These sound like great house rules! I think for most, it wouldn’t drastically change gameplay. But it would help prevent super stacks and keep things looking a bit more historical, if you’re into that. I will use these.

Clearly inflammatory statements should be ignored. Like no religion or politics at the dinner table.

RE: Accurate Miniature Equivalents for Custom Painting your 1940 E&P
@Brain:
Oh yeah I am totally looking forward to the Americans. I can’t wait to see the paint schemes for the various pieces.
It’s a bummer he doesn’t have any Hellcats to go with the Corsairs. That would look awesome! I always keep my P-38s in the European theater and Hellcats in the Pacific. I really want to paint my stuff now…

The Japanese pieces look great. Can’t wait to see your prices.
I would have to say the carriers are my favorite.

Seems this should provide enough budgetary options for most people. I know I can’t afford your work no matter how reasonable, but I know a lot of people here have the budget and desire for this. Are you thinking between $200 - $1000 depending on options chosen?

All I can say is… :-o

RE: New turn sequence idea for AA
I’ve wanted to move income collection to the beginning of each player’s turn for a long time. Not only does this prevent double collection, but would actually make “contested” areas worth nothing. Much better IMO.

RE: Replacements for cardboard counters in the 1940's series
Airbase / Naval base: How about a flat square or rectangle a bit thicker than the infantry base. Size would be maybe 5/8" or so. Have an airplane / ship silhouette counter-sunk into the square. That way ships / planes can be stacked on top. Color would be the grey of the AA50 ICs.
As for major/minor: I like the original ICs for major. If remove a smoke stack and reduce the size by a third for the minor, that would be ok.
Sorry, not very inventive stuff here but I would like to retain the original look and feel of the game parts.

RE: Re: Field Marshal Games Pieces Project Discussion thread
Any news on when Italy’s going to be available?
Errrr… I’m waiting IMPATIENTLY for an update from the sculptor and factory.
While you’re waiting, could you answer this if possible?:
FMG- The unit list in the update thread seems a bit out of date with the other things that have been talked about here. Can you list the unit types that will now be included with each army set? Here’s what I remember:
Infantry 1
Infantry 2
Commander
Mech Inf (half track)
Artillery
Tank 1
Tank 2
Fighter
Tac Bomber
Bomber
Carrier
Battleship
Cruiser
Destroyer
Sub
Transport
Bunker/Blockhouse -
RE: Replacements for cardboard counters in the 1940's series
Amen to that. Even if the bases/installations are flat, at least they’ll be plastic. I tried giving my monopoly houses two coats of grey but it just scratches off too easily. Should have primed them first I think…
Also, put a top coat on. Best is to use a satin finish as it retains the best “plastic look”. Otherwise, a dusting of gloss spray will help. Just ask for “clear coat” at the hobby store.

RE: Getting extra pieces?
Do i still need to email them about a new battle strip?
yes, and mail them the battle strip that came with the game
I don’t think this part is necessary, is it? I thought the email was enough.

RE: Need a place to buy/sell/trade boardgame pieces
Would also be cool if there was just a “Market Place” with a cool name like “The Depot” or something.
Were users could trade games/parts. Sell games/parts and sponsors could post product listings :-D rather than have to put them in other places?
These are popular sections of other game sites like ConSimWorld, BGG and ForuMINI.
That’s basically what I was getting at.

RE: Need Clarification on Declaring War
First, you should read all the new errata and FAQs concerning this. It has changed considerably from the out-of-box rules. All of this was changed by the game designers so it is official. It is stickied at the top of this forum. After that, post any questions you may have.
Enjoy your game!

RE: Bob_A_Mickelson's Complete AAP40 Charts and Aids [1st Ed.]
Hi Bob,
I didn’t mean to imply that you would profit from this. This place is populated by the most good natured people I have come across, ever. I think I speak for everyone when I say “we appreciate all the time, effort, and expense that goes into the favors people do here”. I just thought it would be cool if we could buy your software so we can all “profit” from your work and attempt to repay you for all the help you will undoubtedly continue to provide us.
On a side note: I wish we could ALL donate like $1 to the Site Server Fund. We need more power!

RE: Crazy board idea…
I don’t think #2 would be worth it even if you did get it to work. I’ve tried this kind of thing in the past and learned that not only is it tough to find appropriate magnets, but magnets are rather expensive.
#1 seems as though it would work. But it would take quite a while to “pick-up and set-up” the game between sessions. Tough call.
I have a 1 year old and two cats and no extra room to put my setup game in, so I know your problem well. My solution has been this so far:
Put the game map on a big piece of foam-core board. Nice and thick so there is no moving. Cardboard works in a pinch. Then I leave it setup and move it under the couch between sessions. I have scoped out the top of the fridge before too, but the cats took that one out of the equation. If need be, put a couple pillows in front of the couch to protect it. Not ideal, but works for a couple days at a time.

@Brain:
Well is this going to be the place where people buy and sell wargames in this site?
I guess we could use this thread for now…

RE: Bob_A_Mickelson's Complete AAP40 Charts and Aids [1st Ed.]
I have corrected the charts but am currently unable to export the images due to technical difficulties. I will need to repurchase some new software to do that. Otherwise the text in the images always turn out blurry. That means that all of you guys will need to wait two more weeks. Sorry for the delay.
Anything we can do to help? No reason for this to take over your life and your pocket book.

Bump for help on this. I would really like to do this for all the people here that have helped me.

RE: Accurate Miniature Equivalents for Custom Painting your 1940 E&P
miniart.com, seems to be available
Actually it’s been taken. Though I’m still up to new suggestions, I just registered: warpieces.com. What do you guys think?
Sounds good to me! I searched a few others that seemed to fit you but they were all taken. Maybe “allworkforyourplay.com”? It’s long but goes with the theme… :-D
