lol. But i do find that i have to abandon Caucus, i’ve found a good strat is too attack the Ukraine and west Russia, then Germany has to send more troops to the eastern Front. And you should be planning an invasion of Europe to thin the Germans. Also if you have a few fighters and a bomber in Finland/Norway then you can directly bomb Germany.

I don’t have AAP 1940 SE, but I’ve been looking at the pdf of the SE edition to see what changed from the first.  Looking at the AAP SE changes vs. Global SE I notice the UK Pacific starting income is 16 rather than 17 for Global.  This is due to the transfer of West India’s income to the Pacific and the North American UK territories are part of the European UK.  (You probably already have this correctly entered for your map, but it is worth noting for those who are trying to reconstruct AAP 1940 SE using a first edition box and the Europe Global SE rules/box.)

Well, I became tired of this game. Made stupid mistakes like letting him grab Rome instead of blocking the access for one round. In addition to that I bought bad stuff without a thought.

This was a great learning experience, never guessed I would survive this long, especially when half-way through the game I saw that I can build encampments without a general.

Actually there was so much fail in my play that I am very pissed.

Anyway, it was an epic fight. Too bad that I can’t stand anymore the mistakes I made. I just want to forget this game xD

the only way i would continue this game is if you can play either live, or EVERY day 1 turn pbf. 1 day not posting by you means you give up the game

and honestly i think you cant do either of the 2 so thanks for the waste of time

Don’t think about the actual game, and just think about the BOX.  If the BOX is the same - and the title, and it’s categorized as a first or second edition, then it IS the same -version-, by definition.

Just like ALL editions of Classic are lumped into one category, so should Spring 1942 be. And so should Global be.

They are loosely the same map/base game, with adjusted rules.

Also, if you’re going to lump revised in with 1942, that’s the same as lumping all of them in with Classic?  Roughly similar map, same powers, same concept. Crazy!

As long as we’re talking battle calc, how about allowing the user to specify OOL?  Sometimes you want that bomber on defense to be taken last and see how much that changes your chances….

Or to hold subs back and not lose them first.  Can be very significant when you have super subs, like I often do.  :-)

Meanwhile, I will continue to rely on my more detailed and versatile calculator, even though it’s designed for AA50.  It still works better for Global than the TripleA calc, even though it does carriers different and doesn’t have tacs

Dice stats settle luck debates.

I’d like to see the paratroopers rule go towards the more familiar one where you tie up a bomber and you have to drop the paratrooper in the first territory you get too with a defending unit - cant be dropped on VCs.

but yes, my understanding is the same as Veqryn’s currently.

PS: No, I thik if you have 14 bombers, you should be able to send 14 paratroopers and do all paratrooper attacks too.  I’ve gotten paratroopers in the game and had them become the truning point between me losing and me going on to win.    Nothing like picking up 3 IPC because it’s undefended useless land.
