super subs is good too. And British or german rockets can really be annoying as well.

RE: Is africa importantposted in Axis & Allies Classic
I like to take Africa as Germany, then once India has been taken, (or evacuated), take a transport or two to go take new zealand, austrailia, madagascar, and then drop the remaining troops in Africa for defense. Hey, if I have an extra man and tranny, I might even use Yanny’s idea and put an IC in switzerland!

RE: What's nextposted in General Discussion
Sounds good. Is there a board game version and computer version?
BTW, has anybody bought Civilization 3?
I am thinking about buying it, but am not sure whether to or not, -

I got AA Europe for X-mas…haven’t tried it yet, but I was wondering if anyone’s heard anything good about Risk 2210…does it compare to A&A? or is it still behind as far as strategy and complexity? If anyone is stil wondering, IMHO RISK2210 is equal to AA. I love the 8 sided dice with commanders, the cards, and the maps(moon and land/sea). It has the extra dimension that risk lacked and is like a cross between AA and RISK. I got it for Christmas and I would recomend it to anybody!

I am sure there is a way to combine the pieces of AAP and AAE with the board for AA.

RE: Capture the U.S?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
To try to take the USA in AAE is a good thing for the allies because it means that they will have to defend little. They can see you coming. Taking britain, on the other hand is not usually as hard. They will find nothing unusual if you continue to sink all their ships and you could be building transports “to take that russian city on the baltic”, One of the reasons germany usually goes for russia is that they have to spend a significant portion of their income there already. Also, britain cannot make british other allied units. (as the russians can.)

RE: Weapons developmentposted in General Discussion
Roll when you have some extra money and don’t really need that extra tank or two inf. Roll when you are Japan and your income is through the roof. Roll one or two dice a turn when you are UK (and can afford it)and have been using the “Bomb the Hell out of Germany” strategy. And yes, roll when you feel like it.

RE: Japanese presence in atlanticposted in Axis & Allies Classic
I recently played a game as Russia in which Japan captured Hawaii T1 with 2 inf and a fighter, used the rest of everything to kill the ships (2hitBBs), and used the sub as you stated. The USA then ran to the north and later killed the newly built tranny’s of Japan’s. They also sent their bomber and a fighter against my sub and killed it. the Japanese picked up their twoo inf from hawaii and landed them into panama. We then sent some troops to mexico but nest turn the Japs sent their men to Brazil and bought an IC. US then devoted all energies to taking it and Japanese killed their fleet and Air force at the cost of all but one Battleship. I had less help from UK and US than I would have liked and Moscow fell next turn. WE lost.

KING TIGER, Ozone
How do you guys usually defend Europe
(like, a ton of inf in W.E., some in E.E., 2-3 in S.E. and more in Germ.; or all in East and west, a few in Ukr, new ones in Germ.)
just wondering as I haven’t been able to decide how I should do this. -
RE: Radical U.S. First Turn Optionposted in Axis & Allies Classic
I AM NOT SAYING ROLL ALL DICE FIRST TURN.
I am just saying that even though there is a risk in buying tech, don’t ignore it!
I usually roll tech when I don’t need an extra tank or inf next turn as Japan, US, or UK. Not all turns, not everything on one turn; one or two dice here and there throught out the course of the game. -
RE: Best Japanese first turn.posted in General Discussion
If USA can effectively kill the JAp transports with minimal losses then an IC is not enough
-
RE: Radical U.S. First Turn Optionposted in Axis & Allies Classic
Exactly, Almost.
You can control when you roll dice. -
RE: USA IC IN FINLAND?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
but the tranny will need to be defended more. Newly purchased units can defend the IC. The tranny’s cargo can not help it defend.
Also, germany would have to be an idiot to SBR the US instead of Russia. -
RE: Radical U.S. First Turn Optionposted in Axis & Allies Classic
It is not any more gambling than the game itself.
More dice rolls are involved in the game than in tech rolls. -

So here they are, some questions. Now please write me a paper or three.
Where do you buy and use ICs?(all sides)
DO you ever buy AA guns?(all sides)
Do you ever buy tech rolls?(if so, when/who andwhy/why not?)(all sides) -
RE: German Opening Move (w/RR and 2HBS)posted in Axis & Allies Classic
Why would you want to take Gibralter?
Isn’t Egypt more important 1st round? -
RE: USA IC IN FINLAND?posted in Axis & Allies Classic
I can see it.
1st turn Russia attacks fin, then retreats after doing sufficient damage. They also kill the baltic fleet(of course). USA turn they take fin.
Nextround britain reinforces with 2-4 inf USA builds IC.
Next round USA builds inf.
Next round UK inf go to karelia.
USA then builds inf for russian defense, strat bombs germany(from UK though), and tanks when Russia is about to launch an offensive (for clean up and support purposes)
Its almost as good as the JAp IC in Switz
