RE: Babylon 5
My s/o surprised me this Christmas with the complete series on DVD. She then asked if I wanted the TV movie collection. I told her I think I can live without River of Souls.
I have a long-standing debate with a friend of mine who thinks Deep Space Nine was the better show. My argument is if you look at the last four seasons of DS9, B5 trump every major plot device by doing it first and doing it better.
Now I want Strazynski (sp) to release Captain Power on DVD.

RE: Axis & Allies Minis War at Sear Preview 1
I like the look of the ships and the models, and hopefully the soft plastic won’t warp. I don’t want to open a booster and find a battleship with a bent hull (some of my A&AM planes have badly bent wings).
That aside, I’m curious to see how they will handle unique ships of the same class. Will the Enterprise, Yorktown(CV-5), and Wasp(CV-7) all have different stats and SAs?

RE: New Tanks?
How about a Panzer I? It’s the only piece of the Panzer lineage they have yet to produce.

RE: Fallschirmjager, Panhard, Elefant
Why does the Elefant have an anti-infantry value? Last time I checked, it has no defensive machine guns. Kinda hard to fight foot soldiers at close range with an 88mm gun.

RE: Sherman Calliope & Thompson Gunner
I don’t mind the Calliope or the Duplex Drive models. I’m just tired of having a rare slot taken up by the same basic tank over and over again. They could have just as easily skipped the Easy Eight (The Rhino model would have sufficed), the 105mm version, and the Firefly. What they should do is sell Sherman kits. You buy a kit with a Sherman chassis and attach the turret and special weapons suited to the model you want to field.

RE: Warhammer
Does anyone still play Final Liberation? I dusted my copy off a few days ago, only to find Windows XP hates it.

RE: Sherman Calliope & Thompson Gunner
Another Sherman. Another. Sherman. Oh well, I’m sure one will find its way into the War at Sea Game, too.

RE: Axis & Allies Miniatures Set 4: D-Day
Two frigging Shermans! Granted, neither is American, but for the love of WotC, can we stop with the Shermans? How about the next expansion set? I propose we name it “All the M4 variants you could ever think to deploy” and be done with it.

RE: Warhammer
Funny you use the phrase “little men”. When I was working at a local hobby shop, the GW reps hated it when you used the terms “men” or “guys” when referring to “models”.
I think it was something in the company Kool-Aid, but that’s a whole other topic.

The French get their Somua!!!

RE: Warhammer
The oldest copy of Rogue Trader I’ve seen was printed in 1987, so 40K will turn 20 next year.

RE: Axis & Allies Miniatures Set 3: Contested Skies
So I was just thinking… not only for aircraft but for pretty much everything, if you win the initiative roll, isn’t it better to let your opponent go first? That way you get to see what he’s doing, see what he hits/misses, and coordinate your actions accordingly.
It’s better to go first if you want to take advantage of Strike and Fade.

RE: Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures
About the only way a ship of destroyer size and up would be compatable with the ground game is a second set of cards giving some sort of bombardment value. 15mm does not lend itself well to any naval vessel larger than PT boats and LCPVs.

RE: Axis & Allies Miniatures Set 3: Contested Skies
The only rules card for an aircraft we’ve seen have been the Stuka and the Sturmovik, both of which are ground attack aircraft. We’ll know on Wednesday when they release the stats for the 109 if air superiority fighters have an air-to-air SA.

RE: Storage for A&A
I use the same thing I used to store my Micro Machines. Fishing tackle boxes. For $20-$25, you can buy a large tackle box that holds all your minis, maps, rulebooks, and a few modeling supplies. Or, if you just need simple storage without the convenient portbility of a tackle box, buy some tackle box inserts from Wal-Mart. They have snap closures, and you can store about 1200 points in a $3 tray.

RE: German Halftracks
What the Germans need, especially for early war (read: Polish and French campaigns) is an OPEL truck. No fighting platform, no attack value, just a 3-4 point truck that gets their units to the melee quicker.

RE: Axis & Allies Naval Miniatures
I will be interested to see how they incorporate aircraft and carriers. Two-player action is rather difficult when you have a Battle of the Coral Sea where your fleets are out of eyesight.
This also brings my nugget of wisdom for the day:
“Never play Command at Sea with a tailor.” -
RE: Axis & Allies Miniatures Set 3: Contested Skies
The Spitfire is announced in the teaser blurb for the D-Day set. I have a feeling two or three aircraft will be released over the course of the next few sets.
