      @bcguitars:

      Unbelievable, Krieg!  What did you have to do, threaten to unleash a Juzam Djinn on them??  ;)

      I don’t even know what that means but YES, THANK YOU KRIEG for this great news! I know you have just made a lot of people gain confidence in WOTC again.

      How’s this project coming? Not rushing, just keeping the interest going. I wish I could buy you a couple of beers for the hard work!

    • RE: Submarine FAQ Question

      Yes, it seems to give the sub a similar treatment to AA guns. Every time a tpt goes by, it get a shot. Just like every time an AA is attacked by air, it shoots. Theoretically, a sub could fire numerous times in one complete round of play.

      @Imperious:

      8.5 x 11 Glossy/Matte $15
      11 x 17 Glossy/Matte $25
      11 x 17 Pearl $30
      13 x 19 Glossy/Matte $35
      Water color paper acid free $40
      Velvet fine art paper 100% rag acid
      not unless i was the size of an infant with little plastic pieces about 1/5 the normal size.
      Besides too many roundels spoils the map.

      Is it possible to enlarge that map?

      The quality gets bad fast. I tried. If you could get a hi-res file of it that could be blown up. The one on the site isn’t even a meg.

      @WILD:

      I will hold back any further judgment until I see what Krieghund puts together. He does have a way with words, and should get a raise if he pulls this one off.

      Second that.

      Please keep subs simple. They shouldn’t rule the sea (that much).

      @TwistedAries:

      If you are looking on what to use for storage for your game pieces then you should definitely check out Field Marshal Games’ website.  Now it’s more expensive but I think it’s an absolutely AWESOME addition that is a must have for Axis & Allies.

      Here is a link to their new Field Marshal Ammo Box Combat Chest.

      Yep, already drooled over it like it was this month’s centerfold. Also like this month’s centerfold, my wife gave a disapproving look at the price.

      Yep, I’d have to say I like 'em. Still too much money though. Think they would sell the whole kit as a discounted bundle? Maybe if we got enough people to sign off on a group buy.

      Just got this on the PS3. Loving every minute of sniper action.

      Can we get a private group together on this sometime? It would be fun to play against a bunch of people I “know”.

    • RE: Storage, and Air & Naval Base solutions

      @Texas:

      On the problem of air and naval bases, I decided to use chips.  I also use them for production centers and I have AA guns from previous games.  I used extra chip colors that I had.  One or two brown chips is a min or max production center.  Pink is a sea base and white is an air base.  Top it off with an AA gun if applicable.  These chips don’t match or stack with the gray and red, and are kept as a completely separate stack.  I use a memory aid of:  salmon is pink so pink is a sea base; clouds are white, so that’s an air base; brown is like an oil color for fueling a production center.  Now those stacks of chips seem natural to me to be able to instantly interpret what they mean.

      The idea is to get rid of “chips” for these. Your system makes IDing these things more complicated than the original versions. Most of us want some sort of 3D unit to represent this. I will say that poker chips are easier to pick up than the thin cardboard they gave us.

      @JasonW:

      I will definitely buy a set of these pieces. Is there a link to a pre-order page for these?

      Not yet. They will be posting that info on this thread when it’s available. Probably not until at least summer though. Also, if you buy something from them before then (the dice are awesome), sign up for the email updates. They will send you info on it then as well.

      LOVE the look of the new site guys! Great job. One suggestion… Can you make it so if the mouse is over a product, it doesn’t scroll to the next pic. I like to stare for long periods of time at your dice, towers, games, etc. and the pics change too fast. Thanks.

    • RE: Submarine FAQ Question

      @moompix:

      @Krieghund:

      OK, we’re taking this thing in a different direction:

      Q.  Submarines can attack transports that move through their sea zone “unaccompanied by surface warships”.  Under exactly what conditions do surface warships prevent sub attacks on moving transports?
      A.  In order to prevent sub attacks, a transport or group of transports must make its entire move accompanied by a specific surface warship or group of surface warships.

      So, surface warships starting in the sea zone with a sub, and staying there, don’t prevent the attacks.

      The attacks are not prevented, if a transport moves to a sea zone containing a surface warship, and then they both move into the sub’s sea zone.

      The attacks are prevented, if a surface warship moves to a sea zone containing a transport, and then they both move into the sub’s sea zone?

      The transport has to make its entire move with the warship, but the warship doesn’t have to make its entire move with the transport.

      That would be my interpretation as well. I like it. Nice, simple, concise. Great work guys!

      I just mounted some corrected setup charts that someone else made but I like the look of your work better. I say go through with the project even if I don’t end up using it.

      Awesome stuff Bob!

    • RE: Submarine FAQ Question

      There simply aren’t enough rules making subs ridiculously complex enough… Sorry guys, but there are 5 times the rules for a 6 IPC unit than for any other unit in the game. I’m all for simplifying sub rules while still giving Germany an advantage for buying them in the Atlantic. I like the convoy zone rules and the secret attack rules. Anything else may be beyond the scale of A&A global.

    • RE: Lets Talk Paratroopers!

      @Variable:

      I’ll go ahead and add my version of the Paratrooper Rule:

      Cost 4, Att 1, Def 1. Delivery method: Your choice, whatever you like best. LH rule is good (bomber drops one into first hostile zone), or many of the others here are great as well.

      Here’s the kicker: Special ability- Match either 1-1 or 1-2 (haven’t play tested enough yet to decide) with DEFENDER’S UNITS, reducing the defender unit by 1 Def.

      Example: 1 tank and 1 paratrooper attack 1 infantry and 1 tank. Attackers = 1@3 (tank) and 1@1 (para). Defenders = 1@2 (inf) and 1@2 (tank) instead of 1@3 (tank). If you decide to match 1-2, then defender would be 1@1 (inf) and 1@2 (tank)

      Thoughts?

      After going back over this a few times, I’ve decided on 1-2 matching. First, the delivery method is a bit complex and expensive. 2, with bases having their own air defense now there is more tactical AA fire on the board. 3, at a 1/1/1/4 unit, they need 2 “points” more to be worth it. So match 'em 1-2 if you use my rules.
