    • RE: Hate the cardboard factory/airfield/naval base counters? ANSWER INSIDE!

      @Variable:

      @Brain:

      They are still chits.

      That’s what holding me up too. Plus, after you buy all the tiles you would need for P40 and E40, you’re in for about $60. At least $40 if you use old ICs. A lot of money for tiles…

      I have revised my opinion of this after a few more games. I can’t get my nail under the thin little piece of cardboard that game with the game. At least I could pick up these tiles without a pet hair remover…

    • RE: Rules question: ANZAC/British

      That’s what I was assuming but for some reason it seemed odd. Compared to the old AAP, it gives the Brits/ANZAC a bit of an advantage over the Japanese.

      Record response time BTW! Thank you.

    • Rules question: ANZAC/British

      On the British turn, Celebes was captured back from the Japanese. On the Anzac turn, can they land fighters there? Not sure if it had to be held for a complete turn or just from the start of the ANZAC turn.

    • RE: Axis and Allies Pacific and Europe: 1940 House Rules

      I’m liking the retreat rules IL. It helps boost the benefits of building MInf. I’m sure we’ll have more reason in E40, but I want to experiment with this stuff now.

      To some of the others RE: airbases - The 5th MP for fighters is very handy. Everyone seems to think it’s no good without a 6th because you can’t go 3 out and 3 back. Try going 3 out and 2 back (especially as Japan!) Very handy for keeping the Americans at bay.

      Also love the island airbase rule (needed to land on island).

    • RE: Trouble with Russian Strategy

      My wife pulled the Russia R1 offensive on me as Germany and it works! If you get OK dice rolls and commit all your forces, Germany ends up defensive for about 3 turns which is huge.

    • RE: Cruisers?

      Here’s something that occurred to me in the middle of the night…

      How about choosing how a cruiser will fight in a battle. Either as an AA gun ( 1 die at each aircraft no matter how many CC) OR fight as normal 3/3. That way if you had a fleet with 2 CCs, you could designate a max of 1 CC to air cover and the other would fight as normal. The CC on air cover could still be designated as a casualty of course.

      I know this is not necessarily historical but I would like to see something done about the air vs. navy battles and using the CC for this gives it a very important niche. However, due to this important niche, the price should remain 12 ( 2 x an AA gun ).

      @skinny1:

      Try this:

      http://foldinggametable.blogspot.com/

      This guy made a folding game table but also used magnets for the fighters and carriers.

      Hadn’t seen that in a while… Man that guy is crazy. I’m so jealous  :-D

    • RE: Cruisers?

      @Vareel:

      I still think let them raid 2 IPCs a turn and let them move 3 movement regardless of a naval base presence (meaning they will not move 4 from a naval base, still just 3).

      Although I agree with most of the reasons cruisers should be left alone the way they are, I could see future rules including something along these lines. As we’ve mentioned, some under utilized units tend to go through minor changes until they are used more. The tank is the best example of this.

    • RE: Hate the cardboard factory/airfield/naval base counters? ANSWER INSIDE!

      @Variable:

      Yah, great find. I emailed asking if they could do other colors on these. I will let you know what they say.

      And here’s the answer already. Sounds worth it to me…

      “Yep, other colors is no problem, you can order them as custom items. Custom versions of the Airfield are $8.39, and the Naval Base customs would be $6.99 per set. Just let me know what colors you need, and I’ll set you up with the links to order them online.”

      Here’s the question:

      I was thinking of going solid black with the etching in white. Basically the reverse of the cardboard. It would better match the other white pieces of the game. What does everyone else think?

    • RE: AA50 Themed Dice Towers

      I would like to see a two tower set, one for Axis, one for Allies. If you can shrink the graphics to fit three on each, that would be cool.

      That does look like a great game. Definitely need play reports! +1 (again) to you for finding another great game!

      Actually, I found the game.  But no biggy, as long as it gets out there and someone can give us a review or two…

      @chuckcarey:

      I just orderd aap40…. why after reading all these emails I now don’t feel very good about it :x

      You should feel just fine about it. It’s still a great game and the map and rules alone are worth owning. Like the others have said, there are a few QC issues that need resolution but if you own any of the other games, especially AA50, you can solve many of them yourself.

      @allboxcars:

      @xzorn:

      Casualties done by fighters should be taken by other aircraft first, instead of ground units. After air superiority is established, strafing may commence.

      At what point would you say air superiority has been established?

      When all aircraft of one side are destroyed. I guess you would have to fire air-air between first-strike and regular combat.
