SO ANYWAYS……
How’s that table coming? Sure looks great. Who else is building tables out there? I’m sure we’d all like some pics to drool over. Any more “command centers”? I may be moving to a house soon with a 3rd bedroom I can convert :-D :evil:
Like the others have said, fantastic work guys! But now you’re giving me ideas… that’s always dangerous. Hmm, I have a garage, a saw, could get some lumber…
carefull. last time i got an insperation it turned out …well… :evil:. a dice tower that is made of foam board that is riged. a trap door takes the normal dice and riged dice stored in a second container are realeced from in side :evil:
Why would you take all the fun out of a game of chance? Do you bet on A&A?
Ask Imperious Leader about his Great War game. It uses A&A type mechanics but is a bit more complex. I’ve been looking to revise the rules a bit for it for simplification, but I need to playtest my ideas a bit more.

How do the neutrals and techs work in east and west.
I’m thinking of buying this and would like to know the answer to these questions.

Try PMing IL.

Allwork your set is finished if I’m not mistaken. Are you working on a price.
He hasn’t done the Brits for India yet to complete the P40 set. Plus, he’s painted some extra pieces outside the P40 set like the US trucks.
Those painted units are AWESOME!!! :-o
Great job Allworkandnoclay!
As well as Variable for some wicked work on his units as well.
Thanks guys!
Thanks for the props! I will let you all in on a new secret… I’ve started painting BotB! Starting with US, then the few Brit troops, and ending with zee Germans. I will keep everyone up to date with a thread in the BotB forum.
Yes, but who out of all the game stores put their money back in to try enhance the Axis and Allies experience and gets involve in the Axis and Allies community? I can only think of one, Field Marshal Games! [Combat Dice(Awesome), Ammo box(Wicked), Combat Units(Can’t wait), Dice tray and towers(Sweet).]
…which is why I said if you want to support someone else… I just wanted to get the info out there so we all know everything there is to know, you know? :wink:
For me, due to shipping, there was a big difference in price. But since it’s not the same for everyone, we can now make informed decisions on it.
Just a heads up. Not takings sides or telling anyone where they should buy there stuff.
But- Coolstuffinc.com has the pre-order set up for E40 at $59.99. $100 worth of stuff gets you free shipping. Or, you could support someone else.

@Brain:
What colors would you use to match the standard Axis and Allies game piece colors?
I just painted on a few spare pieces until I found a good match.
What colors were they?
The name will depend on the brand of paint. Use the above site that AllWork gave us to color match the paints at the store.
@Brain:
Does anybody know how to go about mounting large game boards?
Here’s how I did mine:
1. Print out the map and then decide how big you want each piece to be (for storage) and cut the map into pieces.
2. Get some black 1/4" thick foam core boards at the art supply store.
3. Buy some spray adhesive for paper and photos. 3M makes good stuff, also at art supply or craft store.
4. Spray the board, wait about a minute to let the glue dry a little. Then lay the map section down and smooth it out gently with credit card. You have about 4 minutes to do this.
5. After all map sections are glued to the foam boards, let it dry overnight in a warm dry place to avoid wrinkling.
6. Using a hobby knife and straight edge, cut the foam out around the map sections. Voila! Now you have a hard mounted map like AA50.
I thought about experimenting with some thin fabric glued between the paper and foam to make hinges like all the other folding maps have, but I haven’t needed to yet.
Wonderful! Yet ANOTHER handicap for the Allies….so frustrating
As far as I know, this has ALWAYS been the rule. At least as long as I remember, going back to Revised. You can “swap” planes though and land the planes from land on the carrier and vice-versa, if that helps.
You can probably use risk pieces for the units.
I would recommend using some Airfix figures instead. Risk pieces are Napoleonic era.

What kind of time table are we looking at?
Like a fine wine Brain, you need to savor this a bit longer.
Fantastic! I love the later war carriers… And your camo, as always, is awesome!
Thanks - it was ridiculously hard to match colors. WWII “Navy Blue” is not even remotely navy blue. Most all decks were stained a blue color. And the greys ranged from all kinds of shades depending on which site you looked at. I finally found a site with some good images of paint chips and matched it from that (though going with a lighter color because size naturally lightens a color).
While I had fun doing the brown wooden decks of the earlier ones, I did do the Essex(CV 9). I used a dark German grey for the deck since, like you said, it wasn’t very “navy blue”. I’m still conflicted over my color choice on the hellcats but I have some Corsairs on the way from Trumpeter. I will try out a darker blue on a few of those.

@Imperious:
the link is now fixed. Make sure you got Adobe 9.3
I am still getting that error after update Adobe with the Final version.
As am I. I have 9.3.2.
@thoes426:
Very nice! I really need to paint my own pieces too, just hard to find the time these days. Any “free time” i find gets used to game.
Thoes426 :evil:
That’s not a bad thing! I just have trouble finding gaming buddies so therefore, I turned to painting. Always better to play than anything else!
Obviously, the Italian pieces are no different from germans except they’re put there for historical accuracy
Correct. I had them, so I thought I should use them. Increases the cool factor I guess…
