      @Tall:

      John,

      @John:

      I’ve bought a lot of stuff from HBG this month and looking forward to possibly gaming with all of you at the convention.

      ––I feel certain that you’ll be TOTALLY SATISFIED with any/all purchases that you make from HBG. Doug will make sure that you are happy. I, like everyone else that have ever had any dealings with HBG, are loyal “fans” of
      “The Big Green H”, and it leader, General Doug!

      “Tall Paul”

      Can I put this quote on our Kickstarter page?  :-D

      Going with your idea, you could use the smaller Stukas for Ju-87C variants which were being designed to carry torpedoes. Now you have a dive bomber and torpedo bomber for Germany!

      @knp7765:

      Any word on the Amerika Kickstarter project?

      Since we got so close last time, Coach and I are really crossing T’s and dotting I’s to make sure this campaign is solid. Map and charts have been done for a while now. Rules are basically done and laid out until we go to final production. These are going to be made available for free this time around. We’re finishing up a few graphics for the KS page to make sure there is no confusing items this time and then we’ll be ready to go. Don’t worry, we will tell our faithful followers here first so you get it in at the beginning. Thank you all for your continued interest in the game. It’s been tons of fun showing it off at 'Cons and getting feedback and comments. Having about 50 people play it at GenCon was really cool!

      Yep, I can report that Island Warfare is a surprising stand out so far. I think there is good odds we’ll be looking at this one first.

      Hey guys! Yeah, looks like we’re sold out of a few favorites… I spoke to Coach today about the Russians. We’re looking to re-order in the next few weeks, but that puts them back in stock around… February or so? As for the neutrals, I will need to check on those.

      @toblerone77:

      @coachofmany:

      You are welcome and thank you for the compliments. We are needing to generate some pre-order monies for the Expansion set and we are throwing in a Japanese Jet at last minute. All pre-order sets will get a free Japanese Kikka jet fighter for every pack they pre-order. I will have a picture of the model next week.
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakajima_Kikka

      @toblerone77:

      JUST CAME IN THE MAIL!!! THANK YOU HBG!!!

      First, the pieces look fantastic.

      Secondly, and just IMO, for you guys out there that have MB Classic pieces, you know that the figures are a bit darker than the vehicle units. The HBG yellow gold color kind of bridges the gap between the two colors. You could easily make a new nation or have an elite branch of military with your old and new units.
      It’s hard to justify with photos but I swear the colors meld enough that it’s not much different than some of the color variation that you get between say AAG40.1 and AAG40.2. For a ten buck gamble you can’t loose.

      Third, for anyone still on the fence these pieces look great just to flavor your F2F games. You don’t have make variants or special rules for these if you don’t want too. They’re just plain nice. They look better than OOB and for people who got short changed by WOTC in the past, these will fill your ranks of MIA units nicely.

      Fourth. If you like the last sets that have come out these are even better.

      Last. HBG you guys did awesome! These were soooo worth any waiting. Thank you.

      P.S.Thanks for the extra bits and the coaster. It will hold a frosty beverage nicely as I rearrange my “tackle boxes” to make homes for my new stuff.

      Does this apply to all pre-orders or only new pre-orders of this set? I already ordered four of the second set when I ordered the first sets. I’ll be ordering either way I’m just curious.

      ALL pre-orders get the Kikkas. Only folks who don’t are the ones that buy the Expansion Sets after they are out. We are trying to get as many pre-orders as possible to fund the sets so as to keep them flowing to the factory. Slower money means slower pieces  :cry: Faster money means faster pieces!  :-D

    • RE: HBG's Japanese Sets

      Guess I have a few questions to address!

      First: Although Coach and I talk HBG every day of our lives, I can’t take ANY credit for the QC process going on right now. All the pieces are with him in Tulsa, OK. I live way the heck out in California!  :-o  He has to do all the QC himself, or enlist the help of a son or wife or friend. Wish I could help, but he’s got a mountain of plastic to sort through. Give him time to make sure you get the best quality stuff. I can tell from the pics that others are recieving beautiful pieces.

      For those that haven’t received their pre-orders yet, don’t worry. On the way soon. I haven’t even got MINE yet!  :-P But I don’t mind. You all deserve them first! Thank you again to all those that pre-ordered.

      Last, the Brits. Yeah, we’re gonna get a list up before too long. We don’t link taking pre-orders until we know for sure the set is in the “production line”. That usually means all pieces are 3D modeled and we have proofs of sculpts at least near done. We will of course post here when the pre-order is ready. Don’t forget there is another set of Japanese behind this one still in process. Sculpts are still being perfected and proofed.

      Enjoy this long awaited set everyone!

      I know how all of you feel. I originally made my Midway game for the A&A board game sized pieces, not the A&A minis. With these on the way to my house, it will look a lot better soon when I use the green and orange on the map. 'Course, it will be perfected once the Midway boxed game is made with it’s own pieces… :evil:

      Oops. I said NOTHING! Nothing.  :wink: :-D

    • RE: HBG's Japanese Sets

      Sorry gang, we’ve been away from here for a few days. Let’s see, where to start…

      Japanese pre-orders are shipping out now. First batch out today. Coach is QCing the batches and sending some each day with a little bonus in there for your patience. Thank you again everyone!

      Most all of the above assumptions regarding French and Brit pieces sound correct. FB pics are for both WWI and WWII pieces. 3D modeler did them all at once so we shared with you!

      For the Japanese color questions, the yellow-gold and rose are new colors all around. They are meant to match our older painted pieces. They can easily be used for Thai, veteran, special, other pro-axis neutrals, etc. Personally, I plan to use the orange for standard, red for veteran, yellow-gold for Thai, and rose for… not sure yet.  :mrgreen:

      @knp7765:

      Great news on the Japanese Supplement sets. Looking forward to seeing them in person.
      I know this forum only allows 2 pictures so you chose the orange and red pieces. I assume the rose and yellow/gold pieces are also on the way?

      I am told all colors are on the way.

      Finally! On the way from China… Should be here in a week to a week and a half (depends on customs, government shut downs, etc). We’ll post some pics while we QC them, and then start getting them out to all those faithful fans that pre-ordered. Thank you again everyone!

    • RE: Combining Your A&A Editions.

      The way I did mine was a bit more complex than most. First, I combined all the pieces I got from the Global games (I own both 40.1 and 40.2 editions). These I separated into the tackle box trays like most of you. To this I add my vast array of HBG pieces (perk of my job). Then I have a separate couple of trays for chips, dice, counters, etc. This is all stored in wood boxes from Ikea.

      Now the tricky part… I painted the pieces for AAGC and BOTB so those live inside the original game boxes. I deconstructed Revised and 1942 and placed all contents into the 1942 box with no pieces. I need these games the least, but the maps and charts etc are there if I want to play them. Next, I like AA50 the best so I took all my favorite WOTC/Hasbro pieces from ALL games and made my “dream” AA50 game. Only OOB pieces. For 1942.2 I left everything in there so it can be played anytime. It had enough unique stuff in it that I didn’t want to go fishing in my tackle boxes later for it. For 1941, I used mostly my Revised pieces. I like this game ready to go for teaching others A&A basics but hated the boring mix of units. So I upgraded them so to speak.

      Bottom line, take your favorite pieces and use them for your favorite / most played editions. You get the most enjoyment out of them this way! I have my “ultimate set ups” for each WOTC game, plus my mega parts collection of WOTC / HBG for playing Global or any other game. I slowly phase out what I don’t need in that set as we produce more HBG sets.

    • RE: HBG's Japanese Sets

      It’s certainly an interesting look at economies of scale… To the guy in his garage, HBG is far too big a project with 16 moulds per run times 5000 runs or so. To our Chinese factory, we are small potatoes. They wish we’d order 100,000 runs.  :-P

      @toblerone77:

      I heard of the delay. Thanks. I was just wondering about some kind of time frame. The word I heard was that quality issues needed to be worked out. How serious they were I have no idea of. I’m just anxious to get them LOL.

      I can explain a bit. The quality issue was the wings on the planes. Came out bent badly on the test set like they were too hot or something. Coach immediately told the guy off and said “Fix it!”  :-D

      They should be sending the new test set very soon which will be awesome (of course) and then the full production right behind that. Coach will post when there is more definitive info.

    • RE: HBG's Amerika Game ON KICKSTARTER NOW - FUNDED!

      @knp7765:

      If the funding doesn’t reach $33K by the specified date, is it possible to extend the date? I hate to be a “negative nancy”, but it’s not looking good right now. I know a later funding date would mean later production and later release, but like the saying goes “Better late than never”.

      Sorry for not getting back sooner, but it seems the last few days have been tough to get on here!

      Unfortunately we are not allowed to extend the date. Once you pick a date on KS, that’s it. But we have added TONS of content to the KS page including photos from GenCon, 3D model renderings, and a pic of our battle board. If you have friends that didn’t like what they saw or cancelled, get them to take another look.

      I think the best we can do now is to get some retailers interested in taking 4 or 8 copies at a time. KS only allows up to 10 copies per their rules. But 8 copies for a retailer is a good chunk of change and a great price for them. Tell your local game store to contact us if they want to buy in (semi-) bulk.

      We’ve had several people cancel (not from here) that I wish we could get back. Coach and I are working on a few investors to help out but we will still need a bunch more pledges. We appreciate all you guys have done thus far. If any of you know someone who would be interested in helping to fund the project beyond buying a game or two, please have them contact Coach (Doug) at info@historicalboardgaming.com.

      Thank you for your support!

      @ch0senfktard:

      Seems the funding has really, really stalled over the past week.
      Pretty disappointing, I was looking forward to getting my copy in February… Meh.

      Still, I’m hoping it jumps up again…

      Yes, we have noticed the same thing. We are hoping for a jump after GenCon now and another once we get final numbers on international shipping. Of course the best way to help is continuing to spread the word and get your gamer friends to throw in for a copy. Every bit helps!

      Thanks for the support on Kickstarter! Things are looking pretty good, but we still have a long way to go. Keep up the good work on getting the word out.

      Also, we have gone back and forth with the minis manufacturer on issues with the Japan Set. We are not yet happy with the test pieces so are a bit behind schedule on those. Will let everyone know when we have a better idea on ship date.
